As of tomorrow, I'll be in the process of legally changing my name. As such, I'd like to change my username. Is there a way to do that without creating a new account and letting the old username die naturally?

Hey Steve, I don't think it's possible without Michele having to re-wire cyberspace. I will send her a msg for you. :D

Just as an FYI, creating a second account isn't an option, either. Our server will catch the duplicate IP address & boot it. We can't change screen names without crashing the website & corrupting our database. So unfortunately, you'll have to live with your screen name. :sorry:

Just curiosity here. What if he were to register from a different location/IP? Would that work? And would he then be able to use his new login at his original location/IP address? Or would the server freak out about that too?

You could do it, yes.
But michele brought up a good point that we have to take issue with that because then we have dual IDs for users, which we want to avoid as we can't "delete" the profile without causing a problem.
The alternative is that michele could "ban" your old profile and you could create a new one at the other IP/location. I think that's only way it would work... but if we do do that, then we've gotta start doing it for everyone right? I don't know how michele wants to handle it...

No, that is not an option. No one should have more than one user id.
