Fleetwood Mac is in Toronto April 16th. So I'm guessing Stevie will be at the Toronto screening on the 15th. How does someone get tickets for something like this.

"In Your Dreams" Stevie Nicks Documentary Scheduled For Exclusive North American Release on April 2nd

Intimate Portrait of Grammy Award Winning Artist and Member of Legendary Rock Band Fleetwood Mac as She Creates Album with Dave Stewart

Film Featured at SXSW Film Festival on March 14th in Austin, Texas with Media Q&A Red Carpet

Special Screening at Famed TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) on April 15th with Nicks Including Q&A

NEW YORK, March 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Following the tremendous positive response to the Stevie Nicks documentary "In Your Dreams", an intimate portrait of one of rock's most enduring and legendary artists, at the Hamptons International Film Festival and the Mill Valley Film Festival, this up close portrayal of Nicks recording her critically acclaimed "In Your Dreams" CD in collaboration with Dave Stewart is now scheduled to screen in over 50 theaters across North America on April 2nd. Tickets will be available on www.inyourdreamsmovie.com once they go on sale. A current schedule of cities and theaters follows this release, with more cities to be added.

The "In Your Dreams" film is being distributed by Abamorama. Co-produced and co-directed by former Eurythmic Dave Stewart, "In Your Dreams" is a portrait of the elusive Nicks as she and Stewart embark on a musical journey to write and record the critically acclaimed album "In Your Dreams." Nicks called this "the greatest year of my life" and felt compelled to share the joyful experience that she terms "the day the circus came to town" with her fans. The record was co-written by Nicks and Stewart and produced by Stewart and Glen Ballard . Watch the trailer at www.inyourdreamsmovie.com

Nicks, one of the lead singers and emotional catalyst for Fleetwood Mac , is embarking on a world tour with them beginning April 4th in Columbus Ohio. A multi Grammy Award winning artist and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Nicks allowed cameras inside her magical old mansion high atop the hills of LA with a wild cast of musicians and friends. The inner life of the legendary Nicks has by her design long been kept at a distance from the public. We learn in "Dreams" that her world features, costume parties, elaborate dinner feasts, tap dancing, fantasy creations and revealing songwriting and recording sessions all of which are captured on film. Also cameos by Edgar Allan Poe , Mick Fleetwood , Reese Witherspoon , a massive white stallion in the backyard, owls and naturally a few vampires who appear in several "home movie" style music videos.

Along with tracking the Nicks/Stewart creative partnership, "In Your Dreams" has plenty of other cinematic payoffs including rare never before seen personal scrapbook stills from Nicks' childhood and family life, and a wealth of candid backstage and performance shots taken over the last 35 years. The documentary was produced by Dave Stewart 's production company, Weapons of Mass Entertainment.

Nicks, who has sold millions of records as a solo artist and writer of such iconic songs as "Landslide," "Gold Dust Woman" and "Edge of 17," is regularly cited by stars as diverse as Taylor Swift , Kid Rock, Courtney Love , Sheryl Crow , The Dixie Chicks and John Mayer as an iconic favorite and heroine and is a continuous inspiration to the world's top fashion designers.

"She is really real. It doesn't matter if she is singing in the make-up room or in the middle of a TV interview. She is who she is, and she doesn't change," commented Stewart.

"This is our baby and we give her lovingly into your dreams. From our tribe to yours," concluded Nicks.

, how would one get a ticket to the special Toronto screening. Not to be annoying, but I really want to go to this. I'm always so jealous of you guys who live near and get to go to all the "Up close and personal" Stevie events. Now there's finally one within reach of me and I want to do everything possible to get to it.

Well, the information doesn't seem to be up yet, but you should be able to get tickets at the Toronto International Film Festival site. I bet they'll put up the info on a couple of days. www.tiff.net

Can anyone tell me if the other screenings were first come first served or was it assigned seating? I hope the Toronto Tickets are not really expensive.

For the Toronto Film Fest, it looks like the screening will be first come, first served. I found this on their site:

Do I have to line up to buy tickets?
Lineups outside theatres are usually ticketholders waiting to get into the theatres. Because there is no assigned seating, people may choose to line up early to get preferred seat selection.

There will be lineups at the Festival Box Office the day tickets go on sale (Sept. 2), but you can choose to purchase online or by phone.

http://tiff.net/thefestival/ticketsandpackages/faq

Ticket prices for their current movies vary from $13 to $16, so it will probably be in that range.

