Why can't they just use one website? Most artists have their own page and when they have something new to promote they change the layout, add an intro, and make it all themed about that thing. The Nicks Fix has had the same damn layout for way too long now. I love what Warner Brothers did with http://stevienicks.warnerreprise.com/ but since that isn't her "official" site, it seems impossible to find. Why not have the people who designed that site just do something like that to rockalittle.com? And now they are going to make ANOTHER site just for the movie? It works I suppose, but I just think centralizing it and using one main site would work best. StevieNicks.com anyone? Anywho, there is actually a http://inyourdreamsmovie.com/ but it is just the Stevie Nicks section on Dave's page. I am sure they will update it soon, but who knows with them.

Well I realize lots of people still haven't seen the documentary, but what really makes it a letdown is the timing. The real question is, why didn't this website go up sooner? Doesn't a website for a movie fulfill 99% of its purpose BEFORE the movie is released?
It's hard to tantalize us when the content of the documentary has been discussed ad nauseum, Stevie has done 3 Q&A's which have been uploaed and shared, and they still need to keep a few surprises for the eventual DVD.

I'm wondering what extras will come with the DVD. I know someone said there wasn't much live footage in the actual documentary, so I'm wondering if they will include a whole live show. Since Stevie really LOVES this album, she should have done an exclusive show where she performed the album in its entirety and released it on DVD and CD either with the documentary, as a deluxe edition of IYD, or stand alone. They could have done that before this years tour to give us something until they finished the doc! But who knows, more live stuff may come with the official release. As for the site itself, I am hoping either a whole slew of screening dates will be announced on it, or at least DVD presale packages will be offered (At least give us a signed IYD movie poster!). If this is all the site ends up being tho, I will be pretty irked.

Me too!! I'm just wondering if they actually filmed full videos for each song, or just parts. Of course I am sure there is footage of some kind of video for every song in it's entirety, but whether or not that footage is enough to turn into a full music video is another question.

I'm pretty confident once you see the film it will re-energize your feelings about "In Your Dreams". I was lucky to get the opportunity to attend 2 screenings of the film on the East Coast & it made me fall deeper in love with this record! If you're a fan of this record at all, you will gorge on this film. It was worth the wait! Not to mention it's unlike anything Stevie has ever given to her fans!! And we have Dave to thank for that.
It's wonderful that Dave portends potentially 60 cinema screenings. I'm sure Stevie and/or Dave will only attend a few of those, but that means it will probably play at art cinemas in major city's over a weekend at best over the next few months, then onto cable and/or DVD. This is great news. NO, it's not going to be a landslide of new album sales, but you get to see another side of Stevie, a more intimate & creative side, that we've never been privi'ed to before. Again, I saw it twice, and I cannot wait to see it again & again on the big screen and then eventually on cable and DVD.
There may eventually be another Stevie solo album, but there will never be another In Your Dreams.

I agree with you , this should have come out right around the beginning of the 1st leg of the tour. By now she should have had a new cd out or ready to be released especially if she was riding high on this and feeling good about her solo career. and Working with Dave was a great idea she needs to surround her self with people who are creative and motivate her

If the January release of this even really happens....
18 months after the release of her brilliant album, Stevie Nicks announces the commercial release of all the major promotional material related to it!
18 months after anyone knew the record even existed.
Enjoy!
Wait. What album? What year?
Who cares?
EPIC timing fail.
Just put it in a vault and release it in 20 years.
Everyone who works on her promotional and marketing team should be fired.
This footage was in the can before the record was out. It should have been edited and put in release form in 6 weeks max and put out with the album. Lazy and irresponsible. Unprofessional. Pointless from a marketing perspective. The album is now a commercial artifact, and the film in cultural terms is ancient history.
I work in television and we crank out carefully edited and artfully planned 1-2 hour shows every single week. It isn't cancer treatment. It isn't easy, but it is a science and an art and we do it every week all year long. There is no excuse for this. It is stupid and careless from every angle imaginable.
I have followed her career since 1975 and this takes the cake for the most effort ever expended for the tiniest and most paltry payback. It could have been an event if it was done in conjunction with a record release.
Now it is footnote, and a "whatever", to all but the diehards.
A whimper.
A triumphant record followed by a whimper 18 months later.
Shameful and laughable timing. Doesn't even matter if it is good at this point.

...or, alternatively, we could have waited until 2012 for the release of IYD the album. Sure, if Stevie had a network television budget, she could have cranked out a documentary in a couple of months to coincide with IYD's release. But we're talking about a recording an album AND making a film on basically a shoestring. The documentary was nevery anybody's full-time priority, and thank goodness for that! Perhaps she would have invested in using a real film production crew (rather than the odd assortment of Dave's friends/relatives known as Weapons of Mass Entertainment) if there was a even a remotely realistic possibility of an actual return on investment on the whole venture. As it is, I think we should consider ourselves lucky that they decided to forge ahead and complete/release IYD the movie despite the fact that IYD the album was DoA commercially a year-and-a-half earlier.
I've seen it a few times and I always find new details/nuances each time. It's not a great documentary, and I am not sure if it would have inspired many new converts even if it was released when the album came out. Indeed, there is no "beginning... a middle and an end..." But it is a fascinating glimpse into Stevie's creative process and her endearing but acerbic off-stage personality. Above anything else, I was surprised by the level of Stevie's commitment and energy when working in the studio! In addition to singing into a mic, she walks around the studio, gesticulating wildly while getting across a musical idea or banging on objects to get her point across. One gets the sense that Stevie is really the producer and Dave just gives her some ideas here and there.

