View Full Version : Predict the 2013 tour setlist contest?

Ya'll know I like doing contests, so here's one I was thinking might be fun and different. Here's what I'm thinking. Let me know what you think as it may or may not work well.

Every few days, I'd post a thread asking what songs you think FM will include in the setlist. Each thread would break it down by either vocalist and/or album. For example one thread/poll might be, "Will any Peter songs be in the setlist?" Options might be "No"; "Yes, 1 song"; "Yes, 2 songs," etc. If you think a song will be included then post that song title with your vote. So if you think that "Oh Well" will be in the setlist then you'd vote "Yes, 1 song" then reply giving your opinion and song title. This would go on covering all FM material and even the BN album and solo material.

Remember the idea is to predict what Fleetwood Mac will have in the setlist, not what you hope is in the setlist or what should be in the setlist. You can base your predictions on the latest news, previous comments from FM, and previous tours. (I feel a Bob Welch song should be in the setlist, but I don't think one will.)

After the threads have ended we would compile of Ledge prediction setlist for FM and then when the tour begins, see how accurate we are. Perhaps a chance for each Ledgie to post his/her own prediction setlist.

Does this sound interesting and could this work?

Let me know, Ledgies and Moderators, too!

you seem to be pretty close i'd say -

you got 11 obligatory hits:
Dreams
Don't Stop
Go Your Own Way
Big Love
Landslide
Second Hand News
Rhiannon
Gold Dust Woman
I'm So Afraid
The Chain
Never Going Back Again
plus there will be Gypsy too, and Tusk for sure
so that's 13

songs SN has mentioned that are in strong consideration or definite (SS and SA):
Hold Me - possibly?
Sisters of the Moon
Silver Springs
Soldier's Angel
that's 3

maybe just 1 of the 2 new songs?
Sad Angel or Miss Fantasy
1 more

maybe they'll consider dropping SB and GI as solo contributions this time around, especially if SN is bringing in SA?
Go Insane
Stand Back

Walk a Thin Line - i so wish you are correct with this one!!
1 more!

more Tusk songs?
Angel - probably
WMYTYTO - probably not, but i so wish they would do it!!
1 more

SYW songs LB performed this year:
Bleed To Love Her probably
Come - probably not
1 more

BN songs?
Stephanie maybe
I Don't Wanna Know? (Rumours song from BN era)
so that's 1 or 2 more

Oh Well maybe?

so i have 21 or 22 probable here... obviously if they go for 21 there's not much space (but why people?? do what Bruce does: longer set!!)

It's not easy to choose the Chris' songs!
Here's mine, in no particular order:

- The Chain
- Dreams
- Gold Dust Woman
- I'm so Afraid
- Bleed to love Her
- Gypsy
- Big Love
- Go Insane
- Rhiannon
- Silver Springs
- Go your own way
- Don't Stop
- Tusk
- Never going back again
- Second hand news
- Sara
- Landslide
- Walk a thin line
- New Song 1
- New Song 2
- One song from Say You Will (Come, WTWCT, Say Goodbye, Goodbye Baby)
- Oh Well (maybe)
- You make loving fun?????

I always thought that Everybody Finds Out was an ideal song to perform live, but if they didn't play it on the SYW tour, I don't believe they could play it now...
Regards!

I'm not that good at this but .They can play tunes that were left out from the last tours that they did.Somebody should send Stevie a message to have FM play SOTM or we can start a campaign on it on Face Book or YouTube.

Looks like have gotten started! Remember to post your list of songs you think Fleetwood Mac will play, NOT what you hope they play. You make update your predictions as things develop.

I'll get a thread going with the voting for select Mac members/albums.

Awesome start!

Well, you can, as long as you don't want them to play it when you do. If you're in the front row and you shout out "Sugar Daddy!" you'll probably be favored with a look.

haha now i'm starting to think that those The Who tickets were a bargain at 750 a piece - at least that got you access to sound check and some signed stuff, plus i think a vip party for those in the first few rows. not that i could afford 750, but still...

for 2000 bucks i want to be able to hop up on stage and sing along... (or at least stand next to john with a tambourine  )

This is a fun thread, thanks. Here's my prediction:

the obvious (all of which they could skip, IMHO)

- Rhiannon
- Landslide
- I'm So Afraid
- Monday Morning
- Dreams
- Don't Stop
- Go Your Own Way
- Never Going Back Again
- Gold Dust Woman
- The Chain
- Silver Springs
- Tusk

'deep' album cuts to surprise us:

- Walk A Thin Line (okay, I admit, this is more hope than speculation)
- That's All For Everyone (just a hunch)
- Angel
- Blue Letter

songs from the BN album (or related):

- Don't Let Me Down Again (wouldn't that be amazing?)
- Frozen Love (yes, I really believe they'll play this one)
- I Don't Want To Know
- Sorcerer (SN & LB did that in 74/75)

one song, apart from 'Don't Stop', to explicitly honour Christine:

- Everywhere

additional prediction and speculation: songs I do NOT believe they will play:

- Big Love (at least not the solo version)
- Gypsy
- Hold Me
- Stand Back
- Twisted (I so wish they would do this one)

I don't know, I'm trying to have more faith in them than that. I mean, if they acknowledged that Unleashed was playing it safe then, to me, "deep cuts" would mean more than just the old two song switcheroo :) Crossing my fingers, legs, arms, eyes ;)

Oh my goodness, I had no idea where to put this, but thought this would be the best spot. It's an article about the Stones touring, but check out what they did recently:

"Yet all eyes were on Jagger, a cosmic blur of hips and ribs and lips, attacking each song with an unbelievably ruthless rocks-off energy, whether he was shimmying through "Honky Tonk Women" or strumming his guitar for "Dead Flowers," in its first appearance of the tour. (It was a fan selection, as voted via the band’s new smartphone app.)"

I know Bruce has picked out people's signs from the crowd, touting song requests, and has played them. Now I'd really love this for FM, but more realistically Lindsey :) Obviously, not the whole show, but man I think that would be fun.

Deep Cuts would most likely come from the first three albums.

white: Crystal is all that qualifies right?
rumours: I don't Want To know?
Tusk: Angel? SOTM? a buuunch of Lindsey. I would say any surprises would come from Tusk. And there won't be more than two, which means my setlist would still win the contest jajajaj.

Here's my guess....

1. The Chain
2. Dreams
3. Monday Morning
4. Miss Fantasy
5. Gypsy
6. Big Love (NON-acoustic version)
7. Second Hand News
8. Never Going Back Again
9. Landslide

11. Sad Angel
12. I'm So Afraid
13. Tusk
14. Silver Springs
15. Sara

18. Hold Me (Lindsey On Lead Vocals)
19. Stand Back
20. Go Your Own Way

21. World Turning
22. Don't Stop

23. Sisters Of The Moon

I have the feeling the closest we are going to get to Buckingham/Nicks material is going to be "Crystal"....

you know everybody here keeps talking about wanting deep cuts, but most of the lists have just hits they play all the time plus hits they played before. how is Sara a deep cut? or SW which was a single and had MTV video?

EDIT: of course, this is a prediction thread so... i guess we expect no deep cuts.

We are used to them promising more before tickets for a tour go on sale and then delivering more of the same ole same ole. I agree with TrueFaith77.IMHO they'll just use the excuse that the deep cuts didn't sound good in rehearsal. I hope I am wrong though.

Donny Osmond does a radio show in Vegas. This morning he mentioned Fleetwood Mac's 2013 tour and played a clip of Stevie's interview where she described writing a big list of songs on the board and picking and choosing from those. She says that what works in 2013 may be different from what worked in 2009 or 2003. After the clip, this was Donny's take-away: "So you never know what you're going to hear. Every show is different. That's really cool."

I'll set a cut-off date in a few weeks as we still have several albums and polls left; Lindsey/Stevie solo songs, Christine Mac songs, Say You Will songs, Post-Rumours songs, etc

My computer at home is not working and I'm off from my main job until Wednesday, so I won't be online again till then!

It's whacky to even consider that they would want to perform any Fleetwood Mac songs prior to them joining the band. The only exception to that would be "Oh Well." And I'm not really interested in hearing them perform any of Christine's songs. "Don't Stop" should be stopped!

Likely we'll get all the well-worn songs and just a few surprises. It sucks because I haven't seen them in concert since the Say You Will tour, and haven't seen Stevie since Trouble in Shangri-la. I want to see them in Boston, but I can't imagine paying hundreds of dollars for nose-bleed seats.

What's screwing with my head right now is that I my sister, who is a lightweight fan at best, just told me she bought tickets to the show for her and her boyfriend. WTF?