Most theaters are showing it on April 2 - one night only. The Long Beach venue, so far, is showing it on two nights. I'm starting to doubt whether there will be a DVD release. It may not be profitable for the distributor that agrees to pick it up, whoever that may be. IYD seems more like a hardcore fan doc than something that might have mass appeal, like Sound City, which already has DVD and Blu-ray releases. I hope these latest screenings generate some buzz, but it's doubtful.

The Mayfair theater is one of the oldest still running movie theaters in North America. It is 81 years old and is a great place to see movies. I volunteer for the theater by delivering the guides and in return me and a guest can attend movies for free. I wonder since the band is not performing on the 19th if they might get her. It does seem odd that they would have two showings on two separate nights as I am am not sure if there is demand in Ottawa for more then one show. I will likely be at both shows.

I don't think people in the LA area are aware (excluding us) that Stevie is going to be at the screening. Once the media get a hold of this, it should sell out in a heartbeat. There are still good seats (the last two rows) available. This is a comparatively small theater so most views are going to be fine.

Stevie Nicks doc to screen in 50 cities
Pop Candy, USA Today

http://www.usatoday.com/story/popcandy/2013/03/14/stevie-nicks-documentary/1987003/

While watching the documentary Sound City, I decided that Stevie Nicks is the best female rock 'n' roll singer of all time.

Some may disagree and put Janis up there (and Patti Smith comes close!), but I believe Stevie has ruled this field for decades. Another new documentary, In Your Dreams, offers an intimate look at Nicks' process and life outside the studio while she worked on her 2011 solo record with Dave Stewart.

Stewart co-produced and co-directed the flick, which screens in 50 cities April 2. (She kicks off a tour with Fleetwood Mac April 4.)

Below is a trailer, which teases cameos by Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and Reese Witherspoon, of all people. (Turns out Nicks met Reese's mother on a plane.) For a complete list of cities and to purchase tickets for the screening, head to inyourdreamsmovie.com.

Good! I don't think you'll regret it. When I saw Stevie in the Sound City movie on the big screen I remember thinking how cool it was and how REALLY cool it'd be to see her documentary the same way. Now we have that opportunity.

And if you end up going alone, so what. There'll be plenty of Stevie fans there to converse with. I've met some great people that way.

You convinced me to change my mind and drive the one hour and fifteen minute trek to see this movie in Pittsfield. Tickets have not gone on sale yet. I will buy 2 and then try to convince someone to go with me. I decided that seeing Stevie on a giant screen will be a very good idea.

You'll enjoy it, it's a great look at modern Stevie... how she lives & how she works. It's completely different from the Destiny Rules documentary. Stevie's just beamingly happy & a total goofball the entire time. For me, it was nice to see after all the conflict, stress, egos, & discontent that the Destiny Rules documentary exhibited. It really hit home for me why Stevie doesn't want to go back to record with the Mac. I finally get it. It was just really heartwarming for me to see that after all the travails she's been through, that Stevie is having the time of her life in her golden years.

Just prepare yourself for some niggly issues, though. My main complaint is the editing/producing was done by someone with serious ADD... all these different wacky filters on the cameras, all these quick shots back to back to back to back. It's very exhausting visually & mentally. The one way Destiny Rules is better than this documentary is the fact it told more of a chronological story & had a climax/resolution. The In Your Dreams documentary is kinda one big jumbled ADD rambling which skips from one subject to the next. As a hardcore Stevie fan though, you'll enjoy it nonetheless.

makes sense - i guess the difference is DR was done by a filmmaker, while this sounds like typical Dave Stewart these days... i don't know whether he's ever been diagnosed but with all his different projects, tweets, etc, he certainly seems to behave very ADD-ish.

I forget which of Stevie's IYD videos (Secret Love? Moonlight? both?) I could not stomach because there is a cut to some new shot literally every 2-3 seconds.

Does anyone think these screenings will sell out? I'm wondering if I'll be able to go the day of and get tix at the door. For those in the Philly area, this show is a great precursor to the FM show coming on April 6, just 4 days later!!! What a great week that will be!:]

I wonder if she will hit the media trail with interviews and promoting the showings of the IYD documentary .

Jay Leno ,Jimmy Fallon Jimmy Kimmel,Craig Ferguson ,Ellen,David Letterman and the other talkies and magazine shows.

This poor little girl will be so tired between the FM tour and promoting the IYD docu and Dave G's docu all going on.

I hope she will be ok and take some breaks between whats going on.

I think certain screenings will sell out, depending on the city/market. I tried to order 10 tickets at the Philly screening just to test out how many I could buy at once. It let me, so there are at least 10 seats available at that screening, as of 3/19.

