Well, this will probably end up being more like a list of.. partners.. than it is a list of boyfriends. I don't believe Stevie ever dated Dave Stewart, for instance...

Here's a few off the top of my head that you didn't mention:

Walter Egan
Paul Fishkin
J.D. Souther
Dallas Taylor

I don't think we can count Waddy or Tom as having been her love interests, because although it's definitely possible, there's no real evidence of anything at all and none of them have ever mentioned it. It's just pure speculation.

I could also have put John, but theres no proof plus they never officially dated. Theres just rumours that they enjoyed time with each other

I think people think Waddy because of what Stevie said about If Anything Falls.

Jerry dated Linda Rondstadt for some time in the 70s and was very in with the California rock n roll crowd.... Jackson Browne, the Eagles, etc.

So, Sara forgave Stevie for sleeping with her husband but Stevie was devastated when Sara slept with Mick and because she was so crushed the band (Stevie) banned Sara from coming to the studio while recording Tusk.... how different the world looks when the shoe is on the other foot, no?

So the affair with Derek Taylor would've been in 1978, I guess? In the 70's he was Vice-President of Marketing for Warner Bros, at that point he was already married for 20 years. He was 16 years older than Stevie.

Walter said himself that they had a thing going on in a Penguin Q&A here (http://www.fleetwoodmac.net/penguin/qa/walteregan_qa1.htm).

"You may or may not know that for a short time at the end of 1976 Stevie and I were, how you say....together, and the story of "Magnet & Steel" is somewhat contained therein."

Also,I read somewhere that supposedly Dave and Stevie didn't have a fling, he just passed out during a party in her house -on a bed drunk/high- and woke up later to see Stevie trying on clothes. Or was it confirmed that they dated?

I remember when I was kid (mid 80's), my mom got the 45 of Smuggler's Blues. When I asked her who Glenn Frey was, she told me about him being in the Eagles and stuff. And then she mentioned that she read in a magazine that Glenn and Stevie dated.
Whether this is true or not, I don't know.It might have just been a rumor.

Imagine if Stevie had had Mick's, Lindsey's and Don's babies, plus whomever else she was rumored to be knocked up by. Could you imagine them forming a Band like say... Wilson Philips or maybe Hanson back in the late 90's when they would have been teenagers? HOW amazing and talented they would have been to have Stevie as a Mom and any one of those men as Dads. Of course, being raised famous they would have shortly spiraled out of control and turned into Drug heads and ended up dating Lindsey Lohan and possibly OD'ed on some substance and then wound up on Celebrity Rehab before finally dying in fiery wreck driving off a cliff in California. But Stevie would have tons more to write sad songs about!

From this list Walter Eagan & Les Dudek have definietley been confirmed, though Stevie's affair with Walter was more fleeting. I recall a story about Stan Lynch kinda being a one night stand (someone may recall the story where they slinked away to a hotel.) Dave Stewart was again more of a fleeting "once night stand" situation then romantic relationship. Jerry Brown is a rumor, though I swear a rock rag in the early 80's referenced Stevie had a relationship with the former governor, but I always thought that could've easily been confused w Ronstadt. Stevie's never mentioned Jerry directly.
As far as missing anyone I believe between 76' - 89'-ish Stevie fell in love at the drop of a hat, and had various fleeting "romances" & daliances with bodyguards, crew, music men, plus the infamous waiter in the 90's!;) I think it's safe to say we will never have a full list:shrug:

Last weekend when Stevie dropped the inspiration behind "Beautiful Child" during L.A.'s Q&A as being about her relationship with "Derek Taylor" is a great example of WTF?!? Who knew?? Derek was probably Stevie's initial connection to George Harrison, making a full-circle link to that picture of Stevie in pigtails with Harrison around the time Stevie was dating Derek?!? Also the lyric "You fell in love when I was only ten, years disappear, much has gone by much then" makes more sense, knowing that Derek was @15-16 yrs older than Stevie. Derek died in 97' at the age of 65.
Freaky thing was I was just thinking about that very song and wondering who it was about just last week. Stevie needs to write that book.

Well, Mick was George's brother in law for a while (he was married to Jenny Boyd and George was married to Patty Boyd). Plus wasn't Chris chummy with Eric Clapton? There's several ways that she could have gotten connected with that crowd.

we will never know the full list.... Stevie herself has said she gets "terribly lonely" on the road and has admitted finding comfort in the arms of many many men -- however briefly-- while on the road. Our girl is not afraid of a one-night stand.

But also, realize she is almost 65 years old. So we are looking at relationships over the last 45 years or so.......and when you figure there are 365 nights per year, times 45 years..... that's a lotta lonely nights to fill!

Edited to add: I guess I wouldn't be shocked at this point if she'd had an affair with Glen Frey, but I am skeptical. She's never really had anything positive to say about him; in her stories of dating Don she's always said how dismissive and condescending Frey was of her, never giving her any credit for having a career of her own and success of her own but rather always talking to her and treating her like some hanger-on of Don's, not much more than a groupie. She's never seemed especially fond of him.

Just throwing in what I noticed when I was posting on the other thread. I'm fairly certain the affair with Derek was going on in September of 1977. Because she says Beautiful Child was Derek, and she dedicates Landslide during the Rumours tour stop in LA "to Beautiful Child... where ever you are." And those shows were in September of 77. Which was 2 months before she had her affair with Mick, and during that affair she was dating Paul Fishkin. Which more likely than not means that she cheated on Paul not only with Mick, but with Derek too.

I found the article I referenced above where Stevie says she gets lonely on the road.
It was from People magazine published in their Dec 26 1978-Jan 2 1979 year end issue. It seems like the actual interview would have been done a month or two maybe before the publication date.

Throughout the year Stevie has kept a tenacious hold on reality. The trauma of Mac's romantic roundelays has passed. Stevie and Lindsey have split, Christine and John Mc Vie are divorcing. Fleetwood and his civilian wife, Jenny, are back together again. Stevie, determined to have "no half-assed careers and no half-assed relationships" is making night moves with New Yorker Paul Fishkin, head of Bearsville Records. "It's not easy to be involved with a lady singer who's always gone," Nicks says. "Paul is sweet and wonderful and understands as well as anyone. I'm not interested in playing around, but I do get terribly lonely on the road." After Mac's tour of Australia and Japan ends this month, Stevie will head for her retreat in the Hollywood Hills, where she's "housemother" for her younger brother and three friends. "They let me know I'm not a queen and have no expectations of seeing me go up the front stairway on a broom," Stevie says thankfully. "Rock is flash-- the rest of my life I want to be normal."

so I was digging thru old FM articles for the posting above but came across this one that is in the timeframe you reference. It is from the May 10 1976 edition of Newsweek magazine:

"Fleetwood Mac has not lost it s ability to persevere in the face of adversity. Last year it suvived the breakup of the McVies' marriage, and it also seems likely to withstand the breakup, two weeks ago, of Buckingham and Nicks's six-year relationship. The group is mid-way through recording a new album, and it feels the pressure to produce another best seller. Most of the songs are about the problematic relationships in the band. "It's going to be Mary Harman on wax," says John McVie.

It's documented that they broke up at the beginning of 1976. The break up was during the recording of Rumours in Sausalito, which started in February of 76 I believe. So the break-up is somewhere between late February and late April, considering this magazine is from May 10th and was likely written a few weeks before it was published.
And i'm pretty sure she took up with Don Henley about 2 months after the break-up with Linds. I don't know where Jim Recor came in though. Was that just a short affair or ONS?

I'm reminded of the movie Indiscreet with Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman. He wasn't really married, he just said he was, when they had their affair. When she found out he wasn't, then they didn't even know if they still wanted to be in the relationship. Both of them took some form of comfort from his being "married."

I'm sure the fact that one person is married adds allure because of the risk and danger of being caught factor.

Plus, maybe people who fear commitment like the fact that one person is not free or can't be free without a lot of drama ensuing (maybe drama is also attractive to some people, just like risk is) gravitated towards married lovers for that reason to.

This is all hypothetical because I've never been in a relationship, none the less a relationship with a married man.

However, I can imagine that there almost might be some safety in the fact that he is married. In a way, you know it's doomed from the start, in the back of your mind, so there's not really any pressure in thinking that maybe things are going to start to get too serious or you're going to get tied down. And it also kind of protects your self-esteem. When it does finally implode, you don't have to sit there wondering why you weren't good enough or anything like that. You can blame it ending on the fact that he was married and save yourself some despair.

Did anyone else hear the rumours going around that she's dating Rick Springfield? I don't believe it for a second that its legit, but weirder things have happened! Maybe she'll mention him sometime in 10 years :P

Yeah either would work XP He seems nice and well Stevie is a no brainer. Does anyone know if he's married? Caz let's face it, anyone who lays eyes on Stevie falls in love with her! So if he's available and she doesn't settle for another "friend" then she's set! (Plus maybe if we're lucky it'd piss Lindsey off. I think we can all admit he desverves it.)

An interview with Stevie from 2009 many have seen before but was highlighted in another forum, and given the discussion that's been going on here, a couple quotes stood out:

After your relationship with Lindsey broke up while you were in Fleetwood Mac, you and Mick became an item. Didn’t it occur to anyone it might not be a great idea to date someone in your band?
Oh, definitely. And that is exactly why it didn’t work, because it was a bad idea. We were finishing the Rumours tour and we had gone to Australia. One night we had a party and everybody was drunk and everybody was gone and it was just me and Mick, and we ended up spending the night together. And I fell in love with Mick and I think Mick fell in love with me. We had three weeks in Australia and 10 days in Japan to get through and then we were meeting up with all our families in Hawaii.

