I was able to find more info. Looks like she's screening it at this festival on Oct. 12, at 6:30 pm. It's listed as 99 minutes long.

I would have tried to go to this, even though it'd be a 9 hour drive for me, but I'm leaving for Arkansas THAT DAY (figures, right?).
Hopefully she'll schedule more screenings, in the SoCal area preferably for me. I mean, after all, she did skip us entirely this last time around.
I hope someone here gets to attend this. I've been to a couple Q and A's before with Stevie and they were AMAZING! Don't pass this up if you have the chance!!

I hope so, too! I wonder if the documentary will make the film festival circuit this Fall? I know we have a film festival here in Austin at the end of next month. If the documentary is shown at a few festivals successfully, it could certainly lead to the it's limited release in small, independent theaters. That would be very exciting.

STEVIE NICKS Brings her In Your Dreams Documentary To Mill Valley Film Festival
Exciting news!! Stevie Nicks will be screening her In Your Dreams Documentary on the making of her album In Your Dreams at the Mill Valley Film Festival which takes place between October 4th to 14th at the CinéArts at Sequoia and 142 Throckmorton Theatre (Mill Valley) and at the Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center (San Rafael).
Stevie's screening takes place on October 12th at 6:30pm. Stevie will be on hand after the screening to answer questions.
In Your Dreams: Stevie Nicks
FOCUS: ROCK’N’SOUL • SPECIAL PREMIERE Decadent rock star, ’70s survivor, gypsy songbird, cape-clad dervish, white-winged dove—the inimitable Stevie Nicks has entranced millions of fans worldwide with her poetic lyrics, sultry singing and featherand-lace style. Having remained a powerful pop force for more than four decades, in 2010 Nicks embarked on the recording of a new solo album, In Your Dreams, produced by former Eurythmics mastermind Dave Stewart. With cameras in tow, documentarian Stewart and diva Nicks set up shop in her home studio and reveal their collaborative creative process, as snippets of words and music undergo inspired tinkering and emerge as fully fledged gems. Throughout, Nicks shares intimate memories of childhood and her high-flying days with Fleetwood Mac, reflects on Hurricane Katrina in a particularly moving song and insists on just the right guitar solo even as Stewart and album co-producer Glen Ballard challenge her choices. Shifting dynamically among video formats, painstaking recording sessions and revealing interviews, this magic-tinged musical journey is a loving and tuneful portrait of the eternally bewitching Gold Dust Woman.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Sunday, September 16, 2011, at 10:00 am.

FYI, "regular screenings" are $15, so, if nothing else, based on the price alone, there is reason to suspect that this is something special.

By the look of it (and I only have the ticket cost as reference) I am assuming she won't be there day two. Still for those unable to get tix the 1st day , it's awsome they added another viewing. And tho I will be well into my work day back in Portland, I still felt compelled to buy a ticket for day two. Maybe something amazing will happen and I won't have to be to work Saturday after all. And the airport will have zero problem transferrng my tickets to another day...and winged unicorns will fly out of my ass.

Stevie was adorable and I felt very candid and honest.I could hear the ache in her voice when she was describing her feelings about the loss of her mother and how her mother had been her life and she had no children or husband and now all she had was her music and actually said " I'm lonely sometimes"She mentioned again how she felt she had a visitation of her mother's spirit guiding her after the Mariah/Nikki flap. She also stated that she will probably never make another Fleetwood Mac album because it will take a total of 3 years and at 64 I don't have that kind of time.I need to condense my projects. She also joked about dropping dead at any time.In seriousness she did say that after her mother passed she had the same kind of pneumonia for 2 months earlier this year. One amusing part was that a couple of guys had a script for the Rhiannon movie that they had been trying to get to her and asked her if she would accept . She said "sure"He began to walk toward the stage with the script when the moderator said no no not now! I have a feeling this poor guy never got her the script. In all it was a great night and seeing Stevie so real and genuine has kind of renewed my fandom.I really love this woman.

