Joe's a prick! I will never forgive him for calling Stevie a road f**k on Howard Stern:distress:
And generally for his dismissive flippant attitude towards her & appearing to not respect her. I believe if Stevie were asked today, I don't think she would call him out as the great love of her life these days. I'm convinced her attitude towards him has evolved.

She basically denounced her former statement when someone asked her about that during the IYD promo, if I recall correctly. She said it was just a bunch of drama or something of that nature. I can't remember exactly what/where.

Yeah, it would appear that Stevie wised up and finally stopped romanticizing & glorifying her on/off (83' -85') F**ked up (& coked up) relationship with Joe. An era that also had Stevie hooking up with Dave Stewart, and having a relationship with Les Dudek. And those are just the other ones that we know about.;)

I don't know. My sister was playing with her band on 6th Street in Austin back in 1986 and Joe sang with the band....he looked like sh*t. She still has the pic with them all together. OMG... real bad. I will try to post it. :distress:

Hmmmm, still not seeing it. I fall into the group of people who can only rationalize that mess by remembering that Stevie was on drugs.... otherwise ewwwww!
On the other hand, Lindsey is so hot that I could see women still wanting to be with him if he was a serial killer.
The contrast between the two is mind boggling.
I love Stevie, but what the hell was she thinking?

Joe in 1973: hot (http://joewalshonline.com/images/JWalshShirtless.jpg).
Joe in 1983: going downhill (http://joewalshonline.com/images/JWalshUSFestBack.jpg).
Joe in 1986: basket case (http://joewalshonline.com/images/JWalshJeanPaul2.jpg).
(It should be noted that he's really turned his life around and is doing great today.)
I too am glad Stevie has stopped gushing about him as the love of her life when he has downright stated he felt nothing even close to that for her. I was embarrassed for her whenever she talked about it in an interview because it made her come across as really pathetic, almost delusional, considering how Joe has blown her off in his interviews. Even at his most tactful, he characterizes it as nothing more than a friends-with-benefits situation.
I choose to believe she just made so much of it a few years ago to knock Lindsey down a peg when they were on the outs. "Don't get a big head Lindsey.... Our relationship was nothing next to my grand romance with Joe Walsh."
CRINGE.

Joe broke it off with Stevie and she was heartbroken because she was in love with him. In similar situations with non famous people, the one who walks away views the ex differently than the one who wanted the relationship to continue. I've had a relationship where I was so totally in love yet from his point of view we were nothing more than good friend's.

Oh, that's happened to me too. That's not the pathetic part. The pathetic part is when you tell people, years later, that your one-sided relationship was the greatest romance of your life. I hope for Stevie's sake that's not really true.

One of the most illuminating remarks Stevie ever made about Joe Walsh was when she said that she fell in love with him the way that Lindsey fell in love with her. I always took that to mean that she fell in love with Joe to an extent that was not equal, or that didn't diminish even when her rational mind told her to let go. Add drugs and grief and loneliness, and you have a whole sh*tload of dysfunctionality.
Her later 'love of my life' remarks were probably truthful inasmuch as she remembered him as being someone who stood out from all the others. Someone she felt something for, as opposed to nothing. Even simply that being monogamous for three months (JW has said this was true during the WH tour) was a Big Deal for people like them.
I think her verdict on him now is expressed every time she says how much she likes that song, 'Somebody I Used To Know'.

Next to her other 80s boyfriends like Anderson and Iovine, he looks like a Greek god. It was the drinking that was wearing him down.

I don't think Iovine was THAT ugly, it was just the one eyebrow thing :P. I don't even think Mick was hotter than Joe or Jimmy, just very different styles

Christopher, yes I feel the exact same way about him. I was listening to an interview on Youtube with JW, made last year, and Howard Stern was asking him about the women and he said to Joe that Stevie, must, certainly be on the top of his priority when it comes to women and Joe said yes and that "she was special"! Joe also said that Stevie, "helped me with my 'Confessor' album!" He even admitted to Howard that he treated women "badly" and was sorry!

I remember reading an interview somewhere and Stevie said "I'll never love someone as much I loved Joe, and will never have someone love me as much as Lindsey did". Something like that. I feel like this interview was not from that long ago. Anybody know?

I remember that too. It was basically - to paraphrase - "I love Joe like Lindsey loves me" - something to that effect. I think it was from 2006 or thereabouts.

Awwww..... And clearly on some level he still really does, or he wouldn't be working so hard to make things work out. I can get pretty cynical about them doing things for the money or even professional legacy and all that...but I really get the feeling Lindsey has real regrets about a lot of the sh*t that went down between them over the years and wants to close things out at this stage of their lives on a good (or at least better) note.

So, I was on youtube watching a River Dance/Clogging combo (don't ask - it's an Irish-Catholic-Jew thing) and this video popped up in the sidebar so I thought I would check it out. It surprised me - a lot. Shows another side of Joe that I've never seen and I hope it means he's gotten his act together.

If you listen to Joe talk, he's dismissive about everything... so I don't take anything he says to heart. He's just a grizzly old recovering addict/veteran rock star.
For that matter, I don't really believe Stevie's words on anything, either. Her stories change so often, and are always greatly embellished. This whole Joe Walsh "love of her life" thing came out of nowhere after 2 decades, then died a pretty prompt death after several mentions. The woman's just flighty.
So when it comes down to it, I enjoy Joe for being a great songwriter & performer. I don't care if he did or didn't date Stevie, if he was bad to her or not, etc. His relationship with her, to whatever extent it once existed, holds no sway on my opinion of the man & his music. To hear Stevie tell it, she was certainly no angel during that time herself. I honestly never connect these two in my mind. I just don't think whatever they had was more than a drug & booze filled extended hookup, and we all know they both had plenty of those...

Showtime debuted a new 3 hour Eagles special "History of the Eagles" this weekend. There is a new but very short interview with Stevie at the end of Part II. Something about the person who has slept with the most different members of the band or something. :sorry: Seriously, this is a new interview and she looks a little different in it. Not sure when her part of shot. Sorry I can't post a screen shot yet.
As for the special, I was disappointed. Not only was it not put together as good as the Tom Petty or George Harrison documentaries but Don and Glen came off as arrogant and power hungry, unable or unwilling to get along with the other members of the group. For the most part, they wouldn't allow the other member's song to appear on the albums and wouldn't let them sing on their own songs. If that wasn't enough, they expected to get more of the money than the other members and also the songwriting royalties. It's as if there wasn't enough money to go around, especially considering they have one of the best selling albums of all time! Maybe I need to watch it again though. Some really nice shots of Linda Ronstadt.
They did manage to get Joe sober though. Hard to believe he didn't sober till 1994. Maybe that is why he is such a vegetable these days. :blob2: Even with that, he still one of the more talented guitarist out there.

Three hour special. I am jealous. Azoff how come you never do anything for FM?
