I was just browsing youtube for newly posted FM videos when I found this uploaded on Sept 2nd. High quality version of the '76 Rhiannon performance from The Midnight Special. Make sure you switch it to 1080.

It's like watching it for the first time again.
Sometimes I really love technology.

It does. However, I hate the unison chorus. It was day and night, when they finally figured out to do the 3 part harmony(DUH!).

If you watch closely, LB doesn't even get up to the mic. lol

what the heck is that noise throughout but especially noticeable at the beginning, around the time Stevie says "this is a song about an old Welsh witch"......?? It's like alien parrots are squawking in the background. It comes and goes throughout; I seem to have heard it on all versions of this video.....

It's Mick on drums. He plays with his mouth open and making that noise. Thank goodness they learned to mic his drums differently, but it does almost ruin a perfectly incredible performance. BTW, Christine looks and sounds simply beautiful!

I used to think it was a Leslie that was misbehaving. But Christine isn't driving anything through the Leslie on this song, so I'm now inclined to think it's the Pianet, which was a very noisy beast with guttural clicking & popping, even when it was working properly.
The only other thing it could be is one of Lindsey's foot pedals. Any of you guitarists able to recognize his floor gear in this footage?

Love it! I just wish they showed all twirling and dancing.

For many of us that is the best part of Rhiannon. This copy is amazingly clear.

You can hear it on FM Live Album "I'm So Afraid" and in a few other places.
Mick loves to make noises... "raaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

It's definitely an electronic sound....

Thanks David. Glad someone else was able to hear it... it just drives me batty. I agree it is definitely something electronic and not intentional...

I forgot I posted this earlier in the week!. I have been so crazy busy working 50hrs a week for several weeks. I don't get much time now to listen to my Mac music and hang on the Ledge...:(
I love the Christine/Stevie co-vocals! Glad they did that too on the Dance DVD. Was that just something they did here and there or was it a standard for concerts?

I noticed that buzz too - so annoying! However, it's otherwise amazing.
Too bad they don't rock Rhiannon like that anymore.

95 percent of the time they do this. I've seen one or two where they did not. I love this as well.

This comment made me die from laughs! :D Maybe it's an early EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena).. or maybe it was just Max the parrot that was singing with them in the background, using a vocoder!
Chris is simply breathtaking, as always..will I ever get tired of writing this? Never!! :p