On a more positive note she did mention that she had just given Dave another new song called "My Mother's Rings" so it does look good for her solo work. When I was releaving myself in the restroom Dave was doing the same at the urinal next to me but it didn't seem like an opportune moment to ask about a new Stevie album.

Aww don't get too upset! This is Stevie Nicks who said this. The same woman who was releasing a book in 1986. The same woman who would never do anything with Fleetwood Mac again. Hearing that makes me incredibly sad. I don't like such talk about dropping dead, even in jest. Call it denial, but she is the woman who said, "If you can't rock you're old!" (Or something like that ) Were there any other lighthearted moments?

It's kinda sad that she thinks recording with FM is a waste of her time but she'll end up spacing out her own new albums over the next several years. I have to accept the fact that she prefers being a solo artist who can work at her own pace and that she simply doesn't enjoy the Fleetwood Mac compromises she is always making. I don't understand why she doesn't want to record with Lindsey and Mick and John and perform on those fabulous world tours playing in the big arenas of the world.

I think given the choice of butting-heads with someone for 18 months, or spending a year having fun while working with a friend, we'd all choose the latter. Life's too short to waste it on strife and frustration. I don't blame Stevie one bit.

As a fan, I have to admit that I would probably prefer more solo albums of the caliber of IYD vs another FM album in the vein of SYW. Yes, we would all love to see an FM album with Lindsey and Strvie working from the ground up. But it aint gonna happen. Ever. They can't even stand to be in the studio together as it is now. They would have stomach ulcers and lacerations if thy actually had to compose together.
Somehow, given Stevie's palpable apathy about doing another fleetwood Mac oldies tour, I'm just not as excited this time around. Last time around, oldies were all we could expect since Stevie had pretty much stopped recording by that point. But now that we know what each of them are still capable of producing, it seems sad for me to see them locked in the timeback machine.

They would have stomach ulcers and lacerations if thy actually had to compose .
Hmmm... she said just the exact opposite (surprise!) in the Hamptons - that the experience she & Lindsey had with Dave made them both have a "moment of clarity" where they realized they COULD be in a studio or a house together and not fight...

Yeah, I get the sense she was guilted into it this time around -- which is never a great reason for touring. Hopefully she'll at least write some amazing songs to take back to her solo career when the tour's over.
She's found a partner that inspires her, energizes her, encourages her to take risks, and doesn't try to change who she is. I want to see her continue to pursue that and not waste time on less-fulfilling endeavors.

I love Stevie's solo work, don't get me wrong. But I'll always love her Fleetwood Mac contributions (and Lindsey's FM contributions, for that matter) more.
I've listened to IYD on constant rotation since it came out, and I'm still listening to it. I adore the record. But I'd much rather see what FM could do together one last time than have another solo record at this point. I think FM have the potential to end their recording carreer on a higher point than SYW if they made something new.
That said, I'll take what I can get, I suppose. Ultimately, I'm just grateful she still plans on recording, period. I'm happy for new music in general from her. And I guess if she's happier doing solo work, then more power to her. Life's too short to be unhappy.

For a song. But I doubt that harmony would last throughout the recording of an entire album.

This!
Any sliver of hope I had of another FM album or EP went out the window after Stevie's Q&A in the Hamptons & Pleasantville. That and the fact that she went out full throttle to include the infamous "You wouldn't say that to Bob Dylan" ("Thrown Down" Lindsey & Stevie exchange) from the SYW doc and unsubtly inserted it into her IYD doc as clear reference of the eternal damnation Lindsey apparently inflicted upon Stevie in contrast to the bliss & camaraderie she experienced with Dave. Her perception could not be more clear. I believe Stevie (at her ripe old age) plain & simply has made a conscious decision to not put herself in the middle of that burning fire again, especially after the "best year of her life".

Yep, that is pretty much what she said  But in "the real world" as she put it :thumbsup:making a album is time consuming & the age factor etc. she has a valid point/reason...
Yes, totally understandable! But, for the Mac fan part of me, it is sad to hear that that chapter is over, or coming to an end. For the Stevie solo fan in me, she has many things that she wants to do, and I'm just so happy that she still has the stamina to even be doing what she has been doing all these years. It's all good, always was, always will be.