Is anyone seeing any local, i.e., non-Ledge, promotion for any of these IYD screenings? I haven't seen a single mention or reference to it anywhere in the local NY media. In fact, I have only heard Howard Stern make a brief reference to the documentary on his radio show. Apparently he received a DVD screener! Anyway, he said that it was really good, but didn't know if Stevie's new album had come out yet.. He said that she sounded great and in particular he liked a song called "I'm the One." He tried to play the song, but couldn't find it in the Sirius system.

Given the complete lack of direct promotion, I suspect Dave/Stevie/Reprise's assumption was that the screenings will be promoted via word-of-mouth. Or via online communities like this. As such, don't you think they could have had someone in their organizations reach out to us on the Ledge the way Ken Caillait reached out when he was writing his book? It's like, why are we doing the heavy lifting for them when they refuse to acknowledge our existence (and it's not a well kept secret that their "people" really do read the Ledge. Hi Karen :wavey:).

Indie house movies don't really get a lot of press. People who see these types of movies will usually seek out the information themselves through the theater web sites or cafe flyers. In Your Dreams is a very niche-y documentary, like most art films, that really only appeals to a small audience; in this case, Stevie's hardcore fans. Of course, there have been examples of independent films generating buzz and crossing over into the mainstream, but In Your Dreams is not going to be that film, given the mixed reviews it has received. Given how poorly In Your Dreams has sold, we're lucky to be getting a documentary at all!

As for reaching out to fans, Stevie's immediate team has always been a very insular and protective group, so they are not going to reach out to us directly - ever. The only people who will be reaching out to fans are PR people that they contract with to promote new releases. For example, for the Rumours reissue, their PR guy contacted me, Peter (Nickslive), and a few other fans with sites to hold giveaway contests. Or in the case of me posting pictures of Stevie's house on my web site, they will have a liaison like John Kinney to ask me to remove them. :) That's as close as it's going to get.

I never thought Ken Caillat was that close to Stevie.

Oh, I totally get that this is a low-budget, limited release situation. However, it costs them (i.e., Dave's people, Stevie's people, etc.) ZERO to reach out to fans via the Ledge or your site. Again, the decidedly hasty assumption on their part is that fan sites and communities will be responsible for spreading the word so that they don't have to do the heavy lifting themselves. There isn't even a thanks or any token of appreciation for sites like yours (e.g., free tickets?) that promote the movie (that I am aware of). As the old saying goes, if a tree falls in the forest...

Sure, a nod of approval is always nice. I guess it's how you look at it. I'm actually approached for the contest giveaways, including the free theater tickets. I don't see that as being taken advantage of, but their acknowledgment that I am a link to fans. To me, that's a compliment. Plus, they issue free copies of releases in exchange, so they do reciprocate. I think most fans who run longtime fansites do it for the love of the artist and his/her music, so they're happy to promote them without expectation of credit, at least I am.

As for the promotion of the IYD doc, I'm not sure if they've relied on fans to spread the word. They built a good film site, attended the film fest circuit, pitched theaters, and used Sound City as a cross-promotional vehicle. People who like Stevie Nicks and indie flicks will find the information through these outlets. Yes, the fans made it viral, but that's how social media campaigns gain traction today.

But the link (https://tickets.landmarktheatres.com/(S(gstfr2x5h1cv4kd4orjtqvuh))/Ticketing.aspx?ShowDate=4/2/2013&TheatreID=273) from their homepage takes you a page that has a strike-through the 7:00 show and says "sold out." You might want to see if you can get seats anyway through the first link.

I'll be at the Mayan Theatre tonight for the only Denver showing of In Your Dreams.

I'm sure I won't be the only one there - there are other fans on The Ledge who live in Denver and probably know about it, but I have to ask, since there is no promotion for this, seemingly at all, how in the world are people supposed to know about it?

I was having breakfast at El Diablo on Friday, across from the Mayan, and they didn't even have a poster in the window.

There is, essentially, not one single external indicator that Stevie's documentary is playing, unless something was put up today.

I am glad the show is selling out elsewhere, but I honestly expect to be one of 6 or 7 people there tonight.