I wouldn't mind something like this:
1. Second Hand News
2. I Don’t Want to Know
3. Blue Letter
4. Gold Dust Woman
5. Tango in the Night
6. New Song
7. Dreams
8. Bleed to Love Her

17. Hold Me
18. Everybody Finds Out
19. Go Your Own Way
20. The Chain

My guess is they'll likely play something more boring, standard, and repeated like this:

4. Eyes of the World
5. Gypsy
6. New Song
7. Rhiannon

You know, I was thinking about that since Stevie confirmed that as the new BN recording. I just honestly think they would perform Frozen Love in the encore..thus saving Without You for a possible BN show/event.

I'm sure everyone would love both (or more) BN performed..but I can't see more than 1 making the setlist.

not everyone.

there are so many great Rumours-era FM songs written by either SN or LB they are not performing... especially from Tusk and SYW. and if you ask me there are much much better songs among those than BN songs.

they can have their separate BN tour for BN lovers. but they should play deep cuts of FM music on FM tour!

^^ actually better yet they should stop feeding us this stupid artificial "we'll do only 22-24 songs" crap and start doing more songs - 30 would be nice round number! - so everyone would be happy and we could get all kinds of songs we'd like to hear.

for the crapload of money they are charging (think not just regular price which is very expensive, but added to that platinum tickets which are also straight-up price that goes to the band, not scalpers) i don't really see why we are supposed to be happy with the number of songs being capped at 24. :distress:

Oh don't get me wrong! Tusk is probably my top album pick. I'm praying for more Tusk (and even SYW :D)

Again, maybe should have chosen a different word haha. Point is *if anything* I'm sure only one BN song will be performed! We can agree on that right?! And cross our fingers for Walk a Thin Line ;) I would be in heaven.

we can definitely agree on that one - you and me both! :)

see my other post though - we wouldn't even have this problem if they didn't come up with this stupid artificial cap of only 24 songs they want to perform.

Ugh I know. Where do they come up with all of these restrictions?! Songs that *must* be played, albums that *would not* be bought, 21-24 song max for show.

Let loose and change up things! No choreographed chemistry. No greatest hits setlist. PLEASE!!! :blob2:

i understand the need for greatest hits to be a part of the set, b/c if i go see someone i just marginally know i wanna hear the hits i know and love.

but they are saying there will be about 12 must-play songs of 24 all together, and when they start listing them or you look at the lists we have assembled in this thread, it's really like 80%-90% of setlist that's set in stone. so if that's the case, they need to do a longer setlist!

FierySequences
01-27-2013, 10:23 PM
I posted something similar to this in another thread...my take on the setlist:

of course we will have the 6-7 regulars from Stevie and SB

mb 2 each LB songs from FM, Rumours, Tusk including Eyes and BL

WT, Chain, DS

and IF they play the 2 new songs plus Without You...that's 22 songs and leaves little room for anything "new to stage/revisited".

We know the band pretty well and what they will play. Hey they may even through in Angel and another LB Tusk song for the first few shows, then drop them> If they kept them in and also played TITN or Sisters I would be totally shocked and very pleased:D

I am giving this much consideration as I think the 2009 setlist was redundant and needs to be switched out to a certain degree. I would like to see some Say You Will/Tango Songs see the light again in particular.

In NO particular order:

Big Love (Fast 1987 full band version)
Seven Wonders
Rhiannon
Never Going Back Again
Sara
Destiny Rules
Say You Will
What's The World Coming To
I Know I'm not wrong
Little Lies
The Ledge

Stand Back
Soldier's Angel
I'm So Afraid
Trouble

The Chain
You and I Part II (haronizing with Stevie instead of Christine)
Gypsy

This is probably very close to what we'll get:

1. The Chain
2. Dreams
3. The Ledge (or another of Lindsey's Tusk songs)
4. Miss Fantasy
5. Gypsy
6. Rhiannon
7. Sad Angel
8. Second Hand News
9. Angel
10. Without You
11. Sara
12. Big Love
13. I'm So Afraid
14. Landslide
15. Never Going Back Again
16. Gold Dust Woman
17. Tusk
18. Go Insane
19. Soldier's Angel
20. Frozen Love
21. Silver Springs
22. World Turning
23. Go Your Own Way
24. Don't Stop

And here's an idea....how about alternating 2-3 deep cuts from night to night? For instance, one night they could play "The Ledge"/"Seven Wonders." The next night "Walk a Thin Line"/"Angel." The next night "Can't Go Back"/"Sisters of the Moon." Etc., etc. And still keep those must do songs in the set each night. This way casual and diehard fans will be pleased.

yeah i'm pretty sure too... even though Ledge voted that people would like to hear You May Be The One over SA, at least last time i checked that poll. although it was close. personally i think i'd enjoy You May Be much more than SA in concert. but oh well.

btw, really happy for you Mike that you went for it and managed to get into that remax show!