I totally agree with you. Stevie didn't look thrilled or excited in the least when explaining her upcoming tour with the Mac for whatever reason. So when I read about her comments from yesterday, it wasn't a complete shock. It had just kind of confirmed it for me.

Yeah, I think it's becoming really apparent that Lindsey and Mick are toxic to Stevie, and that it's taken working with Dave to show her that in a way that even she can't delude herself about.
Lindsey is still prone to treating her like she's a step he has to complete on the way to some sort of self-redemption, and to Mick she's primarily a meal ticket. His public ridicule of her promotion of IYD earlier this year was shameful and not worthy of an old friend. He has never properly retracted it either.
I do think it's obvious that Stevie's off-kilter just now, though, and it's possible that the key word in what she said was 'probably'. In fact, the whole statement could be received as a massive 'persuade me' to Lindsey - not in the usual games-playing way, but in an honest, emotionally exhausted, way.
It's interesting to note, in fact, the differences between Stevie pre- and post- the Nicki Minaj debacle. Like maybe she realised it was costing her too much to do the petty politics of FM in the midst of her honest pride and excitement about IYD - so she's dropped it, and 'probably not another FM album if it's anything like it usually is' would be about right for how she feels right now?
Personally, I'm ambivalent about her working with Lindsey again. Might be better if Stevie did finally put him behind her.

I agree with much of your post, except for this. Mick is one of the founding members of Fleetwood Mac. Without Fleetwood Mac, Stevie would not be the multimillionaire rock legend she is now. She owes a debt of gratitude to Fleetwood Mac in my opinion. Fleetwood Mac is and has always been Mick's life. Stevie has held the band prisoner for the past decade. Especially since Mick is going through a divorce, he could really use Fleetwood Mac right now. Not just to help his bottom line, but for the fellowship & distraction. Mick, John, and Lindsey all depend on Fleetwood Mac for their incomes. None of them make any money on their side projects.
To say that I disagree with Stevie on this issue is an understatement. If she doesn't like the way the whole Say You Will project turned out, she should use her weight to lay out her own terms for working with the band. For instance, if she wanted an outside producer, she could demand that. If she wanted to record at her house, she could stipulate that. She can have any demands she wants drawn up by her legal team, and put into a contract. I keep holding out hope that she will indeed decide she wants to come full circle with the Mac & record a final album with the band. In my mind, I hope she is not comfortable ending Fleetwood Mac's story with the Say You Will album.
Like others have said, Stevie's & Lindsey's solo albums from this past decade have all been fantastic. I just want to hear where Fleetwood Mac is these days. Surely they have all evolved as artists since Say You Will, and surely there is still great music to be made within Fleetwood Mac.

Regardless of how long they had been "working on" a Fleetwood Mac album, Stevie was only in the studio for six months. After that they did do a long ass tour, but even if it took three years to record SYW or if it took a year and then she spent two years touring, it doesn't mean they have to do the same thing for the next album. Stevie and Lindsey have enough songs written to where they could both take ten tracks into the studio and pick eight favorites from each, record them all and then drop the four worst and BAM full album. Also with SYW, they were still cutting reels and ****. In the digital age, Fleetwood Mac could go into the studio and record a stellar album in a few months. Technically, they could record a whole album in a week if they wanted to, but we all know that won't happen. However, I do see Stevie's point. Fleetwood Mac is highly political and with them all having different managers and lawyers it adds in a bunch of middle men who muddle the process. Fleetwood Mac also isn't a very loving atmosphere for Stevie, so I think at her age she would rather record and tour and have all control of what happens rather than being another cog in the Fleetwood Mac machine. She could probably get her way in FM, but I think she is done having those arguments to get her way. I think they all need to just rent a house in England next fall and get Chris on board and make one more bad ass FM album and do a farewell tour (they can tour without Chris if she doesn't want to tour!).

Sorry, Louie, but I have to disagree. Fleetwood Mac made her rich and famous, but she's paid her dues to them many times over. They're all grown men and Stevie shouldn't be treated like their sole meal-ticket.
If she doesn't like the way the whole Say You Will project turned out, she should use her weight to lay out her own terms for working with the band.
Ooh, boy, I can just imagine how well the above scenario would go over -- both with Lindsey and with fans.
Meanwhile, I find the current situation interesting and ironic. Sometime around 2006/2007, we were all discussing Lindsey putting off working with Fleetwood Mac. How his solo career was understandably more fulfilling & enticing for him, than another go 'round of band politics and drama with Stevie.
Perhaps it's only my perception, but it seems fans were more accepting of his desires then, than her desires now. Maybe that had something to do with the fact that, at that time, it hadn't been so long since Fleetwood Mac had released new material? It's an interesting contrast either way.

Yes, I see you're right on the guys' time line. Looking at the interviews, Stevie said that she gave Lindsey the demos in July 2001. Then, on New Year's Eve 2001 she listened to the work he had done on them. Then, she said she knows they had been waiting for her for 6 months, but she felt that the album needed some new songs and that's when she wrote 4 fresh ones.

Wow. 3 years recording a record.I love to see FM recording new tunes.I had a feeling that Stevie was not really into making another FM record.I can't blame her about the stress in recording studio with the bickering going on.
I don't see no since why FM or any other bands got to draaaaaaag out these recording sessions so long.
Other artists spend probably a month or two in the studio and have a couple number one hits from the recording and clean house on the awards shows.
Also radio sucks with older artists. We found that out with IYD .They wont play new FM tunes.
As I was watching the IYD docu. The recording went smooth with a little or no problems and Stevie had fun doing it.Thats the way it should be.
I would love to see Dave and the same IYD team tackle a FM recording.
I have a bad feeling this upcoming tour will be their last.I hope I'm very wrong about this.

I think the main reason they won't record another record again is painfully obvious.
It wouldn't make any money.
Let's think about this. In 1980, Michael Jackson was getting the highest royalty rate in the history of music. Depending on what you read, it was 37% of wholesale album profit. Probably unheard of before or since. If you think about 1980 - that was maybe 1.50 a record. Maybe. More like 1.oo. Albums were about 5.99 in those days. Maybe 6.99. I am rounding up in a big way as I clearly remember paying 3.99 for many albums around those days. But let's be generous. Let's say that FM has an outrageous royalty rate leftover from their heyday. Say, 25%. Of wholesale.
Keep in mind Tom Petty's huge fight with MCA in 1981 - over the "superstar" list price of his record being 9.98 instead of 8.98. Regardless, that record was 5.99 everywhere. I got Bella Donna for 5.99. Still has the sticker on it. So wholesale was probably 3.99. Even at 25% that is 1.25 a record.
Consider SYW. If you can. List price was what? 15.99? I think I paid 11.99. That puts whole sale at 9.99. Tops. More like 8.99. If they have that crazy 25% rate they make 2.25 record. It sold what 800,00 copies? Okay. Let's say that. That equals 1,798,000 dollars. Minus 10 months in the Bel Air house at 25k a month. That's about 1.5 left. Producer fee? 200 easy. 1.3 mil left. Mixing and mastering? 100k. Now we are at 1.2. Fees for musician time? Another 100. Misc catering and assistants? 200 easy. Now it is 900k. Packaging deduction? About 20%. We are at 720k. Publicity? 250 easy. Now it is 470k. Photography and makeup and photoshoot foolery? 100k. That leaves 370k. Split 4 ways? Maybe 90 a piece. Minus taxes? 60k a piece. And I left out lawyers. And promo copies which are about 10% of total sales. If they broke even on SYW I will eat my drawers.
And IYD? She lost a mint. It sold what, 75k? Maybe? Do the math. That video shoot alone was 1o0k if it was a dime.
Even if a new FM record sold 500k, and that is a dream, they'd be a million in the hole.
No new record. No way, no how.
The tour will make 25-40 million. Minus 40% overhead. At the top end Stevie would clear about 9 , Lindsey 7, Mick and John maybe 4 million a piece. The math is where it is at folks. Follow the money.

Not that you are wrong, but the idea that Fleetwood Mac has to spend $1.4 million to make an album is insane. Now we know they love the fancier side of life, but they could dramatically cut costs if they wanted to make another album.
250k saved by not renting a house.
200k saved by producing their own album. (Stevie wouldn't want THAT to happen tho, but they could still hire a cheaper producer)
100k saved by not paying "musician time." I'm assuming that means paying other people to come in and play certain instruments, such as Sheryl Crow, but hell, who needs them? Fleetwood Mac is a band! Play your own damn instruments!
They could reduce the costs of all of those items immensely if they felt they were not going to sell a bunch of copies of the album. They could also ditch their record label. If WB isn't financing anything, then why the hell do they get 75% of the wholesale value?! Of course an album won't generate $25 million in sales, much less $40 million, so touring is always more lucrative. However, it does not mean that they cannot make a profit with a new album, and a new album always leads to a tour. I don't know how much money Stevie made or lost on IYD, but I guarantee you she sold some extra tickets and was able to book her own headlining tour because of that album. Without IYD, Stevie would have been relegated to only casino shows and Heart and Soul.

ah... guess i should re-focus and realize i'm in the SN forum
yes, the guys were in the studio since either 2000 or 2001. Stevie wasn't.
Stevie announced in the summer of 2001, during her TISL tour, that Mick and Lindsey had just rented a house to begin recording in for FM and she would be joining them when her tour was over.

I was thinking about how much money that the record companies raped Stevie and FM over the years the same goes for other artists too.

Totally different subject, but I heard that there were some Ledgies that definitely cut to the front of the line where people were lined up for this event. I won't mention any names as to who it was, but I was surprised to hear this. I know we all want to be as close as possible for events like these, but it shouldn't be to the expense of others that had been waiting there for hours before. It's sh**ty and unfair. I know it's water under the bridge now, but I just thought I'd mention it so perhaps those "Ledgies" think twice next time.
Sorry to shake my finger, but I had to.

Maybe one.
Security was very nice and since Dawn & I got there at 11a.m-we made VERY sure of the pecking order. It's not that there isn't plenty of room, it's the etiquette of such things. There were 9 of us that were having a real tough time of it keeping 2 additional people at arms length. They got there maybe idk 3ish and were no doubt there early but NOT before us, and we had a hell of a time, and eventually a verbal match w/ them about the order of things and that it's just polite and the way it should be. The group of 9 were milling about talking to others and so if at any given time, we weren't all there, we all still knew who was first, second etc. NO ONE was given front of line grants. That's just not cool and I've been to TOO many shows where that happens. If you are expecting a large group, you just let those behind you know hey...just fyi I have "x" amt of ppl coming, and if the ppl you told later realize there is WAY THE HELL more than the # you gave, call them on their bs!
If the 2 "ladies" were Ledgies, I'd be aghast.

Ugh, I would be overjoyed if they dropped their label! Honestly, I would think Lindsey would love that! Big labels get in the way... Indie labels have proven themselves imo. Think about comedians like Louis CK and Jim Gaffigan who sell their shows on their own websites! More profit.
Also, everyone keeps talking about how recording with FM is so full of strife. Still? I mean yeah, will there be disagreements, even arguments? Probably, yes, because it's a band with eight different minds (4 members and their agents). However, wouldn't you think after almost 40 years they would be better than ever in terms of the personal difficulties in studio? I mean, they always talk about how they wouldn't take their personal problems into the studio during Rumours because they knew that their music was greater than each of them individually. Based on LB and SN's recent work, as many of you mentioned, I think FM could come out with something pretty amazing! :]
Finally, while I don't think SYW is their strongest album, I still think it's pretty darn good! I also think it's better than TITN *gasp* It isn't like anything else they've recorded really. It sounds very early 2000s, so I wouldn't expect another album to sound like that. But, I don't hold it against them for sounding like the times, that's why they are still around!:cool:

That's what you'd think. And that's what I thought, at least until Stevie's recent Q&A's and what people have said about the documentary.
I'll be ecstatic if we get the 2 or 4 songs that Stevie mentioned on another Greatist Hits album. Even if that means I have to buy another Greatest Hits album.

