Anyone have a furry child who has this? My girl is 14 and she had the ACTH test yesterday.

She is on the cusp (tested 21 - official dx has to be 22) so they are doing another test next week.

She is not in distress although she has symptoms. :distress:

yes my 13 year old( her breed has a life expectation of 8 years ) was diagnosed with it ,but she is being monitored she has not shown any symptoms so we are holding off on any medication . and agreed if we do a low dose of anything to start

a friend just lost his dog who had it he was 16 , he was 12 when he was diagnosed and went on medication immediately , he had a life expectancy of 9-10 years , and was doing really well up until a few weeks ago and was slowly declining in his health.

talk with your vet consider the options and do what you think is best , her activity mood and over all health . it's so hard as they age , they can't tell us, may be start medication using a low dose if it is needed .

Thanks olive.

We had to put the second test on hold because she was vomiting everything she ate. Well, come to find out, the Cushings increased her appetite so much, that she was wolfing her food down without chewing and couldn't digest it. Once we figured that out, I have smashed her kibbles up, added some wet food and all is well in that department now.

She is constantly hungry and demanding food. Just for that "disruption" in normalcy alone, meds might be worth it. It IS hard, not knowing what hurts etc. :distress:

They are our special kids, furry or not. http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/images/icons/heart.gif
