Stevie seemed to like the comment the reporter made about being the only girl in a boys club....still a little boy crazy after all these years..
Mama is looking good but seems to be unsettled. I get the feeling she's nervous as hell about her return to The MAC.....

"I'm still working on my documentary" could very well mean "My people are still trying to find a distributor to release it on DVD."
Stevie often ascribes very broad definitions to the words she uses.

That's exactly how I interpreted this. The doc is completed, front to back, buttoned up. I saw it twice with my very own eyes. I really doubt that they went back in to re-edit, though I suppose anything is possible. But more likely "still working on my documentary' means she & her mgmt are still working towards getting it released, but FM is now her forefront obligation.

It's so cute that Stevie said it's like the Volturi were coming for her. Lindsey and Mick would be good Volturi, really.

Well, I couldnt get the link to work on my mobile phone, but this quote made me happy because at least she MENTIONED IT. I was beginning to think her mgmt was telling her to zip it about the documentary.
I've been cynical about this as well, but I'm taking this as a sign of life for the damn thing.

'Sound City' Documentary: Dave Grohl And Stevie Nicks Celebrate An LA Legend
Icon Stevie Nicks recorded some of the most famous music in rock with Fleetwood Mac at Sound City. "When we moved to Los Angeles in 1971, we lived with our producer Keith Olsen, and he was the one that ordered that board and customized that board. He is like the dad of that board," she told HuffPost. When asked about her own documentary, she said, "I'm going back into Fleetwood Mac, and it's like the Volturi is coming for me. I don't love being filmed, and I don’t love all the stuff you have to think about instead of thinking about your music. I don’t love the whole vanity thing, it bugs me. I'd never want to be a movie star."
Grohl recorded Nirvana's generation-changing 'Nevermind' album at Sound City and calls this documentary the most important project of his career.
"I'm telling the story of human beings making music -- showing Paul McCartney writing a song or Stevie Nicks and Neil Young talking about the human element of music and how important it is that human beings do it with other human beings," he said. "That’s way more important than a ****ing record."
"It’s a much broader conversation, and it's meant to inspire people to do the same thing," Grohl continued. 'When I was a kid, and I saw another 12-year-old in a punk rock band I thought, well f*ck, I want to be in a punk rock band too. It's exactly what inspired me to do it. Seeing another person do it."
"Sound City" will be released Feb. 1 and will have a star-studded LA premiere on Jan. 31 with a special concert at the Palladium.

I'm not sure what this part is supposed to mean.... FM isn't being filmed, so is she now doing her Stevie thing and slowly, after the fact, starting to diss her last project... i.e., is she losing patience/interest in the documentary and revealing that she really didn't enjoy the process of being filmed in the studio while working on IYD? She's already said in several interviews how when being filmed you now have to come to the studio in hair and makeup and maybe not how you normally would.... I'm starting to think maybe she's just got ADD (speaking as someone who is myself afflicted with it) and can't stay with something through the long tedious haul it sometimes takes to get it out to the public.

I wouldn't read that much into it. She's said similar things many times, so it's probably how she really feels. She mentioned the hair and make-up thing even before the IYD doc was out, and I'm pretty sure she said it about Destiny Rules too. And the not-wanting-to-be-a-movie-star thing has popped up a lot over the years.

I interpret this as "Still looking for a way to make a ton of cash off of this, since artistic value alone means nothing to me and if I cannot profit, I'll shelve it."
Which is sad.
Just put the damn thing on iTunes, or for free on YouTube, or Netflix - or find a damn indie label that would be proud to have it to release on DVD.
I swear, money has stood in the way of too many potential Stevie projects. She still sees herself as that mega-millons selling artist that she never really was.

I can't believe she ever entertained the thought of making money off of this. I think she doesn't want to lose money by trying to put it out herself, but I don't think she had dreams of profit with this endeavor. I never paid attention, but did Tom's Running Down a Dream make money? If he didn't, I don't think she ever thought for a second that she would. She was just documenting a fun experience and hoping she'd be able to share it.
I would say she didn't see the point in DR because it was a drag, was a video record of an album she didn't want to make and wasn't going to make money anyway, but she seemed to have a different mindset going into this IYD one, buoyed by Happy Pants Dave.

You make good points. There's nothing wrong with her making money off the film, if she can, but I feel if she *really* wanted to get it out there, she'd find a way, even at a loss.
I don't know anything about Tom's film, so I can't comment on that.
Of course Stevie's not filthy rich, but taking a (hopefully?) moderate loss has got to be preferable to a bigger loss, which will surely be the result from doing nothing with it.

I would say that Stevie if pretty much filthy rich, but I don't think she thought she would make money off this. She was having problems finding a deal for her concerts and now this. It's a lot harder for her as a solo act.

My take on this is that the documentary was basically Dave's baby. It was his idea, he had to talk Stevie into making it, and it sounds like she wasn't too keen on the idea at first (having to dress up, put on makeup every day, etc). Sure, Stevie is probably happy with the finished product, but now that Dave is pretty much done with it, it's probably not that much of a concern to her to get a wide release.