[I]What happened?
Jenny, Mick’s wife, was there, and Paul, the man I’d been seeing, and nobody knew about me and Mick because we had been incredibly discreet. I told Paul how sorry I was and Mick told Jenny, and then we had to go to Maui and play a show. Then everybody went back to the mainland, but Mick and I stayed in Hawaii for two days and drove around the mountains and talked about what a dumb-ass thing it was that we had done and that, basically, we were not going to break up Fleetwood Mac. And we got on the plane, held hands all the way back to Los Angeles, and realised, when we got off that plane, that for all practical purposes it was over. It had its month of glory, which was fantastic and very romantic, and then when we got back to LA it was not romantic any more, it was horrifying. It should never have happened. But you’re a cloistered group so there really wasn’t much chance for any of us to meet anybody else.

Do you still live a cloistered life?
I live such a cloistered life. First of all, I don’t have a driver’s license. I haven’t since 1978, I’ve never had that whole paparazzi problem and the reason is because I am never out. What would I do? Go to a club by myself and sit around and hope that I meet a 60-year-old guy? No. But that being said, I’m not a recluse. I was never alone. I have had many, many relationships. And I get to flirt with thousands of men every time I go onstage. So it’s like, I don’t feel lonely, I don’t feel unloved, I feel like I’m in exactly the right place. And I have so much to do.

ETA: wasn't it supposedly getting ready for a Halloween party that Mick locked eyes with Sara, as he was getting his makeup done at Stevie's? When would that have been? Wouldn't it have had to have been later than 77?

From what CAH said, Mick and Stevie were anything but "incredibly discreet." She said everyone knew and I can sort of believe her on that one, because I'm having a hard time thinking of Stevie being discreet, especially back then when she was under the influence and tended to be extremely chatty, gregarious and uncensored.

But her talking about Australia and Japan makes me think of the lyric "six weeks in a foreign country, how the time flew." Well, 3 weeks, plus 10 days is not six weeks, but math is not Stevie's strong point.

But no, I realize when DR was written and don't think it's about Mick. I was just contemplating.

Yeah, DR always made me think of the BD era. She talked about being burned out from FMac and all the touring and everything else and going off to Chile for 6 weeks to think about what she wanted her life to be and how she was so unhappy at that time in her life and whether she wanted to continue in that unhappy vein or be lifted up out of it.

Both the 6 weeks and the foreign language fit "didn't speak the language/but somehow i knew/that that would be the only time/ that we could be alone and foolish/ we said we've never come home"

Not sure who she'd have been with at that time....80/81?

Tho the "when I see you again/As I always do" would certainly fit Mick... ;)

So being VERY new to the ledge AND being a "quite" young a new FM and Stevie Nicks fan I have a lot of catching up to do :)

Watched a re-run if American Idol the other day when Stevie was being the mentor (on Swedish television since I am Swedish) and don't they look cute together. They should pick up their "romance" again trying it out with Stevie being sober.

Look at the picture from the Grammy party celebrating Jimmy as a producer. I think they look super cute together. And he got divorced a couple of years back so she wouldn't even have to get involved with a married man....

actually watching those clips he makes a funny comment to her about how she thinks Lindsey is attractive (she says that one guy is handsome and Jimmy says yes, we got that when you said he looked like Lindsey).... and then later Jimmy busts on her for not saying that HE (Jimmy) was attractive and she says Oh, you WERE, you had the cutest *little* body [he he he ]

AHAHAHAHA let me speak for everyone here; Lindsey

But aside from Mr. Buckingham I really can't piture her with anyone else :/ I guess i've just never considered anyone else (who could reach her standards) I mean they would have to live up to the expectations of Lindsey Buckingham!! No one comes between Buckingham Nicks! But if I had to say someone I would probably say one of her exes, I'm not a huge fan of Jimmy (can't really see how they were compatib;e back in the day) I kinda like the idea of Rick Springfield, but let's not go back in time and her start going with the married men :P

Makes me wonder if that's why we know virtually nothing about the relationships she had between The Dance and the early 2000's. She's mentioned a broken off relationship around TISL, and a relationship that lasted a year during The Dance. And she referenced dating an ex of hers again in the early 2000's as well. Yet we have no idea who any of those men are. They must be very private, or very married.

I think this was brought up elsewhere but I can't find it, so pardon me for my repetition, but it's something I'm curious about.

