Dave Grohl collaborating with Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, Trent Reznor, Lee Ving and more on 'Sound City' soundtrack
As mentioned before, the documentary about legendary recording studio Sound City is being directed by Dave Grohl and will make it's world premiere at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. Consequence of Sound reports that Dave Grohl is also doing its soundtrack, titled Sound City - Real to Reel, which features collaborations between a crazy/amazing cast of musicians, and will include "Cut Me Some Slack," the song he did with Paul McCartney, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear at the 12.12.12 Benefit at MSG this week.
Other collaborations include "You Can't Fix This" with Stevie Nicks; "The Man That Never Was" with Rick Springfield; and "Mantra" featuring QOTSA's Josh Homme and Trent Reznor. Other collaborators include legendary session drummer Jim Keltner, Cheap Trick's Rick Neilsen and former FEAR vocalist Lee Ving. The soundtrack is out March 12 and is available for pre-order via iTunes. Full Sound City soundtrack is below.

A collab with Dave Grohl...how cool! I'm looking forward to some hard-edged Stevie! It would really be nice if their track was released as a single. Stevie would get some mainstream radio airplay for sure.

I'm not a fan of Dave Grohl and his kind of {noise} tunes but I'll check the link and tune out.

Not only Grohl, but basicly the Foo Fighters. Pretty cool.

And Nirvana! Flipping love that collaboration! Go Macca! Rock it out :blob2:
Also really excited to hear Stevie collaborate. I knew we would see her sing on the documentary based on the clips/trailer, but I assumed that was just her singing one of her own songs. Very interesting! Love it

[Dazed Digital says Stevie was Snubbed by Oscar Nominations]
http://www.dazeddigital.com/music/article/18475/1/these-songs-were-snubbed
“You Can't Fix This” from Sound City (performed by Dave Grohl and Stevie Nicks)
Considering songs from Sound City for consideration sort of feels like cheating, since the film, produced and directed by Dave Grohl, was about the historic Los Angeles recording studio where he and Nirvana recorded Nevermind in 1991 (and where we met him and Rick Rubin last year). For the film Grohl collected a group of all-star musicians to record a song with him on the equipment he salvaged. Among them were Paul McCartney, with whom he and the rest of Nirvana recorded the somewhat unfortunate “Cut Me Some Slack”, which, like the album itself, was nominated for a Grammy. The best of the bunch was this haunting number done with Stevie Nicks, who can't not be haunting come to think of it.
Was YCFT even put forth for the Academy's consideration? That seems unlikely. This article just sounds like someone who wants to talk about songs they enjoy finding a way to make it seem topical.
Nice reminder for me to listen to the song again, though.

I believe it was up for consideration. I saw it up on tumbler. Somebody will know for sure after they wake up and jump on the board for their Saturday fix.

Yeah? I couldn't find anything on my admittedly half-assed google search. But that's cool to know. I still think the contention that it was seriously "snubbed" as a song is a bit silly. Much as I do like parts of it.

Thanks elle.
I was really looking for a list of all the songs that were submitted for consideration. Is there such a list available to view on the internet?
