Wow, kinda late to cancel? I know ticketmaster will generally send out an automated phone call or email but I bet some people are on their way or headed to dinner before the show. Too bad, I feel for those getting ready for the show. :sorry:
I hope Rod feels better for Orlando and Ft. Laud this weekend. If not, let the show go on, give me my Stevie..
Last year they cancelled Fort Lauderdale due to Rod having the flu. The next night in Tampa I thought he sounded pretty good considering. Feel better.

I just saw where Lindsey is playing- whoa that is a small venue- how exciting!

I got back in touch with my clients and put them back on my schedule for tonight. It's like that brief manic-filled window of time never happened. :o

When do they typically announce a rescheduled date? [nevermind]

CONCERT INFO:

Due to a sudden illness and following the advice of his doctor, Rod Stewart has regretfully been forced to cancel his concert tonight with Stevie Nicks in Greensboro, NC.

The tour is scheduled to resume on Friday, August 3rd at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. Since reuniting on July 20th, Stewart & Nicks have performed six concerts on their Heart & Soul tour this summer – all which have all been met with overwhelming acclaim from critics and fans alike.

Rod would also cancel if Stevie was sick. It works both ways. Whether she is opening for him or not, they know that a lot of people came just to see her and they wouldn't proceed without her, especially given the length of her set.

I'm just glad Stevie's not the one who is ill.

I hope you guys get to see the rescheduled show without a hitch, especially sorry for anyone who made travel plans.

That sux.Last minute. They should of keep it on with only Stevie. She could of sing a full set.I wonder if all of their equipment was set up when he canceled they could of pulled it off.

His fans could get a half a refund if they leave during her set.

I hope she stay away from him.She don't need he sickness like she got from him last year and screwed up her appearances of IYD release .

I hope she does stay far away from him! at least I'm just pissed at rod instead of upset and worried about our girl... when I called stubhub to get a refund for the face value miracle seats the guy tried to apologize for the inconvience.. I told him it was absolutely not his fault and went on an anti-rod tirade... lmfao! he seemed to agree..

Oh I thought is was a 50/50 type tour!

I think I understand, now. Stevie is the supporting act. Kinda stings to write that, but it's how it is I suppose.

I do seem to remember Stevie getting sick last year and Rod canceling also, so you're right about it working both ways.

Just curious though, if Stevie is just the opening act, "could" the main show (in this case, Rod) go on without her? I've never been to a concert, so I don't know how this works?

Keith

A few years back, went to see Sting and Jill Scott. Wn we got to the arena there was a sign stating that Jill Scott would not be performing due to illness. The show was still going on with Sting and people were given the option to attend or to get a full ticket refund.

I guess it depends on the tour arrangements. Too bad Stevie couldn't have went ahead and performed a complete set for the fans who did show up. It probably wasn't her call.

This is why I don't travel far to shows anymore, unless its a place I might want to go without the concert - like New York City. I do feel bad for all the fans, especially those who traveled, who didn't get to see Stevie. I'm sure some might not have another chance. :(

Holy crap. I think there is a math problem here.

$168,576 probably not even enough to pay her crew and band.

I guess she had to sing for free for us.

I hope he is ok also, however, after that cancellation last year he did sound fine the next night in Tampa. Hopefully we will see her Saturday.
In case you didn't see Stevie added a solo show in St. Pete at the Mahaffey Theater. Great venue with 2,030 seats.

I dont know about that.....Jones Beach holds I believe 14,000 and the only seats unoccupied was the top level which i would say holds about 1000. Also PNC was packed as was Boston. Can she do the Garden....possibly if she skipped jones beach and PNC.

i think if her ticket prices for a show at the garden were in the 85-55 range, the garden would b full. and i don't think then she should play pnc & jones beach.

i don't think she should perform at the garden this year cause of all the ny metro shows. i wonder if she'll tour solo again after the supposed mac tour next year

Honestly, she has played Jones beach and Pnc for what like the last seven summers and she always pulls in a big crowd. Also at the Beacon show, there were so many people looking to buy tickets that night.

