Two mid tempo songs. Both not bad, but not spectacular. I chose the one written by Stevie. (plus, I love the video for Secret Love)
"Secret Love", even though I do like "Everyday"s video better...

"Everyday" was a gorgeous video, probably my favorite solo vid of hers ever. But "Everyday" was just a bland, by the numbers song, not bad, not great. If Stevie was going to cover another songwriters song for her big comback, I don't understand why she couldn't have had much better compositions to choose & pick from. Yeah, yeah, I suppose this was a favor to Shanks for producing TISL, POTU, and FFG! But what a missed opportunity to not release something more exciting. I still lament that Stevie biggest strategic mistep of TISL was yanking the TISL version of "Thrown Down" and not releasing that as the 1st single (feat. Lindsey). And then FM messed-up AGAIN with SYW - TD should have been the 1st single in 03' as well!
I loved "Secret Love" when it was released. It's a quirky & light Stevie pop song that also sounds nostalgic. Not sure it should of been the 1st release. New Orleans, ELY, IYD, or an edited down version of "Annabel Lee"or YMBTO would have been much better choices and appealed to non-Stevie fans better imo. Not sure it even matters at this point. These bad singles choices have haunted Stevie career beginning when "After The Glitter Fades" was chosen as the 4th single from "Bella Donna."

I wish Thrown Down was on TISL too, along with My Heart, If You Ever Did Believe and maybe twisted. I think that would of made a really solid rock album.
I have to say Everyday had a good video, but my favorites are Sorcerer and For What's Worth, even though the songs are blah.

I so agree!! If TISL included "Thrown Down", "If You Ever Did Believe" & "My Heart" instead of "Everyday", TMMS, and TFFT - "Trouble In Shangri-la" would have been a minor masterpiece that even IYD would be hard to touch!

Both songs suck. I love the Secret Love demo though.

Meaning what? That it should have been released sooner, or that it shouldn't have been released at all?

"After The Glitter Fades" is a fine song, it just doesn't jump at you as an obvious radio single. I believe Stevie would have had higher singles chart success if her 4th release were "How Still My Love", Think About It" or "Outside The Rain".

hell YEAH!!! esp Think About It! amazingly uplifting song after the first 3 singles which were a tad downbeat... would have show-cased her as less of a one-trick pony

I think the Sorcerer video is the best. I loved the song anyway, but the video was icing on the cake. Even the ink was exciting.

Possibly, but by the time you're on the fourth single from an album, chart success isn't always stellar. Plus, by this time, the new Fleetwood Mac single was arriving, so that was bound to steal some of the spotlight.
