What are you're feelings about the setlist??
I was hoping for songs like: Seven Wonders - Hold Me - oh Diane.
Knowing they would change the set...... i was hoping for these songs......
Stil i think it is a good setlist. and you??

I like the setlist. My only problem with it is Stand Back. I don't think that should be in this setlist. She has too many other songs people want to hear. She tours a lot and this song is always sung. Much rather hear something more obscure such as That's Alright or Seven Wonders or even Destiny Rules.
I like the set list. I would also have loved to hear Seven Wonders in the set but glad no Hold Me. It's good to limit the Christine McVie songs to World Turning and Don't Stop. I love Hold Me as a Buckingham / McVie duet. I didn't think Say You Love Me was a a good idea for Buckingham Nicks to do on the last tour. There is no need to pull Christine's songs out.
Agree about dropping Stand Back from this tour.

The problem with Stand Back is because of it being performed with the Mac since the late 80's, it's almost as much a staple of the Mac as it is of Stevie's solo material. For casual concert-goers who wouldn't know the different (especially since Stevie solo also performs Mac hits in her sets) people could honestly believe it to be a Mac hit if they didn't know any better. Because of that fact alone, I'm fine with it.
I think this setlist is the most diverse setlist we've had since the days of The Dance. I was almost certain they would never do Sisters again, and I really didn't think a Say You Will song would pop up so with those two factors, plus factoring in there being new material, kudos to the Mac for this years set.

If they'd delete Stand Back and Don't Stop and replace them with Seven Wonders and Thrown Down or Destiny Rules, I'd be very happy.
Otherwise, I think the setlist is fine.
Don't Stop will NEVER be dropped due to Lindseys vocal on the lead.

Drop the songs Stevie sings in her solo act including Gold Dust Woman, Dreams, Rhiannon, and Landslide. Love these, of course, but want obscure / new music!!!

i'd love it if they would bring back DR. but i don't see that happening - just look at the setlist: DR is Stevie's song, and apart from swapping only 1 song - Storms with SOTM (good swap and i'm sure SOTM will get better as the tour goes on ), she did all exact same songs as on the UL. they just added Without You.
for Lindsey-lead songs, they swapped 3 songs - he dropped Go Insane, Oh Well, and I Know I'm Not Wrong, and replaced it with Not That Funny, Eyes of the World and Say Goodbye. and added Sad Angel (good addition!!).
considering that Eyes and SG were done on SYW tour, however much i LOVE Eyes and NTF (the latter especially on this tour so far!), i'd rather hear some real deep cuts that they haven't done for ages or ever (WATL and WMYTYTO come to mind :p ).
and they could have easily added 2 more songs (but i guess 23 is better than 22!).
Don't Stop is a staple. it's not going anywhere. the whole stadium is on their feet, singing and dancing for that one.

Much to my kids' dismay, we watched 4 DVDs wortho f FM concerts today in preparation for tomorrow at MSG. What I wouldn't give for Stevie to drop Stand Back for Seven Wonders...Dare to dream!

these 4 will not leave (however much Dreams and Rhiannon don't do anything for me ). but Gold Dust Woman is a great song, although it should be way shorter (cut last 3 mins or so!) and tighter.
however Gypsy and Sara could have been easily replaced... come on, they even do the same SnL move towards the end of the Sara as during UL! (although i have to admit, Sara was not as unbearable on this tour so far as the studio version is for me... maybe b/c LB was throwing dagger-looks in my direction (as if saying, do you really have to act bored??) as i was turning around, taking pictures of the audience, doing all kinds of stuff but following the song... :p

I agree about Stand Back. I can see Don't Stop being on the setlist. It's their tribute to Chris and the song they sung on National TV for President Clinton. That means alot to them. It's such a feel good song too. But they definately could put something else in their besides a Stevie solo song. Is anything from Say you will on the set list?

lol Sorry but this made me laugh out loud. As much as a 'businessman' Mr. Mick Fleetwood is, I highly doubt any member of Fleetwood Mac (excluding Christine) would miss out on the easy pay that would be a thus billed "Fleetwood Mac Farewell Tour" lol There'd be live dvd's, major tv promotion, album tie-in's, ect ect. This is in no way their last tour unless, God forbid, something terrible happens to one of them.

