On Letterman the other night. Stevie made the comment about a 17 minute version of Rhiannon. I have never heard about that. Have any of you ever heard of that? Or know how to get a copy?

I think he was referring to the early live Rhiannon, which seemed like 17 minutes. He was joking. I love Dave and love that he loves Stevie.

Well I didn't take it as a joke. Stevie was the one making the comment about the 17 minutes. I have heard the 13 minute version. I have watched the reply and it just doesn't come across as a joke to me. maybe I know Letterman's humor can be very dry.

Stevie was the one making the comment about the 17 minutes.
don't ever recall a 17 minute version, and I had enough experience with her demos/master reels/etc. to say I think Stevie's memory is still fragged after one too many "Stand Back" spins, lol!

Thing is, the 13 minute one is just the song repeated twice - recorded in 1978 for the Rhiannon movie soundtrack - ther are no extra verses or lyrics.
There is no 17 minute Rhiannon, I'd be willing to bet on it. Stevie is an exaggerator.

How long is that dreary version at the end of disc 3 of the Enchanted box set?

There is a 18 minute Sara and a 21 minute piano-demo of Gypsy (did something ring?)

I don't believe they were being literal..... it was his way of busting on her that her songs can be quite loooong...... It's like saying "there were a million people there and we waited days in line" etc. It was just a figure of speech and she good-naturedly went along with it.

OK ALL, thanks for your help I have been an avid follower of Rhiannon. I am part Welsh and named my first daughter after. So it just caught my attention. I was not aware of a longer version either. I have heard it several times live and have heard the 13 minute version.

I totally agree, Dave was busting on her for the loooonnng versions....he mentioned something similar to Lindsey when he was on the show pushing Out of the Cradle (I think...wow that was a long time ago!)....I haven't seen the clip in years, but it was something about the long versions of Fleetwood Mac songs when played live.

Didn't Stevie say in an interview a while back that she and Dave Stewart did a 17 minute long version of Rhiannon together? Not recorded or anything, just playing for fun before they recorded the In Your Dreams album. I thought she said that she was playing it on the piano and then he joined in on guitar.
