Wow, that is a really good copy of gypsy video, best one I've seen on YouTube. Thanks for posting this classic, always a winner!

I have this HD video and other FM video in HD. Some days ago I uploaded "Save me", "Love shines" and "Skies the limits", but after just 30 seconds Youtube has blocked the video for "copyright infringement", so I decided to remove the alerts. My intention was to upload these videos, finally in HD, but it seems other people can do it without trouble, while I was risking to have my account suspended. This is something I really don't understand and I think it's not right. I've just 10 videos recorded or created by me on my channel. This is really frustrating. I read there's a way to prevent that Youtube will recognizes a song and apply restrictions, so I'll try it at my own risk..if they'll close my account, I will loose almost 700 FM videos from my playlists.

There's so many Fleetwood Mac related videos on YouTube that I figured they weren't being policed at all! Odd that you were targeted. Perhaps it's the high quality?
This is gorgeous. Gypsy is one of my favorite songs ever and I've always loved the video as well, especially the scene set in the 40s where Stevie and Lindsey are dancing. So romantic! The "future" segment is the only weakness; while I love Stevie spinning in the glitter, whoever did Lindsey's hair for that segment should be horsewhipped.

Beautiful......I always wanted to see this on the big screen.....maybe someday. Great quality. I always thought this video was very "Wizard of Oz." Alot of b&w and then the big...technicolor "fantasyland of Stevie."

I don't know, really. It's very odd. This is what happens when I upload a FM video:
"Your video could include the following contents protected by copyright:
complaints recognized
"Fleetwood Mac-Isn't It Midnight", sound recording managed by:
WMG"
And this was a video created by me. There are almost 20 videos for the same songs, 80-90% of them in a very low quality, but it seems that other people who upload it, even in HD, has no trouble with Youtube or Warner Music. I take no profits, so it's a pity since I have HD videos that I want to share with other fans and I can't do it. They even restricted my own videos, I'm starting to guess that maybe it's just my country that is a crap, as always.

Very good! I have a musical question to ask you. How do you play the very 1st part of Gypsy on guitar & the ending of the song is that Christines keyboards or is that Lindsey playing the ending. I know from the Mirage concert video Lindsey is playing or is it both keyboards and guitar on the ending of Gypsy?

At the ending of the video you can hear a synthesizer (this is what I read), while during the Mirage concert it's Lindsey who plays the same part with his guitar.

Sounds like the first bit is a muted 2 note combo on the 9th fret of 5th string and the 7th fret of the 4th string.
The ending I think is actually a combo, but the main instrument is the guitar with Linds doing a banjo style roll. It's rooted with the index finger on the 13th fret of the top two strings in standard tuning (if I'm not wrong)... and the picking pattern goes back and forth in that quick fashion on the 15th and 17th frets

Thank you so much for doing this. Would you be willing to share the files with us on one of the media share site? I don't remember which of them still works. I would love to have these on my PS3 to watch on tv. I'm still amazed that with all the repackaging of greatest hits and Rumors that we've never had one good DVD or Blu-ray collection of FM videos. This is my absolute favorite one, though. So I really thank you for sharing it.
There's a great moment when Stevie is spinning in her mirror towards the end where you can see her mouth is open. She was probably singing a part of the song but they decided to use the shot at the end instead. I've never noticed it before. And the part where they dump the glitter always kills me. It's all so lush and beautiful and then that happens. I've always wondered if it was intentional or an accident. Or maybe they thought it would be really pretty but just didn't turn out. Yeah, having glitter in your eye is no picnic, I can't imagine someone dumping a ton of it on my head. Poor Stevie.
I was always glad they used an extended mix of the song for the video. The dancers at the end during Lindsey's guitar solo always thrill me to no end. It's like watching the finale of one of those grand MGM musicals. Especially with the guys dancing in the rain. It actually makes me a bit emotional because it's just so beautiful. And the pure joy on Stevie's face as she's dancing with the children. I really think this is the best video they ever did.

I love that "dancing in the rain" bit too! Lindsey's guitar on the end is genius. I also love the way he comes in with that "Lightning strikes, maybe once - maybe twice" and, in the extended version, the extra vocal bits. Of course, Stevie is an absolute vision. She could've been an actress, I think. Terrific video!