Stevie has said when speaking of New Moon that Edward reminded her of Lindsey and Bella reminded her of herself (cringe). We know "Lady from the Mountain" was begun back when she was with LB, so one would assume the relationship depicted in "Moonlight" is her relationship with Lindsey. However, she says in the documentary that the song reflects how devastated one feels when one is abandoned by one's true love, and she even gets choked up recalling her terrible pain at the time. Huh? Last I checked, she dumped Lindsey so... what's up with that? Is it about someone else after all? PLEASE don't say it's about Joe Walsh, lol.

nicole21290
05-20-2013, 12:10 AM
She's been pretty clear about how watching Edward/Bella reminded her of Lindsey/Stevie but, yeah, interesting what she says in IYD about it:

"I was so taken with the movie because what happened to Bella absolutely happened to me. When Edward leaves her and just LEAVES her. She's out there in the forest and she just kind of drops to her knees and that's it. She's just going to lay there and die. I have been in that position where I thought my life was over and somebody did just LEAVE me. I just started to slowly cry from the deepest part of my heart. I started thinking about the words to Lady from the Mountain. I felt this was Bella's story and also mine and at that point I became forever entrenched in the Twilight story. When people hear it, I hope they feel the hopeless desperation that she felt and that I felt when somebody calls you up and says 'the love of my life has walked away from me'. Maybe this song will help to know that it's happened to other people; that same thing happened to Stevie Nicks and she's still alive."

So, sequence of events from this:
She sees Edward leaving Bella.
This reminds of her someone leaving her
This made her think of Lady from the Mountain.
She drew parallels between the three stories, as it were,

She's been pretty clear on the song being about Lindsey soooo my thought is this 'leaving' which made her feel hopeless desperation etc is quite possibly about his leaving of the band (but really, her...) in 1987. But maybe not. :D

-

"It's strange, she runs from the ones she can't keep up with" -- is all about the love affair between Bella and Edward [in 'New Moon']. But "Some call her strange lady from the mountains/Others say she's not really real," that's written in 1976. The same with the third verse: "He loves her, but he loves his life alone as well" -- people would think that was written about Edward, but it was written about Lindsey. So this really is an ancient song that encompasses my strange and everlasting relationship with Lindsey Buckingham, and Bella and Edward, all mixed into one.

There was something vampiric, then, between you and Lindsey?

It is! Our love affair. As much as we fight and have our differences of opinion on almost everything, if anything were to happen to either of us, I would be the first one there and he would be the first one here. So it is a story [about how] love never dies.

-

Was your muse for "Moonlight (A Vampire's Dream)," which was "Twilight"-inspired, Taylor Lautner's abs?

No. It's nothing about him at all. The first and third verse were written about me and Lindsey (Buckingham, of Fleetwood Mac) in 1976; the second verse and the chorus were written about Bella and Edward. It really is an amazing blend - an ancient story blending Lindsey, Stevie, Bella and Edward, and everything in between. It's my favorite.

sodascouts

Of course! She's talking about him leaving her LATER - perhaps 1987 when he left the band, perhaps later when Lindsey got married. That makes perfect sense. Thanks!

Or perhaps a combination of the times when he managed to tear himself away. She's really not too fond of those occasions...

Something Else Reviews, May 20, 2013
http://somethingelsereviews.com/2013/05/20/it-affected-me-very-much-stevie-nicks-outlines-the-beatles-connection-in-fleetwood-macs-beautiful-child/

Stevie Nicks has spent years sorting through the tangled history of her affairs with bandmates Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood. With “Beautiful Child,” however, she was talking about someone else.

The coming-of-age song, part of Fleetwood Mac’s sprawling 1979 effort Tusk, actually focuses on a brief fling that Nicks says she had with Derek Taylor, the late road manager and press officer for the Beatles.

“It didn’t last very long, because he was married,” Nicks says in a newly posted Q&A video, “but it affected me very much, because he told me so many stories about the Beatles.”

Taylor, formerly a journalist, also worked with the Byrds, Harry Nilsson, the Monterey Pop Festival, the Beach Boys and WEA Records over the years. But he will always be best known for his time with the Fab Four, eventually showing up in two of their songs: “Blue Jay Way” finds George Harrison awaiting for Taylor to visit on a foggy night, while John Lennon’s “Give Peace a Chance” also name checks Taylor.

“Everybody has your road manager,” Nicks adds. “We had J.C., crazy J.C. (John Courage, who also worked with Savoy Brown.) Led Zeppelin had Peter Grant. The road managers are the ones who know everything. And so I learned so much about him about the whole world of the Beatles that it was stunning.”

Nicks continues her on-going U.S. tour with Fleetwood Mac, stopping tonight in Tacoma, Washington. Concerts continue through next month in California.