^Interesting. I've always thought Stevie had some producing in her blood. Even as far back as Walter Egan where she was co-credited with Lindsey as producer, something I thought was s bit of a joke initially, but whenever Walter or others have mentioned her in that role, it's always been in such a professional tone that it must be accurate.
As for the low budget delaying the release if the IYD doc, that seems to be the opposite result of production these days. I mean any average Joe with a camera and software package could film and release a project in just a few days really. I think the hold up is actually -- gasp -- Stevie!! She even makes the comment in Dave's film how he flitted off to Nashville to record an album (actually 2!) in a week and she's stretching hers out for "a year" (plus the 2 week window she had from WB of actual studio time).
Yeah, me thinks its not just Lindsey who drags things out in the studio... old habits die hard. And, she used this past year to edit, edit, edit the crap out of this film.

Sure, anyone with an Airbook could whip together a film in a couple of weeks. A very bad one. Although IYD is not the greatest documentary concept ever, you could tell that a lot of thought, consideration and care went into its production- the use of archival photographs, the selection of interstitial music, the selection of scenes, etc. One must also keep in mind that they had to pore through probably hundreds of hours of footage to select the most salient scenes and they likely had numerous technical issues in terms of erratic sound quality, video quality, lighting, etc. Given the fact that they intended on making a documentary from the get-go, you would think they would have properly lit/miked every room of her house. Instead, much of the footage is grainy and some of the audio is so muffled or so low that subtitles are needed. Again, with a bigger budget, a full-time crew and a full-time director, this would have been cobbled together fairly quickly. But the movie was co-directed by Stevie and Dave- two people with extraordinarily busy full time jobs.

In regards to "timing" the film closer to the release of In Your Dreams and it being regarded as a promotional failure, those arguments seemingly appear logical, but in stark retrospect that theory is inherently flawed. Moreover there is little evidence to support the notion that releasing the doc earlier would have increased IYD momentum, it's all a matter of opinion. What does seem apparent is that this documentary was filmed as more of a pet project of Stevie & Daves and not directly attributable to Warner/Reprises overall marketing of In Your Dreams to begin with. And was ultimately finished as an afterthought, a footnote to the actual record. The record was always the main event and because of the doc they were able to cull 3-4 videos in the meantime for fans and promotional purposes within the critical IYD release period -- which btw is more video's than any other Stevie solo album in history!
There is also the consideration and fact that sooo much footage was filmed, the daunting task of editing to 3 hours took all the way till late winter of 2012, most likely due to the fact that this was a side project on a tight budget, among other technical challenges. I also believe seeing how Stevie is a bit of a control freak about her image on film, she literally had very little time in 2011 to make the documentary her focus being that she began her IYD promotional blitz February 2011 beginning really with Sunset Sessions, then onto a blitz of several radio and TV interviews that propped up across the country, The Heart & Soul Tour, Then IYD release, onto the UK promotional blitz, more TV interviews and appearances, IYD official tour in the U.S. Aug through Oct., then onto Australia and New Zealand in November. I also believe the unexpected death of Stevie mom passing late last December stalled the project in some small way.
Stevie said at one of the Q&A's that a lot of the final editing of whittling the doc from 3 hours to a more reasonable @90 minutes was done while on the road in 2012 by her assistant Karen and Stevie herself (and that Dave Grohl gave her some firm motivation to get this film finished and out) explaining Dave Grohls special acknowledgment during the credits. So in the end everything happens for a reason and in it's due time. The sheer fact that we have this film at all is a testament to Dave & Stevie's persistence and dedication. Yes, this film is geared towards Stevie's loyal fans and especially fans of this record and perhaps the few casual curious will watch as well. But what a thrill to watch this very special year in Stevie's life and really get to see, not just hear, how much fun she really had! How alive and creative Dave makes her appear in stark contrast to the Destiny Rules documentary. And all the while this film WILL reawaken your love of this record all over again!
If it plays in your local cinema, take a friend who may not be a big or casual fan, I wouldn't be surprised if they convert or at the very least become more interested and leave having more respect for Stevie as an artist and human being. It is fascinating to see Stevie persuasively articulate her musical vision of a song in her head to the musicians, have strong unbending opinions and ultimately shape her songs to full fruition. For me it was akin to watching Michael Jackson's film "This Is It", who like Stevie did not read or write musical notation, communicate somewhat crudely, but decisively how he wanted tempos, arrangements conveying ultimately how he heard the song in his head and sculpting the final product. Two very different artists, not that different at all.
I loved this film. I was very happy with it. I also believe anyone who loved In Your Dreams will love the this film. It may not perfect, but it's pretty great :D! Much better and artistically visual than Destiny Rules by a mile!

The website hasn't been updated, and Stevie herself said it's now "time for Fleetwood Mac". This documentary was screened 2.5 times (the .5 being at Sunset Sessions). At this point, I can't see a DVD/Bluray coming either. What a disappointment.

Actually the doc screened 3.5 times (Hamptons, Jacob Burns, Mill Valley, & Sunset Session in Vegas) But that's besides the point. Heck, I saw the doc twice and I'm also annoyed that nothing more concrete has been announced for its release to fans on a bigger scale (cable or DVD release). It's a wonderful & unique addition to Stevie's body of work.
Whatever happened to Dave's assertion of IYD's doc playing in 50-60 theaters over a month ago? We should all tweet Dave and suggest they release the doc exclusively through Itunes or something, unless they are planning to do something in January -through early Feb.2013 before FM begins rehearsals. The IYD doc's fate is truly is a head scratcher:confused:
