Some I did heard of some I did not.For some reason I don't remember The Meters.

Deep Purple,Rush,Heart,Procol Harum,Rush,Joan Jett,The Marvelettes
and Albert King should be in a long time ago.

I love Donna Summer and miss her but she's pop and disco.

Chic is pop tunes.

I dont understand how Randy Newman got on the list.

I never heard of or not familiar with Butterfield Blues Band,Kraftwerk.

No comment with NWA and Public Enemy.

Joan Jett does not deserve a place in the R&R Hall of Fame. She had like 2 hits in her entire career and never even went platinum. Randy Newman was known as a great songwriter(not by me) by the industry. Chic had 2 hits. NWA might be deserving because they spawned several artists to go solo and be successful. Out of NWA came Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and one more I can't think of now. I get no satisfaction from Public Enemy. I'm unfamiliar with Albert King and I've never heard of The Meters.

But...
Where are SUPERTRAMP, ELO, Dire Straits, Kiss, Foreigner, Yes and many others??????
:(:(:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Deep Purple, Heart and Rush MUST BE there!!
And I repeat, Bob Welch should have been there since 1998, with the rest of the band.

Things I still don't understand...

Though this is the greatest news I've heard in a long time, and I hate to be negative but I'm sure many of us would agree that it shouln't have had to come to this for this to happen but I'll take it to right a wrong. :)

.

Randy Newman is one of the most prolific songwriters in music history.

The Meters weren't widely known, but they were incredibly influential on people like Dr John, Robert Palmer, Lee Dorsey, etc. That funky New Orleans sound. Their leader is/was Art Neville who later formed the band with his brothers...called, obviously, the Neville Brothers.

The Butterfield Blues Band was to the USA what John Mayall was to the UK. One of the top influential blues bands led mainly by white musicians. The original lineup had two incredible guitarists, Mike Bloomfield (dubbed USA's Eric Clapton) & Elvin Bishop. Later incarnations also included saxophonist David Sanborn.

Kraftwerk was one of the pioneers of electronic music....and pretty much single-bandedly (yes, I said "BANDedly") "invented" what we know today as "techno" & "trance" music...as far back as the early '70s.

I don't think you can induct Procol Harum on the weight of "Whiter Shade Of Pale" alone....yes, they had a LONG career, but longevity alone doesn't mean you're HoF worthy. I love them & have almost every album of theirs up to about 1980, but they don't deserve to be in, I don't think.

Joan Jett? She's in as a Runaway, right? That's enough. Other than "I Love Rock & Roll", her solo career hasn't been all that HoF worthy.

Thanks for clearing this up.Now I understand who they are.

I'm unfamiliar with Albert King.

One of the most influential blues guitarists of all time. One of the "Three Kings" (along with BB King & Freddie King).

Should be in HoF just for being Stevie Ray Vaughan's idol. But, also influenced almost every blues guitarist who came after him.