EDIT: i locked the poll because of some off-topic between-fan fireworks. so the result stays YMBTO 16 votes, and SA 13 votes. http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=51387

I cut Sara, Sisters, although we would like to hear them...I think it's a long shot.
I also replaced Sad Angel for Without You, of the 3 songs, I doubt they'd do the two new LB's and not do WY.
Also, on the new songs, do we even know if they are duets? or is Stevie singing lead on one of them? So uncertain at this point.

(off topic: My last statement/Q's have me believing that the 2 songs are Stevies leads or duets. LB has about 7-8 more songs in the bag and now with CM in LA, what is she doing? Possibly recording 3-4 new songs ;))

Yeah this is the Ledge Prediction Setlist thread where we predict what songs they will perform. We had a bunch of polls over the past months narrowing down the songs. We now have 24 songs. I feel that's too many as FM usually only do around 20-22 songs. I've now asked Ledgies to pick two songs that they personally don't think the Mac will do.

Cutoff date for this contest is March 15th - next Friday.

I never really considered that an upbeat song, but I think they play it for the drum solo, not for its sound. They would substitute it out for another one where Mick could have a solo. When they last did NTF, World Turning wasn't there.

this guy dreads new songs for sure since he was happy to have "#CBJ trade flurry" to follow so doesn't have to listen to the song he doesn't know.

whether band introduced it as a "dreaded new song" to the people present at that soundcheck i don't know ;)

if band didn't introduce it as a new song i wouldn't believe this guy's info, because it is possible that he doesn't know BTLH or SOTM and thinks those are new songs...

This came off so "douchey" to me. I guess its just because I'm so excited to hear somethign new. I can understand a casual fans POV of not wanting to hear anything new.

However, when I go to a concert (especially a concert where I'm just a casual fan) I never dread hearing a new song. I always think of it as "who knows, maybe this new song will be my next favorite song."

That smitchcd guy is the hockey reporter for the Cbus paper, and from other tweets it sounds like the hockey reporters listened to sound check whilst waiting around for hockey transfer news. So, they were likely all bored and ansy waiting...oh how I wish that amongst them had been one knowledgeable FM fan!! I hate that they got to hear sound check...going out of mind knowing that the band members are HERE!

it definitely was a new song:

@smitchcd
@ellellew Nah. He made a big production out of introducing it as a new one, complete with simulated roaring crowd noise. It was kinda funny.

So we know that they at least have rehearsed one new song. I wonder which one Miss Fantasy or Sad Angel? Will it actually be played live?

LOL, if LB introduced it as "dreaded" he may have sarcastically said it to piss off Stevie, which I could actually see happening.

However, I don't know of this guy and prefer to think of him saying it.

Miss Fantasy ftw!

I get off work at 9:15 tonight, so I won't be available until then. I'm assuming somebody attending will do a "live" thread sort of thing. However if somebody could also maintain this thread and it's accuracy with the predictions until I get home from work, I would be most thankful.

I think at least one new song will get played. My guess would be two, definitely "Without You" and "Miss Fantasy." "Sad Angel" strikes me as a slow song, so maybe not that one.

I'm using the "Unleashed" tour set list as a starting point. I think they'll swap out the previous Tusk songs with different Tusk songs. So "Sara" and "IKINW" will be out, and "Sisters" and a different upbeat Lindsey Tusk song, "The Ledge" maybe :], will be in. If Christine miraculously joins them onstage, then they will do "Say You Love Me" together. They will definitely do "Don't Stop" and "World Turning" at the end of the show.

I did not attend the concert, but they have definitely not implied that!

I've read all the posts since yesterday and everything seems to be quite fine. ;)

The Ledge as a whole did good with the predictions. Not That Funny, Without You, and Say Goodbye being ones that were played but not predicted.

Frozen Love, Go Insane, Soldier's Angel, Miss Fantasy were predicted but not performed.

I'm most surprised about Soldier's Angel not being performed and Without You being performed. Also Go Insane being dropped was a shock, even though Stevie's solo song remained(Stand Back).

How did this compare to your personal predictions?

I am most surprised about Soldier's Angel since Stevie said a few times they would do it and also since it seemed a no-brainer with Lindsey being on the album version.

I would have liked to have seen them perform it together in person, but we have the one excellent video of the Wiltern performance and I love Without You. It's happy and fun and nostalgic.
