I could honestly see this being their farewell tour since they don't seem to be supporting anything yet again. If so, I think Michelle hit the nail on the head with That's All For Everyone. But knowing them they, will probably call it something like the Go Your Own Way Tour because Fleetwood Mac is still going their own way and not letting the drama within the band, their age, or the faltering music business stop them!

See, I just don't care if they are simply doing it for the money. As long as they put on an awesome show and look like they're having a good time, what's the harm? Would I like some new music, of course, but would anyone really just sit there bored at a FM concert, even if they only played the hits? It isn't like they tour every year - I'm still excited for the tour next year, and if they can do one more after that I will surely go!:blob2:

exactly. greatest hits FM tour is not really for diehards like people here anyway. diehards alone don't fill arenas. casual fans do, who want to see a legendary band before they hang it up. so if they can fill arenas and make a lot of money, why begrudge them that.
that said, it would be really nice for the band to throw diehards a few bones and give us some of those songs we were all listing here.

(Nice one, BTW, Tango! :D )
For the record, I don't think there's any "harm" in touring with hits, whatever, but it's surely a lame way to go for a band that has one of the best-selling albums of all time. It looks like a bunch of veteran musicians on the way out making money and saying farewell, when (in my opinion) in reality SN and LB are making some of the best post-Rumours and Tusk music they've ever made. Basically by doing a hits tour, they're negating that and putting the emphasis on careers that are behind them, and to make (more) money when they're already rich beyond what they can spend in their lifetimes. Just seems really futile.. Especially when LB talks so much about being creative. I'm hoping this will be different than the cynicism bandied around here, I really hope there's new stuff and BN stuff and we have a different tour than Unleashed '09. But we shall see..

I agree, I don't begrudge them playing the songs that made them famous to begin with, but when they both have so much left to give you feel they're wasting their talent... Look at Bob Dylan! He just came out with a new album this year! Madness. Now, if FM can't get their act together and come out with new songs or a fresh set list then something is seriously wrong with the world

yeah but so did LB and SN last year.
and Dylan is one of the crappiest live performers out there from both when i've seen him and all the reviews i read. people can usually barely even recognize which song he's playing these days ;). so as far as setllists and live performing, Bob Dylan is not the best example, imho. :p

Haha no, I sadly agree with you, but just the fact that he can should be testament enough. We know they would sound a million times better, whatever they came out with - I know it was only last year for LB and SN solo albums, but I say keep going! ;) Stevie, dig out those stored cassettes, and Linds break out your favorite guitar

Haha... I love that. That would be perfect. It's funny because after EVERY tour... Stevie or one of the band members states "I don't think we'll ever do this again." Even if they did record a few new songs, or even an album, I don't think many of them would end up in the set list. At the most, we'd be lucky to get two new songs in the set. It sadly wouldn't radically alter the over-familiar show they have been doing.
But then again, some fans surprisingly want to keep the show frozen and set in stone, hence comments about how the group "have to" perform certain songs, and in a certain order, otherwise it isn't worth the cost. I don't understand that mentality at all. Granted, a significant portion of Fleetwood Mac's audience may only be familiar with the hits and famous songs.
However, at this advanced, albeit waning stage I wish the band would not care as much about that. I'd hope they would be inspired to use this opportunity to take stock in much of their overlooked material (deep album tracks, songs not performed in decades, b-sides, Buckingham Nicks songs, etc...) and give us a refreshed, revitalized show. As artists, why would they not want explore and challenge themselves to go beyond the stale norm? Is it because they are getting old and profit now trumps all else? It's like a painter painting only the same image over and over just because it's a safe and easy guarantee.

Since 1979 FM has always had huge ticket prices. It's hard to believe in this day and age though, that $15.50 would be paid for the best seats in the venue like they were on that tour. In 1979 the average ticket price was $7.50 and the FM price felt ridiculous and out of reach for the average joe.

[QUOTE=vivfox;1068967]Earlier today on FB, I accused the other Viv of manufacturing this promo pic. I told her Stevie's name should be first. Then we had a boxing match to determine a winner and the other Viv won. As the day went on, the more I thought about it I thought it should begin with FLEETWOOD and end with MAC.
MICK FLEETWOOD STEVIE NICKS LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM JOHN McVIE
Seems appropriate.[/QUOTE

I was reading where Stevie suggested that Say You Will be called Infatuation.
I would be up for the next album -- if not the tour -- to be called that. I think with this reunion finally coming it's like they just couldn't remain apart anymore. Destiny, inevitability and I think there's infatuation too.

The tour should be called "On With The Soap Opera"

Funny, I've been thinking the same thing. I like the name - in fact, my playlist of Stevie's songs from SYW is called just that.
