View Full Version : Newbie, here a few questions
Rhiannon's mom

New to the forum, long time reader. Been a fan since I was little. Yes, my only child is 10, Rhiannon Autumn. That's her dressed as Hit Girl for Halloween. Not quite a Mac/Stevie fan yet but working on it.;)
1) Is there anyway to actually do a meet an greet with Stevie without spending a small fortune?
I'd really like to have Rhi meet her and hopefully get a photo. But these VIP prices are totally ridiculous. I know Tori Amos does these hours before her shows & doesn't charge anything.
2) Anyone know why the last verse of SOTM was left off the album version? It almost sounds like its going there but then just fades away.
3) I so much prefer the 1980's Sorcerer with MM singing, why did Stevie sing back up & not lead on her own song?
Thanks
Ar~

Welcome. You'll find most everyone here very friendly and helpful!
To answer your questions:
1. Not to my knowledge, but someone else might have a better answer.
2. 'So we make our choices, shen there is no choice.
We listen to their voices, ignoring our own voice.' Stevie sings this a LOT on the live versions from 1978-1982, and if you get the 2004 re-issue of 'Tusk' there's an outtake with the last verse. It's a great version of the song.
3. The only reason I can fathom that Stevie didn't sing lead was that they were trying to build Marilyn Martin up as a solo artist.
Hope that helps!

I met Stevie at an album signing in London when In Your Dreams came out, but she wasn't doing photo's.
Tori is VERY good to her fans - I've met her about 4 or 5 times now. But Stevie is a heck of a lot more distant with her fans.

Welcome to The Ledge. We're glad to have you. The VIP package gives you access to only Mick. You will not be able to meet any of the other band members.

I can't answer the first question, but as to the second and third question: I think probably due to time restraints, they shortened SOTM. Stevie did sing backup for Marilyn on Sorcerer and I'm sure it was to help her out. She sang backup vocals during The Wild Heart tour.

picture of Anneke van Giersbergen, she has one of the BEST female voices ever in my opinion, her work with The Gathering (Listen to their album "Mandylion", it started a genre in of itself), Devin Townsend Project (Love the album "Addicted", highly recommended!) and Agua de Annique/Anneke van Giersbergen just effing rule.

Stevie has never been and never will be much of a "meet and greet" type..When she did the CD signings a couple of years back - that was really a first for her. And that's a very controlled and quick meet and greet environment. As you will see in some of the video on youtube from the film festivals and other events - she usually is rushed to a waiting car very quickly and SOMETIMES (but rarely) will sign one or two autographs - sometimes none (as you see when she gets heckled by some loser with goat noises for "ignoring" fans).
I think Stevie has a lot fear in uncontrolled environments. She's used to living a sheltered and reclusive life and at nearly 65, I doubt that will change.
I remember one time in 2003, we got to a venue early in Knoxville and found a good spot to see Fleetwood Mac arrive..Finally, all 4 limos and all of the SUV's pulled up and every band member at least waved at our little group of less than 10 fans, EXCEPT Stevie. She was ushered in with a person holding each hand and her head down. Even her father, who was last to get out and ride in on his scooter gave a wave...

I wonder what happened because she used to be really approachable in the 70's and 80's. And she could've at least waved or smiled at you guys.

Not sure, maybe the stalker in the 90s or the guy who committed suicide at her concert? Most likely, it probably has more to do with being seen in a certain light. I don't think she likes to have her picture taken with little make up and without her hair done, etc.

She also can't see five feet in front of her without her glasses. She's probably afraid of waving to nobody and looking silly.

Thanks guys for the feedback, it's a bummer about trying to meet her, maybe I'll just get her the message that I was an extra in Twilight & I'll be in :D

Yes, Anneke is amazing! "
I wish you knew
your music was to stay forever
And I hope...." :xoxo:
She was just here in Chicago played 2 shows. It's a shame she isn't bigger here in the states. I cried when I heard she quit The Gathering, but she is definitely busier than ever with her solo & side projects. Here is a song my husband wrote 2 days after I miscarried that Anneke sang on. Never thought I'd hear them sing it together live, what a gift indeed.