Sorry, Louie, but I have to disagree. Fleetwood Mac made her rich and famous, but she's paid her dues to them many times over. They're all grown men and Stevie shouldn't be treated like their sole meal-ticket.
Totally agree. Honestly, Stevie was quits with FM probably the case as of Tango In The Night, if not Mirage. Stevie need feel no guilt about cutting Mick loose, if she really wants to. None.

Haha yes, or if you have an iPod you can always just buy the few new songs! But I'd buy a whole new Greatest Hits album if I had to hehe. I hate to see untapped potential, maybe not go to waste but, redirected into other projects just because they want to avoid conflict

Exactly, Mick was a total ass to her earlier this year with his comments about how The Mac was over because Stevie wouldn't end her promotion of IYD's. He just wanted her to drop everything in her personal life because his marriage was in the crapper. Now that his marriage seems to be back on track and his resteraunt is open and he will make millions, nevermind that his "bestfriend/soulmate" was having the time of her life....its really all about how much money she was screwing him out of....
Stevie stayed long after Mr. Buckingham left them weeks before a booked world tour, after milking the free press of videos made for TITN... Not that Stevie wasn't just as screwed up as he was...
All that aside, Stevie has payed her debts to The Mac.
As for the "Stevie needs to move on Lindsey has drama" we have no idea what is said between those two when the cameras are off and the lights are down: I think two of her songs may explain some of that. "Fall From Grace" & "You May Be The One". Ofcoarse I only speculate .....
One of the things I admire about Stevie the most is that she has created a fantasy world for herself and through her hard work, raw talent, luck and determination she made that dream a reality....who wouldn't want that if you could???
I would love nothing more for the four of them to come together and have a great tour and enjoy each other and create something beautiful and be the new "best year" of all their lives.
Poor John .... all he wants is to be pointed to the stage..

What? I didn't notice a skirt. She seems to be wearing a tunic with a draped cowl neck and then tights underneath. I think that's really cute. You know, the way the tunic cups over the hips makes them seem smaller. So, with that wider part hidden, you have the tights coming up and I think it's really flattering to the shape.

I have felt since The Dance that Stevie and LB have been laughing under their breath concerning this "mock" turmoil between them...they know that it keeps us and the press interested...It's a part they both play....Any partnership has its ups and downs and LB producing Stevies music might get dicey but I'm certain they are laughing all the way to the bank;);).

Mick is one of the founding members of Fleetwood Mac. Without Fleetwood Mac, Stevie would not be the multimillionaire rock legend she is now. She owes a debt of gratitude to Fleetwood Mac in my opinion.
I can't quite get on board with this, Louie. Stevie has always been grateful and loyal to Fleetwood Mac. A debt of gratitude is one thing, but life-long indebtedness is another, especially when he has benefitted so much from her already.
Which sort of leads to my next point. You can argue that Stevie wouldn't be the legend she is now without Mick, but can't you just as easily argue the reverse? Mick has achieved a level of fame and wealth that most drummers could never dream about without a talented frontperson like Stevie (and LB and CM too of course). They're all talented, and they've all done well. Now that they're all in their sixties, there's no reason for debts or guilt trips by any of them.

Thank you so much for putting this up. When I watch Stevie, especially on the 3rd video, I don't see a 64 year old woman. I see the beautiful hippie chick that we all love, talking directly to us. She's timeless. And she never changes. And she knows we will all eventually hear and see this interview. Stevie knows her fans. It's amazing. It's an pretty unusual relationship, I think, between an artist and her fans.