It reminds me of her WH show that was recorded and suppose to be released and then she didn't like how it came out, and depsite it all being pro-shot, it was never released. Well, other than we got to see the bad quality bootleg. All she had to do was edit some of the talking between songs. Although we all like that stuff, it kind of showed she was "out of it." But it was such an awesome show, yet we have no official concert video from the WH period. It's such a bummer. Can't they release it independently?
Thanks for posting the little interview clip. Love her hat and coat.

Vanity. Stevie can say all she wants how she's not into vanity and she could never be a movie star because of it blah blah blah... but make NO mistake about it....she is VERY aware of her image (both literally her photos etc and her perception) and is very very controlling of her image and always has been. In the very early days of FMac we might have seen some spontaneous behind-the-scenes stuff (her with the crew etc) but we haven't for a long time and if she has anything to say about it we never will. We will only ever see the image of Stevie that she wants us to see. Fair enough, it's her image/life/career....but it comes at a price in terms of the artistic output we see (or more often, don't get to see)

Vanity. Stevie can say all she wants how she's not into vanity and she could never be a movie star because of it blah blah blah...
I think it's the opposite. She's too into vanity to be a movie star because you have to worry about how you look even MORE than you do as a rock 'n' roller.
There is a possibility that Stevie is wanting to edit some of the culled footage back into the documentary. Plus if she is planning an eventual DVD release, maybe she also wishes to include the film clips that were made for nine of the album's songs in their entirety? (The only tracks to my knowledge that didn't have clips directed for them were "In Your Dreams", "New Orleans", "Soldier's Angel" and "The Ghosts Are Gone", but all of these were performed live and so she could include those versions plus the whole Wiltern show from her birthday in 2011.)
It's interesting that someone made a reference to Tom Petty's "Runnin' Down A Dream" documentary because I've been thinking for quite some time that Stevie may have been inspired by his four hour plus opus. She may just decide to cobble everything back together and give us the three hour version of "In Your Dreams" on disc. Stranger things have happened...

Tom's documentary was directed by Peter Bogdanovich, a major film director (most of his biggest work was a while ago, but nevertheless) and 4 hours. Sorta like the George Harrison and Bob Dylan docs done by Scorsese. Stevie's was put together by Dave Stewart, and, no offense to Dave, there is a world of difference. I also think Tom has a different sense of reality and is savvy and more importantly very engaged in the business side of his career to an extent that Stevie is not, so there is a lot of context in Tom's documentary, which covers his whole career, and where his work fits in in the larger context of music history etc... Stevie's documentary is about one particular piece of work and what it was like getting it made. While I'd love to see several hours of that footage, the type of documentary it is and its scope probably limits it to a much shorter time.
I just hope *something* actually gets released. :(

I don't blame her for being concerned about the way she looks. The way the media (and society in general) tears people apart in the blink of an eye for imperfections would make anyone feel insecure and make anyone paranoid about what gets out there. I think MOST people feel that way, I'd venture to say, but we just aren't celebrities.
I think what Stevie meant by not being into vanity was that she doesn't want to have to worry EVEN MORE about what she looks like than she already does. If you're a movie star, the way you look is directly related to your livelihood. Your body is your medium.

I don't know why she would even bother making the documentary then, if she is going to worry so much about looks to the point of being obsessive about it. But once you tell your fans it is on the way, it kind of stinks to then not do it. I mean really, how awful can a ny little small parts be, and if it's that bad, edit it out. If it they haven't finished doing that by now, give it up. I mean, really.
So, unless it's funding for it, or trying to strategize the release with like the FM tour, I just don't get it. Can't they release it independently? Sell it online from a website. We'd take it!

It's got to be the latter. As far as the IYD documentary, Stevie looked great. There is no Stevie in her bathrobe, without make-up, behind the curtain moments. All the direct interview footage is carefully filmed with perfect lighting, same with the music video montages. And all the raw footage collected of Stevie working on recording, or scenes with Dave and Glen or even Waddy, Sharon & Lori, are tightly edited as in the "Cheaper Than Free" video or the preview of the making of In Your Dreams pt.1 & pt.2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjyAasrR-5M.
Don't forget that Stevie and Karen did most of the final editing, getting the documentary down to a palatable size. Stevie herself said at the Q&A directly after the 1st screening at the Hamptons that she had to cut out some favorite moments, to get the film down from over 3 hours long. I highly doubt that Stevie is holding back the doc because of vanity.

Stevie Nicks has admitted that she is somewhat uncomfortable with fame.
The 'Rhiannon' singer appears in Dave Grohl's documentary Sound City about a legendary LA recording studio, but she admitted to Hit Fix that she doesn't relish being on camera.
"I don't love being filmed and I don't love all the stuff that you have to think about instead of thinking about your music, I don't love the whole vanity thing. It bugs me," Nicks joked.
She went on to say: "I never want to be a movie star… but [being] the rock star's okay because you don't have to do that that much. You really just have to work on your music and that's really where my heart is. But this is very much fun."
Nicks will be returning to Fleetwood Mac for the group's first North American tour in three years once she finishes promoting Sound City.
Fleetwood Mac have also expressed hopes of touring Europe and Australia once their North American trek wraps up.

Sounds like Stevie's quote was originally taken out of context and applied to her own documentary, as opposed to her general feelings on being filmed and the Sound City documentary.