I agree about Stand Back. I love Stevie, and have seen her solo too, but my experience last night made me loathe this number live. For whatever reason, this song makes everyone and their mother come barging down the aisles... And for what? I had so much fun last night, but I couldn't help but think about Lindsey's solo performances once or twice, even at the concert! Wishing I was there... I love the big arena type vibe, but nothing can top his one man show. To really feel his guitar through your whole body is something else. So Afraid in a small theatre? Please, earth shattering amazingness :D
It would be amazing if they played Frozen Love or added in some more from Tusk, both of which I'm sure would never happen, but it's a nice thought. :D

I think I am as happy as I could realistically be with the set list- love the inclusion of Sad Angel, Say Goodbye, Not That Funny, Sisters, Gypsy, and Sara. If I had to choose a song to be dropped, it would be Stand Back in favor of Seven Wonders.
I too wish for Stand Back to be omitted. It sounds lousy (especially the Mac version) and is not a Mac song. I realise that a live version was included on the The Chain box set so that technically makes it part of their released back catalogue (just as Go Insane was done with The Dance), but it is undeniably a solo track.
Seven Wonders is the obvious track to replace it and if done with a little intensity, would suffice as an energetic addition (the inclusion of Stand Back is often defended for this reason).
Seven Wonders is such a neglected song - everyone I know, regardless of whether they like Stevie or the Mac, seems to really dig this song. Apart from anything else, it was a hit single and we know how much Stevie cherishes the big sellers. It's exclusion just mystifies me.
Whilst I disagree with the old warhorses being constantly dragged out, I understand the reason for them being performed at every concert. I just think that the shows should be peppered with more interesting (Mac) material and these complimentary songs could be alternated from week to week. That way, we could be treated to the likes of Crystal, I Don't Want To Know, The Ledge, What Makes You Think You're The One?, Walk A Thin Line, That's Alright, Thrown Down, Destiny Rules and a heap of other underrated (seemingly by the band) songs.
The more I think about this, the more convinced I am that they are a bunch of lazy bastards.
PS I also despise the arrogance of Stevie thinking we should be wetting ourselves over the inclusion of one swapped "classic" every five years. We all knew she was out of touch, but she simply must be deranged.
Also, while I think of it, the best thing about the setlist in my opinion is the absence of Soldier's Angel. I felt certain it was going to be shoved down our throats for this tour and wonder why it didn't make the final cut. Let's hope the other three had organised an intervention of honesty and confessed to Stevie just how odious this wretched littly ditty truly is. She really ought to be horse-whipped for committing such an atrocity.

I think that if SS starts to strain her at some point, she will switch it with Soldier's Angel. I would not mind that change at all, since I've seen SS so many times, but I realize that casual fans would be disappointed by it.

I'm all for alternating, especially due to vocal strain, but if she introduced Soldier's Angel, well then... I'd never speak to her again!!

Seven Wonders would be a great song to add, as TITN album is sorely lacking on recent Mac tours, except for Big Love. Stevie didn't write the song and it was only done on the TITN tour. It's such an '80's song though, so translating it on the stage in 2013 would be really hard. TITN gets a bad rep for being "dated" so that hurts the albums chance of being futured more. Also with Christine gone, Everywhere and Little Lies can't really be done.

Sara
Big Love

Stand Back

Yeah except I personally feel like after Mick's epic public breakdown last year over the status of the Mac, if they could deal this time, they'll deal again. That's practically all they've been doing since the late 70s anyway is just putting their feelings aside for money. And honestly speaking, if Stevie were pulling away in a sense more than she was back in the day and especially after her trying time with Say You Will I don't think we would've had this tour or Unleashed and definitely no new material. If she were that not into the Mac, my bets are she'd still be pimpin In Your Dreams 100% of her time. I'd bet my life savings all parties involved will be present for a Farewell Tour, way too much money to be made and publicity for even someone like Stevie to pass up. That's essentially why they all end up coming back because no matter their successes solo, they'll never match up to the mass appeal of the Mac.

I was somewhat hoping "Soldier's Angel" would replace "Stand Back" as the Stevie solo song. Or that FM might sneak in "You Can't Fix This" since Stevie started singing it with Dave Grohl and company earlier this year.
However, I've also made the same point in another thread here that "Stand Back" is almost as much a Fleetwood Mac staple as it is a Stevie solo staple. Besides the fact that I know of several big bands who have included solo material from their band members, "Stand Back" is a song Fleetwood Mac has been doing long enough to be one of their songs too.
Then again, I also wanted "Fall From Grace" and "Ghosts Are Gone" to replace "Stand Back" in recent Fleetwood Mac sets, so I digress.

I could see them doing pre Stevie & Lindsey songs maybe if Christine was still in the band, for the fact that she actually sang those songs. I wanted Stand Back to disappear from Fleetwood Mac after the Billy/Rick period of the band. When Lindsey rejoined I thought it might be interesting to see how he would approach it But now it's just a waste of space, when so many other songs could take its place.
It's semi-disco dance style is incongruous to Fleetwood Mac's general vibe. It's such a dominant, signature song in the context of her solo career. And this is what she chose to become a staple in a Fleetwood Mac show? She apparently never considered the myriad of inspired choices among her many rarely/never performed Fleetwood Mac songs. It kind of seems like a power-play on her part -- to stake her claim!