This is such a shame. I'd absolutely love to see a clear, good quality Love Shines video. The only other one I've seen is dreadful quality.

I always wanted to ask this. At minute 1:00 they show an old b/n movie with scenes, I think from the 30s, the great depression time, with the lady serving.. I think soup to unemployed people. What's the origin of that film? I've seen that scene in history channel docs or other tv specials. Is it from an old movie? from news? does anybody know?

For the first time I noticed the dancer in the white suit jacket is the same dancer(Brad Jeffries) from the Stand Back video.

You can totally see that spur of the moment when Stevie shakes her head(probably trying to shake it from her eyes).

Her producers probably got this footage from a film stock library where they have old vintage film clips.

Yes .Brad probably helped her choreographed the video too.
I wonder who were the kids in the video.

I want to say that same clip is in the Queen video for Under Pressure, but I could be wrong. I do remember seeing it in another music video in the 80's.

Can anyone read what's on the awning when Stevie runs out into the rain and sings "enough to looooooooove". I've always wanted to find that spot in LA but have never been able to.

We were talking on YouTube about the differences in the extended version of Gypsy that's on The Chain box set and the one from the video and I know we've talked about the differences before but in this video with the new cleaned up audio I noticed something interesting. I noticed it a long time ago, actually, but forgot all about it. If you listen really carefully to the video mix right after Stevie sings "Your bright eyes, I can't find you" you'll hear Lindsey's guitar fading in. It's very faint. But in the Chain mix the guitar starts cold on the beat, it doesn't fade in at all. I have to say the video mix will always be my favorite, even with the nice extended version on The Chain.
Here's another little Gypsy tidbit, I had a copy of Mirage on CD with a little booklet that had the lyrics and they had the background vocals printed in parenthesis. It shows (lightning strikes, maybe once maybe twice) and at the end it had (she was just a wish, she was just a wish) I remember back in the day wondering why they printed that because it wasn't in the song. So when The Chain came out I heard that background part for the first time and was so excited by it. I wonder if they had planned for a longer mix to go on the album originally.

I love Gypsy, all three versions, esp the extended cut from The Chain. (which I recently purchased from amazon uk.) Good question about what version was intended for the album. Wondering too, is the single version the ablum or video cut?

From the sounds of the track in the video, it is definitely the same as The Chain boxed set, but it sounds like they just EQ-ed the low end and the high end to me. The bass line and drum work seems to be much more prominent in the song than before. I could be wrong...

I haven't heard the single version in ages but I recall that it went from the oohs and ahs at the end, cut a few of the "lightning strikes" and "bright eyes" verses but included "your bright eyes, I can't find you" going into the guitar solo. I think the guitar solo was either the edit from the album version or faded out even sooner. I can't recall. I'd be interested to know if the guitar solo faded in like the video or came in cold like the extended version. Does anyone have an mp3 of the single mix? I don't even have the 45. I had heard it back in college when I did college radio. I played it on my radio show and was shocked at the difference in the ending, but I never went looking for a copy for myself.

Joanie Hunt of Blinded by Sounds lists the 5 songs that defined the eighties for her.
http://blindedbysound.com/post/viewpost/blindedbysound-loves-the-80s-the-smiths-skid-row-tears-for-fears-poison-and-michael-jackson
1. ) "Gypsy" - Fleetwood Mac. For this Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac lover, I don't think there's another 80s song that defines what the band or what Stevie meant to me over the years. I could have gone for something off one of her solo albums, but then I'd have an even longer list. As I toss back my long blonde hair (still, again, whatever), I can imagine myself in front of the mirrored closet in my parents' room, wrapping scarves around me so they could float and billow about as I twirled and twirled for hours while no one else was home. So I could become the gypsy "that I was."

Me too. And the Mirage CD sound sucks so I've tried to "rescue" all Mirage songs available at GH, The CHain, The Very best.. etc and "build" my own Mirage album in the ipod. Unfotunately not all songs are in other albums so the volume and sound is not equal from song to song. :(