Hi Matthew! I will be at the show tonight, Hope to see you!
I called the Mayan Theatre and the manager told me that they've sold half the theatre (@ 200 tickets, the theatre holds 400.) And they expect to sell a few walk ins I suppose as well. So at least it doesn't sound like it will be pandemonium, esp with Stevie's slightly older fan base;) It probably helped that it is also playing in Boulder @ an hour away. But yeah, zero promotion, other than fan sites & Facebook & Twitter, so half the theatre isn't too shabby I suppose

Just returned from the 7:00pm show at the Landmark River Oaks Theater in Houston, Texas (Sandy Stewart's neighborhood). It was quite a packed house. The theater was not sold out, but it was quite full. The crowd were very jolly and into the film. There was some clapping, hooting, hollering.....this got on at least one lady's nerves.....(I heard "shut up" as a man yelled for Annabel Lee).

I absolutley LOVED the segment about NEW ORLEANS (one of my favorite songs on the record). ALSO spotted at the Landmark River Oaks Theater for the screening was none other than BROOKE ALYSON (singer from the band NIGHTBIRD: THE STEVIE NICKS TRIBUTE BAND). Miss Brooke was waiting in line to entire the theater dressed in full Stevie attire.......My friends and I always spot Brooke at every Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac event in the Houston area and all around Texas.

Rochester's Little Theater: about 100-150 seats & the theater was about 3/4 full for the 7pm showing. I thought that was pretty impressive considering it's not a large city/major market. When we left there were people waiting for the 9pm showing.

Finally saw the documentary last night. It was indeed a "magical little film". Though not quite as revealing as I hoped it would be in terms of the creative process, I thought it was very well put together and very entertaining. I think they did a great job mixing interviews, video and actual footage. The "New Orleans" and "Solider's Angel" segments got me very choked up. I could have watched the 4 hour unedited version of this no problem but I understand that it had to be edited. :distress: Lastly, I feel that the documentary succeeded, at least for me, in drawing the viewer into the music of In Your Dreams and leaving them wanting to hear more.

I saw the documentary last night as well in the Southside of Pittsburgh and there were a lot of people there I was pleasantly surprised. I freaking loved it but wish it would have been a little longer. I could watch Stevie for days she is so freaking hilarious! I loved when they were working on Everybody Loves You as well as all the footage about New Orleans even though it was so sad! I loved Stevie trying to explain the drum part to Mick on that as well. I laughed so hard during the credits when Stevie was pretending to be talking like her dog and her and Dave singing Natural Woman was freaking hysterical. Ooh I almost forgot about her saying about dancing to disco music and then she was turning the lights on and off -ha! I have done that so many times - ha!! Stevie is just so fascinating to watch I could sit there and watch her for days.
Ahh after watching this film I had to go home and listen to In Your Dreams again. It really is such a great album!

She really is hilarious. I always thought Stevie was very funny in interviews but in her own element she's even funnier. The dog bit was hysterical. Stevie definitely has opinions and wants things done her way. Mick seemed to know this and just went along with it. I'm still a little surprised how "hands on" she really is, in all aspects of her music. I never would have thought she'd be giving Mick direction on his drumming...

I saw the Documentary last night at Canal Place in New Orleans....during the segment about the song New Orleans, I noticed the audience was wide-eyed and riveted to the Katrina footage and the process behind making the song, and Stevie's comments about the government...when the segment ended the audience broke out in applause....I brought 5 friends who are only casual Stevie/FM fans...when we exited the show they were all blown away by it! Now all of us can't wait to see Stevie with Fleetwood Mac when they appear at New Orleans Jazzfest next month....:]

yeah the part where she was intstructing Mick was such a surprise to me as well. i never thought she was that much involved with everything which makes me appreciate her even more. lol i cant imagine how that would have worked out if she was instructing Lindsey how to play his guitar -ha ha!!!
i also loved her playing dreams and her voice sounded so good there. she even did the high part on the song which makes me angry that she doesnt try to do that in concert. i really hope if this comes out on dvd that they included some extra footage or something.

Dave Stewart Interview with Lee Callahan

Seattle CBS Local
http://jackseattle.cbslocal.com/2013/04/02/showing-april-2-only-the-stevie-nicks-dreamy-documentary-eurythmics-dave-stewart-tells-all/

Playing one night only, April 2nd, in theaters around the country, “In Your Dreams” – The Stevie Nicks documentary, about the making of Stevie’s latest album of the same name, In Your Dreams…

The man behind the album, musician and music producer, solo-artist, and co-member of the Eurthymics, Dave Stewart, talked about working with Stevie on both the film and the album and, about strong women rockers, (Annie Lennox, and now Stevie Nicks). “I’ve worked with many artists, Bono, Brian Ferry, Mick Jagger, but there’s always been a constant association with strong female vocalists.”