Was the Ft. Lauderdale show fully sold?

According to someone I talked to working at the Bank Atlantic Center last year in Lauderdale, he said ticket sales were not that good and they were already starting to drape off the upper tier sections and rear part of the arena. I can not confirm his statement but took him as honest. The next night when Rod came out in Tampa he did say he was getting over the flu in what I perceived to be a faking sick voice. He sounded fine on all the songs. There was no duets.

I agree Viv she usually sells out well here at Mohegan Sun and she did this year sold out show there was not an empty seat in the house this venue holds 10,000 seats so the figures are wrong even if you I see heart show they played for $72,000 i would think if tickets don't aren't selling they cancel the show.

Guys, you can't guess seats sold by looking at seats filled at a casino show. Basically everything at a casino is a loss leader to keep gamblers on the casino grounds & feeling good about the casino -- and that includes tickets to concerts. Many of those filled seats may have been given to big gamblers for free, rather than sold at a profit.

StandbackStevie

Yes I know the casino's give away some tickets I don't think they are going to give away over 6,000 tickets free at a loss if an artist can't sell the arena they would cancel the show
they have, if an artist can't sell out they would place them in this small stage setting called the wolf den and those are free shows right in the middle of the slot machine area its a cool place. Stevie has a good following here in CT i have never seen her peform to a half empty arena here in CT it would be sold out or close to sold out. She can also perform and has back in 2010 at foxwoods mgm grand thearte which holds 3500 seats she has sold out there and she loved it there as well as she loves mohegan sun.

Oh, yeah, I have no doubt that she can fill a significant portion of a 10,000-seat venue on her own. I've seen her basically fill the seats at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel and what used to be the Tweeter Center in Camden, both of which seat about 7,000 IIRC, on the same tour -- and I doubt it was the same 7,000 fans both nights, so she's got to be able to fill at least 8,000 on her own. I just mean that arguing "She must have sold more than that, all the seats were full!" about a casino venue is kind of useless -- you can never really tell how many seats they sold by looking at how many seats were filled.

Ok how this work .Like this show when the performer got sick and cancels. Now who pays for the venue with their employees and the performers employees if they traveled and set up the equipment at the venue.

Do they have some kind of insurance package for the performer to payup their employees and the venue scoop some money from the ticket sales to take care of some of the loss on their side.I know the employees won't work for free.

Just got back from the Ft. Lauderdale show. They were both great. No seats draped off except behind the stage. It was 95% full, except for some seats in the nosebleed, it was a packed house. Stevie even said at the end of her set, "See you next year" as in I hope that means a Fleetwood Mac tour coming here :) Terrific show. Rod even said "I won't mention the non-appearance last year" as in the cancellation last year and said thanks for coming out for a second time lol

But keep in mind that about 2,000 of those seats are behind the stage so those don't count towards a sell out. Billy Joel always sells out behind the stage, in fact he sold out ten consecutive shows at the Mohegan Sun in 2008 (a banner hangs in the arena staing this, I had seats behind the stage for one of those shows), Shania Twain also sold all 6,000 seats by doing her show in the round.
But Stevie has been playing smaller venues for years now. Here in CT she plays Mohegan Sun most often, but she last played the Civic Center in Hartford in 1986 (which seats 16,000), and the Meadows (seats 7,500 under the pavilion, another 20,000 on the lawn) in 2001.

Face it, guys, Stevie is NOT a big solo draw. Where are the sold figures that say she is alone without Fleetwood Mac or Rod Stewart or Tom Petty?
Yes, she can be book in casinoes, ampitheaters and pavillions, but those "sheds" are not seen as prestige places as compared to arenas and stadiums.
Example: Live Nation's darling, Madonna. In the Houston area, she'll play Minute Maid Park, or two nights at the Toyota Center, but there is no way she's gonna do the Woodlands Pavillion in Spring.
Madonna will do two dates at Yankee Stadium, or several more nights at Madison Square Garden, but probably has no idea Jones Beach Ampither exits.
Another thing, capacity does not equal the number of seats sold unless you're U2 (360 tour) or Britney Spears (Circus tour) and use in-the-round staging.