Remember, a show is a complete body of work rather than just a bunch of randomly cobbled songs. There is a flow/ebb to a Fleetwood Mac setlist: It starts off with a bang, settles into a familiar mid-tempo groove, enters into experimental/unusual territory, goes unplugged, gets moody/bluesy, then winds up with an onslaught of uptempo/rocking tunes. Stevie really doesn't have much in the way of uptempo/rocking songs, so I think "Stand Back" is her go-to "get the a$$es out of their seats" number. If you think about it, what other Stevie song would fit into this slot in the show? Other than "Edge of Seventeen" I can't think of anything else.

Actually, IMO none of those you listed are anywhere near Stand Back. Now, I'm not saying SB is some genius/deep song. However, the synthesizers and the beat make the song a dance favorite for Stevie/Mac fans. It's not really a hard rocking song, or a soft pop song. I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. If you plopped any of those songs into Stand Back's spot on the setlist, it would pull the energy out of the concert when it should be working up to it's big finale. Basically, what everyone else says...Stevie doesn't have many high-energy, well known songs that work well in that "home stretch" part of the setlist when the band wants asses off seats, singing, dancing, and clapping.
Although, if they were worked correctly, I could see Silver Springs or Rhiannon as the lead in to the Go Your Own Way finale.

Any of the songs I listed could bring a ton of energy - I mean, my goodness, look at I'm So Afraid and Gold Dust Woman, probably some of the most spectacular moments of the show, and no synthy beats.
I agree that it's dancy, but any song could be dancy if reimagined and performed that way. For that matter, they might as well perform the Deep Dish version of Dreams.
I love Stand Back, and don't mind hearing it. I'm just playing devil's advocate, which comes naturally to me, due to my Libra Moon.

I think you're vastly underestimating the importance of song recognition. Those other songs wouldn't work because most of the fans don't know them. There maybe be other songs they could use in that slot, I don't know, but those aren't it.

I think you are reading me wrong...it's not about "synthy beats" or Stand Back at all (believe me, no SB kool aid here)....but the second last song of the main set is not the place for Running Through the Garden, Love is Dangerous, Freedom or Paper Doll. It would flop big time. Go Your Own Way closes the set for a reason, the band sees it as the perfect end, everyone knows it, has a great beat, and a killer ending solo where Lindsey, and to some extent Stevie, can run around the stage. IMO, the band uses Stand Back as Stevie's answer to a GYOW type of song. There are other Fleetwood Mac songs of hers that COULD work there, but none of the ones that were listed. Of Stevie's "big" FM songs, I really could only see Rhiannon or Silver Springs in that spot....and to be fair, both of them would have to be amped up a bit to work. That part of the set is basically the final stretch of the race, it needs to be an iconic, well known song.

Exactly. When it comes to energetic, iconic Fleetwood Mac hits sung by Stevie, the pickings are slim. A high-energy, uptempo Rhiannon with the ending guitar solo added back is really the only one I can think of.
That said, I wouldn't mind them leaving it out... but I understand why it's there.

That is true. For instance, I'd love to have EFO in the set and I think it's dancy, but I know no one knows it. That is why it's never going to get the same reaction as Stand Back. People jump up off their seats when they hear the opening SB beat. No stadium-filling band wants to lose a song like that.

I suppose that's an inevitable side-effect of people not buying albums. If everyone who went to see FM live owned all the material, they'd know all the songs.
I'm in the wrong for assuming other people at the show are the same caliber of fan that I am, or you are. Even though it makes perfect sense, it *seems* ludicrous to me that every person in the audience wouldn't know Everybody Finds Out or Seven Wonders, or Walk A Thin Line or Tango In The Night.
I don't go to concerts unless it's a band I *love*. I'm not one who pays to see someone if I'm a casual fan. I'd never, for instance, go to see the Steve Miller Band - I love the songs on the radio, but I would never pay to see them. I own none of their material...so I guess that's the same perspective that probably 99.5% of the audience at a Fleetwod Mac show has, which I need to remember.

Stand Back may be uptempo but Holy Moses, is it a cringeworthy hot mess live.