About the film: “It goes in and out of reality, manifesting what goes on in Stevie’s mind.” Dave said that the more they taped, the more Stevie got into it, and soon owls, white horses and lots of lights appeared on the set. “It’s a movie for Stevie Fans, about the inside world that Stevie inhabits, and the inside of her big beautiful house.” We learn in “Dreams” that her world features costume parties, elaborate dinner feasts, fantasy creations and revealing songwriting and recording sessions, all of which are captured on film. The film is whimsical and full of fantasy, Dave even participates as a top-hat wearing tap dancer.

Actress Reese Witherspoon shows up in the film, too, and some magic happened: “Yes,” says Stewart, “She invited Stevie to stay at her condo in Nashville, and Stevie replied well, ‘that would be cheap’, Reese then said, ‘nothing’s cheaper than free.’”From there, Stevie and Dave wrote, sang, and recorded ‘Cheaper Than Free’ together, and put the very lovely song on both their albums.

Stewart has had a rich career as a songwriter and producer for big name rockers, and for Tom Petty, he co-wrote Don’t Come Around Here No More. “I was actually writing it for Stevie, and Tom said he wanted to finish writing it with me, and for his album.” And so it was.

Rock’s biggest names have come out of England – The Beatles, Stones, Led Zeppelin, and yes, The Eurythmics. I asked Dave Stewart what was in the water over there. “It’s very dark and cold and rainy over there, we have to make our own amusement, plug in our guitars in our garages… a lot like Seattle, right?” Absolutely, Dave.

Before we parted, Mr. Stewart reflected on Ms. Nicks a bit more, saying she’s the most hard-working and focused artist, while some people make think she’s a space cadet or hippie, but she’s full-on, a whirlwind.

I pointed out that Stevie plays a mean tambourine and Dave said, “Oh she had to, because in Fleetwood Mac, they’d all take turns singing, so Stevie thougt, ‘what am I going to do, stand there?”

Dave Stewart has released two new albums of his own in the past three years – The Ringmaster General and The Blackbird Diaries.

The only thing in the movie that disappointed me were the parts where she played piano, especially when she played Dreams. She made so many errors in her playing. We all know she can play wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than that because we have the tapes to prove it.

Just wondering if anyone has heard when the documentary will be available in Australia, either to purchase or if it is coming to selected cinemas?

If someone could help that would be great.

Thanks in advance,

"Stevie Nicks: In Your Dreams" Documentary at the Rio Theatre

Stevie Nicks: In Your Dreams is an intimate portrait of Stevie Nicks, the Grammy-winning artist and member of legendary rock band Fleetwood Mac, as she creates an album with Dave Stewart of Eurythmics fame. Co-produced and co-directed by Nicks and Stewart, the film goes behind the scenes as Nicks and Stewart embark on a musical journey to write and record the critically acclaimed album In Your Dreams.

Monday, June 10
7 + 9:30 pm
Tickets $8 advance/$10 at the door
19+ w/ bar service
www.riotheatretickets.ca

Nicks, who is presently on a world tour with Fleetwood Mac, called this adventure "the greatest year of my life" and felt compelled to share the joyful experience that she terms "the day the circus came to town" with her fans. The album was written by Nicks and Stewart and produced by Stewart and Glen Ballard, the famed producer of Alanis Morissette's landmark album Jagged Little Pill. Ballard also appears in Stevie Nicks: In Your Dreams, along with Nicks' Fleetwood Mac band mates Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood, and actress Reese Witherspoon.

Stevie Nicks: In Your Dreams premiered at The Landmark Theatre in Los Angeles on March 31, 2013, with Stevie Nicks introducing it and taking part in a Q&A. The film then had exclusive showings on April 2nd at theaters in more than 75 cities across the U.S. and Canada.

Virgil Films' Joe Amodei, who was recently named Film Festival Director of the music-focused CBGB Festival, said: "Stevie Nicks: In Your Dreams is that rarest of music documentaries, one that shows the artist actually in the process of creating new music as we watch and listen. To be working with a musical icon like Stevie Nicks is indeed a dream."

"Nicks is like a USB thumb drive in lace, a small package containing a variety of pop-culture personality tropes. She has been the regulator of weight; the titrator of substances; the veteran of a love triangle; the female artist who escaped the long shadow of a male collaborator; the commercial artist who passed through wildly different stations of commerce; and the canny performer whose utilitarian decisions and whimsical tastes became the totems and scripture of a tribe. She survived both the corrosive lift of cocaine and the lead apron of Klonopin." - The New Yorker
