As I know the fiasco that people had with CL&P and UI between last years mess.I hope they are ready to go to work this time around.Lucky my town generates its own power and had power through out those storms last year.
I will end up watching the NYC TV channels instead of the locals.I can't stand the non stop graphics streaming across the screen with the same BS every 5 minutes.
Meantime Sandy is a week too early.
It looks like Atlantic City is on the hit list.I hope they are getting ready for it.

I don't know what you mean by this but I just went outside in the night air in a tee shirt. It is eerily calm out there with no wind and it's warm.

Hahahaha.I'm just being a wise a$$ with that snarky comment..I was speaking of Nov 6th.
Yeah, I am scared once again. I live about maybe 10 miles from the coast. Where I live I'm not so concerned about getting flooded out, but mostly the wind & tornadoes if any. We have a lot of trees around us. We made out OK during the last hurricane, but I'm really worried about this one. It's covering all of DE, & I have relatives in Northern DE, too, so I'm worried for them, too. I worry for our coast, too. Water is already over the roads in Dewey Beach; they've closed the road from Dewey Beach to Bethany Beach. :distress: I'm sure we will lose power. As the saying goes; prepare for the worst & hope for the best. This is all you can do. :distress:

Lee, I hope everyone stays safe. Please be as careful as possible! Maybe it won't be as bad as you think. Still, being prepared is the best thing. I'll be thinking of you.

Again Be safe and don't go out the travel in it.They already closed schools for tomorrow and Tuesday here.
Now all the TV stations are in the alert mode with the overcrowded screen graphics and some pre-empt programming to Sandy coverage. The media treats the public like they are stupid dumbf's like duh ,By now if somebody does not know about the hurricane is on the way and don't do anything about getting out of the way.
I guess they are covering their A$$ in the meantime.
Lee .Stay safe.
Thanks for the kind words. We made through last night with the high winds & the constant rain. Still have power right now, but the worst is yet to come. I couldn't sleep last night; shaking, not from the cold but fear. All the trees around us look to be intact. Water starting to accumulate in the street, backyard a little. No work for me or hubby. There is a state of emergency here in Delaware, Level II. Only essential personnel out on the roads; police, medical, etc. If you are out on the road here in DE & they catch you, you will get fined.
Praying my family & friends will stay safe, as well as me, hubby & my dog. I will be glad when this is all over. I hope I never see another storm like this ever again!

In a few hours the 60 MPH winds are expected here and supposed to continue til midnight. We could be without power for a while. I was thinking about you Lee. I know the storm is right on top of you now. Hoping all is well and that you stay safe and secure.

It's 7:53pm and the winds have completely stopped. We hardly had any rain. It turned out to be a whole lot of nothing but it was better to be safe than sorry. The hurricane has been downgraded to a tropical storm. It is super warm outside. You don't need a coat and you could wear shorts and a tee shirt and be totally comfortable.

In South Jersey here, it's pretty nasty out. The winds are knocking down a lot of trees and flipping things. Power's been off and on. Right now my road is the only one with power in our neighborhood and the surrounding ones. Atlantic City and the boardwalk is completely underwater. There's already been some fatalities in NYC and Susquehanna.
We're pretty safe where we're at. Hope everybody else is ok. Wishing y'all luck.

I had to shut down the computer so it wont get fried from the power surges.Everything is ok here.I lost power for about 10 minutes around 9pm last night.A tree fell on the lines a couple houses down the street.they fixed it quick.I just have minor damages here like the gutter helmet on the back gutter got lifted at the end. Some tree limbs on the lawn and a tree from the neighbors house fell partly in my yard which he was working on this morning.
I'm glad the rains held back. That would of made things worse with the trees uprooting.
I have not watched the continued tv coverage because they are getting carried away repeating the same stuff over again and again.
I know that it was going to be bad, but not bad where I live. Don't get me wrong, it was very windy & rainy, but all our trees are intact. The neighbor lady's tree, not so much. A smalll maple tree snapped @ the top & came down next to our driveway. Not harm done though. Our state, as far as I know, had no deaths due to Sandy. Rehoboth Beach did not get damaged. Dewey Beach flooded on the bay side. Lost the road to our new Indian River Inlet Bridge. http://www.deldot.gov/public.ejs?command=PublicCameraDisplay&county=3 If you can see this camera, it's the road to the left. My husband & I cross this bridge in the summer & go to the beach on the south side like every Saturday. I can't tell if the beach is still there or not or the inlet for that matter.
I feel really bad for the people in NY & NJ who had the worst of it. Our local weatherman kept saying the the front, right quadrant will get it the worst. We were very lucky. Never even lost power or cable but were somewhat prepared anyway. I really hope this is the last time the Northeast goes though this. And if anyone has heard if Wildwood Crest, NJ, survived this, please let me know. My husband & I spent a few days there this past summer. It has the most beautiful, widest beach that I've ever seen. I heard they got like 11 inches of rain.

I wouldn't have even known about it if it weren't for you. Fifteen minutes after you posted it is when I read it and immediately turned it on. Thanks to you I witnessed fabulous performances by Aerosmith, Sting and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Skip, I just wanted to thank you, my friend. You have really done a lot for me this year and I want you to know how much I really appreciate you.