What should've been the setlist in my opinion;
01 The Chain
02 Dreams
03 Sad Angel
04 Seven Wonders
05 Can't Go Back
06 Rhiannon
07 Tango In The Night
08 Thrown Down
09 What Makes You Think You're The One
10 Sara
11 Big Love
12 Landslide
13 Frozen Love
14 Gypsy
15 Eyes Of The World
16 That's Alright
17 World Turning
18 I'm So Afraid
19 Silver Springs
20 Tusk
21 Go Your Own Way
22 Sisters Of The Moon
23 Don't Stop
24 Say Goodbye
1 Buckingham Nicks track.
4 White Album tracks.
5 Rumours tracks.
4 Tusk tracks.
4 Mirage tracks.
3 Tango In The Night tracks.
2 Say You Will tracks.
1 New track.
So Afraid and Tango share (almost) the same guitar solo, so they better merge that or skip the first one for a change...

I haven't been to the show yet so keeping that in mind ... I think it's an enjoyable setlist but I get why some fans are disappointed. I guess the main tension is juggling the desires of casual fans and more hardcore fans. Maybe if they would rehearse more, they could rotate songs in their setlist from night to night, that would give superfans incentive to see more than one show, and casual fans wouldn't know the difference. My gut reaction is that they could've worked a little harder to make the setlist be a better compromise.
Like, right now Stevie's "greatest hits" are "Dreams", "Rhiannon", "Landslide", "Gold Dust Woman", "Gypsy", "Sara". I think "Landslide" has to be done always, and GDW is Stevie at her "witchiest" which has a certain value w.r.t. what she brings. Out of the other four I think she could get away with just two per night. "Dreams" and "Rhiannon" are both moody ethereal numbers, "Gypsy" and "Sara" are both moving self-confessionals. One of each? Or whatever sounds best these days.
Then Lindsey's go-to songs that he always does are "Second Hand News", "Tusk", "Big Love", "Never Going Back Again", "I'm So Afraid", and "Go Your Own Way". GYOW is too pivotal to drop, "Big Love" is a crowd pleaser and Lindsey loves to do it (yes?), and "Tusk" is a great way to kill two birds with one stone (both a hit and part of the Tusk mini-set ... also a favorite of mine and I would cry if they didn't do it). One, two, or all of the other three could maybe be switched out at least from time to time.
Personally while I love "Not That Funny", if it's coming off too offbeat then think "I Know I'm Not Wrong" and "The Ledge" would be more tuneful. Plus "The Ledge" is super energetic, really should've been a single. "I Know I'm Not Wrong" had more vocal interplay between Lindsey and Stevie on the Tusk tour rehearsal videos and if that translated to onstage dynamics then their Fabled Chemistry(TM) could compensate for the obscurity. I would take "The Ledge" and IKINW over NTF and "Eyes of the World", and I think the former two have made less tour appearances?
"Stand Back" and "World Turning" are neither terrible nor favorite picks for me. I get the rationale for "Stand Back" laid out in this thread. I feel like if they'd spent the years building up the legends of other songs they could put other things here though. "The Chain" really needs to stay, but why not make it an encore song and kick out "Don't Stop"?
I like the sound of "Sad Angel" and "Without You" from what I hear on youtube, I think they can be proud to show those off. "Sisters of the Moon" seems like a smart pick, of all the songs out of her back catalog it seems like the best compromise of vocal capability, fan favoritism, and recognizable "Stevieness" for those who don't know it. "Silver Springs" and "Say Goodbye" make a cohesive end to the show and feature a lot of Lindsey/Stevie stuff.
So ... between Stevie's hits, Lindsey's hits, "Don't Stop", "Stand Back", "World Turning", they could maybe have squeezed in more variety. There's a lot to choose from: hits from other lineups ("Oh Well", "Hypnotized"), Buckingham Nicks history ("Frozen Love", "I Don't Wanna Know", "Crystal", "Destiny Rules", "Thrown Down"), songs ostensibly about the band ("Fireflies", "Straight Back", "Say You Will"), Tusk and Mirage gems ("Angel", WMYTYTO, "Can't Go Back", "That's Alright") , newer Lindsey songs ("Bleed to Love Her", "Miranda", his other Tango songs). I realize that every time you lose a known hit you lose some of that audience energy that comes from recognizing a song, but maybe if they spaced their remaining hits out properly and chose deep tracks that have some kind of selling point (B&N history, a great guitar solo, just a damn catchy song), and sang the hell out of them, it could still work.
But like I said, it seems to me like a good setlist in a vacuum. It's just in context where you start niggling, and of course every one of us would niggle in different ways. I'm not a million-selling rock'n'roll singer so this is hardly an art for me.

Great analysis. Well reasoned and not stuff like "They should drop "Go Your Own Way" and play "Lola My Love" instead"