I have seen Madonna at MSG back in 2008 great show I can't fathom to put up a few hundred dollars for a concert. I am glad Stevie can go out and tour and play venues to a sold out crowd even though the ticket sales shows different than what appears to be at a show at the casino I rather see Stevie over Madonna which I did have a great time back in 2008 seeing Madonna but for anyone I can't figure to put out $400 a ticket to see her in concert is crazy I am glad Stevie came hear to CT and put on an amazing show as she always does for reasonable prices for tickets and yes Madonna is like 10yrs younger than Stevie and has alot more production and physical activitie than Stevie is a true artist and so is Madonna love her too. I love Stevie:wavey:

Really? I'm not sure about the point you're trying to make by comparing Stevie to the number one grossing female artist in history. Of course there is no comparison. Just because one is not selling out multiple dates at Yankee Stadium, it does not mean that one is an utter failure in life. Stevie is clearly a solid solo draw on the concert circuit- certainly one of the bigger of the veteran rock acts. And she is not exactly working for slave wages either- purportedly a $300K/show guarantee. No, she's not Madonna, but she doesn't have tractor trailers full of lights, rigging, costumes, props and dancers either. I think we can all agree that Stevie does not have universally strong appeal, but to those who get her, she is a potent draw.

As for "capacity," yes, it does seem to be an almost useless figure. I've attended reported "sellouts" that clearly had unsold seats in the upper reaches of the venue. And at casinos, I think it's even more meaningless. I believe the numbers reported from Mohegan. The 3000+ tickets sold probably reflect the actual sales via Ticketmaster; they were probably selling poorly (despite low ticket pricing) due to the abyssmal selection of seats up for sale; literally nothing in the front half of the arena. It is conceivable that the rest of the tickets were comped to high rolling patrons. Case in point, the J. Geils Band is scheduled to play Mohegan Sun Arena later this month. At best, the J. Geils Band is a large club/tiny theatre draw these days, e.g., BB King's Bar and Grill. In the end, I think they will be lucky to sell 500 tickets; they will probably comp the rest of the 9500 tickets to anyone who comes in that night and uses their gambling cards. They are almost the ideal kind of band because they probably perform relatively cheaply, but there are enough people who vaguely remember their two big hits in the 1980s who would not mind coming in for a "free" show. It is obvious that Mohegan's motive is to maintain its brand and image as a top tier gambling/entertainment destination by booking just about any national-level act that they can get their hands on, even if actual ticket sales do not come close to paying the performers' expenses. Unlike Vegas, which has its own potent center of gravity, Mohegan is pretty much all by itself in a decidedly remote corner of Connecticut, so it needs to create its own center of gravity. The Wolf Den at Mohegan is unlike anything I've seen anywhere- an open performance space in the middle of a casino floor where free shows are staged. This past weekend The Mavericks, who could not have come cheaply, were in the Wolf Den. Incredible.

Wow is that so.If Stevie wasn't making any money on touring. Why bother touring. She mind as will sing in the Mohegan Suns Wolf Den for free with the rest of the older 60'0,70's, and 80's artists for free or tour in the fall to the fair circuit and go to the Eastern States Expo"Big E" and other fairs with all the other oldies artists.

I agree .Yes the combo artist shows and the FM shows will sellout. The seats are always full at her shows or maybe they gave away tix to fill the place.

Yes, even though Rod's comments seemed cold and objectifying they were actually flattering in an economic sense. He was saying that working with Stevie makes him money. She's profitable. Even if she doesn't make as much money working alone as she used to, paired with someone else, she still packs the seats.

I agree with you skip, I like Madonna but her audience and the high priced tickets will be declining at some point.

I agree with all of this. I would also add that Stevie has been on tour almost every year for over a decade, and since she tends to focus heavily on the coasts, she ends up playing the same venues over and over. That has to put a damper on demand, which makes it even more impressive to me that she draws the crowds she does. She'd be filling even more seats if so many people hadn't just seen her last year, or the year before that, or figuring they will catch her next year, etc.
