i go back and forth on Soldier's Angel, but if i'm honest i'd probably not really give it the time of the day if it weren't for LB on it.

My picks in order are:

1. Everybody Loves You (I love everything about this song - the lyrics, Stevie's supple voice, the harmony with Dave during the chorus, the orchestration - just superb!)
2. Moonlight (An exquisite vocal and a clever re-write of Lady From The Mountain. It's a shame that the "go with her" segment was not included because I think it would have worked a treat. Also wish it was titled differently - "Strange" would have been preferable.)
3. Annabel Lee (I'd been waiting for this to be recorded for years and always thought it would be with Fleetwood Mac. It turned out sounding like it had been!)
4. You May Be The One (What a great little number this is - the whole thing just works so well. Great tune and wonderful vocal arrangement featuring the girls. Should have been a single.)
5. New Orleans (This really surprised me. I had been fearing the worst during the years preceding it's release because I just didn't think she'd be able to pull off an ode to the city without embarrassing herself. I was so glad to be proven wrong. Love the coda of "go on down" - truly beautiful.)

These are all classic Stevie songs in my opinion and stand with the best of her material. They all made an immediate impression with me and nearly two years later, I haven't wavered in my adoration for them.

Honourable mentions must go to For What It's Worth and Italian Summer.

All things considered, In Your Dreams is a rather wonderful album that I certainly didn't expect at this stage of Stevie's career, particularly considering the ten year gap between albums. The only track I still can't tolerate is Soldier's Angel, but I would be curious to hear the full band version. I think it would benefit from a fuller arrangement because there's not much of a tune there to withstand the bare-bones production. It's frustrating because with some tweaking of the lyrics, it could have actually worked for me. I would have favoured a less literal and more cryptic approach. I guess at the end of the day, I really have a problem with the subject matter, but then that's just me...

It's heartening to see all the love for You May Be The One. This song really ought to have been promoted more and I still can't believe she didn't tackle it in concert. It would have been a breeze for her live and would have also highlighted the girls.

I completely agree! YMBTO is a solid song! It would have been a great single with some creative editing. Something about the song reminds me of The Eagles. The chorus mostly with the D, C, D, C, D, C. G, D Em chord progression. I love everything about this song. The bluesy production, The lyrics, the melody, the Harmonies! Everything is perfect!! And it's about Lindsey!;) It could be the new Silver Springs! LOL

Elle and Christopher, I'm in total agreement with you both. Cast out the dirge that is "Soldier's Angel" and actually impress us with something of true substance ("You May Be The One"). Regarding the Eagles comparison, I seem to recall someone here likening it to "Witchy Woman" around the time of it's release in 2011.
Has anyone noticed that "You May Be The One" and "Moonlight" have been on the majority of people's lists?
Also, what ever happened to those supposed remixes of "Moonlight"?
PS Everyone needs to remember to boo and hiss if "Soldier's Angel" does make it into the setlist. I dare you!!

I think the biggest difference would be that we are allowed to give our vote several times in the other thread, whereas here we give it only once.
That would explain why "Everybody Loves You" is not as strong in this poll than in the survivor thread.

I'm quite surprised by some results in both threads, though.

1) I would have never thought that so many people love "You May Be The One" as I would't call it a standout song at all. That's just MY opinion, so don't kill me... ;)

2) Many people really seem to hate both "Soldier's Angel" and "Cheaper Than Free". I don't understand this either. Truth to be told, "Soldier's Angel" sounds to me like
some forgotten "Tusk" song... And a very good one indeed.
And "Cheaper Than Free"... Yeah, it may have cheesy lyrics, but the harmonies are absolutely beautiful and I think that it's a beautiful closing song.

I still adore this record almost 2 years on. If I had to pick my top five:

New Orleans (love the brush by and dress up towards the end in that cool falsetto that is trademark early career Stevie)
Moonlight: Very nice vocal throughout the entire song, the only irk is the "sat in the chair for months just staring", but like the "guardian, it's now you know", she sings it so well that it sounds good.
Annabel Lee: Nicely performed, a little long towards the end, but a favourite.
For What it's Worth: Nice song throughout.
Wide Sargasso Sea: Nice build up from the beginning to end although a little confused by her choice of song title.
