just got back and wow people are a-holes!!! oh my my sister and i were standing during stevie and the two people behind us that were sitting decided to flip out on my sister and kick her chair as well as hit her during the show because she was standing. she flipped out on him and then told security so then during gold dust woman we stood again because who doesnt stand during gold dust woman and they poured pop all over my chair so it got all over my pants and feet. ugh people are jerk offs but anyway stevie was awesome and she did leather and lace with her vocal coach so that was really good and at the end of the show everybody was standing and clapping for her. i dont think i would see her with rod again though because they have different fans thats for sure!!! rod was pretty good though i was surprised. i will upload pics soon.

Sorry to hear about the incident at the concert. Seems to be the norm lately. What part of the set list did they do Leather and Lace? Very interesting. Can't wait to see complete set list if anything else changed.

thanks and you know i just felt bad because it was my sister's first time seeing stevie and i think all that crap going down ruined it for her. i told her when fm comes around i will take her and everybody will be standing. what is odd is that i heard the people behind us telling somebody how they were big stevie fans so i dont get it. if they would have been nice about it we might have sat for a song or two but it was odd to see so many people sitting for gold dust woman. i mean come on ya know? when rod came on everybody stood which angered me even more but i swear the average age was 60-80. stevie definitley has a younger crowd! we did meet some really cool people at the show though too so it wasnt a total loss just wish stevie would have been solo.

i put the pics on fb and they should be available to everyone. oh and by the way some guy in front of us passed out during the show. i never in my life saw somebody got down like that but the guy was out for a minute until they had the paramedics came over and check on him. they had to get a wheelchair to take him out of there.

The same thing happened to me in DC on Friday. It was the first Stevie show I've ever been to that I had to sit almost the entire time except for the end. People had a total fit if you stood. So disappointing but not unexpected after what I've read from shows last year with Rod. And yeah, the crowd were old farts mostly. Stevie has fans that are all ages but not Rod. I will never again pay to see her open for him or anybody else. I loved seeing her but have to say it wasn't worth the money. The shortened set and then we didn't even get Leather and Lace because I guess she was resting her voice and didn't want to push it. She sounded great and the Stevie fans in DC loved it. But have to say, she really stuck it to Rod by doing Leather with the vocal coach in Pittsburgh. Bravo Stevie. I bet she can hardly wait for these shows to be over and get back to her solo shows.

totally agree with you on everything and i was so glad she did leather and lace too. her vocal coach has a great voice so i was so happy to hear them do that song but i did miss hearing for what its worth. stevie is definitley not an opener though so that kind of pissed me off. oh well i guess it was better than nothing but still sucks to spend that kind of cash to be sitting at a freaking rock concert!!! i think from now on i will only be seeing stevie solo or with fm.

oooh i have to say that i really enjoyed soliders angel and stevie sounded great on secret love as well. during soldiers angel is when those jerks poured pop all over my chair so i had to wait for somebody to come over and clean my seat so my sister and i had to stand during the entire song when everybody else was sitting. the ladies next to us offered to let us sit on their rod stewart t-shirts but i told them i couldnt do that but that i appreciated the offer so there were some nice people at the show tonight. stevie sounded great though and she had the crowd in the palm of her hand by the end of the show!!

I imagine the fact that he's done a whole string of albums of nothing but standards from like the 1940s (or even older) has endeared Rod to an audience that seriously pre-dates rock and roll. TOTALLY not the crowd that Stevie attracts. What a poor mix!

I don't know about that.. Everyone I know that loves that genre just hates what he has done to some great standards.. I do love that era, but never been a Rod Stewart fan so..
It had to have been very interesting backstage when her set was done.. .

For those that were at the show, did she do the normal intro of saying she's not doing a Greatest Hits tour anymore? I'm guessing she didn't because her set (with two exceptions) is a greatest hits tour. I'm guessing the change of moving "Leather & Lace" back to her set is because most of the people don't know or care about "For What It's Worth". These are mostly Rod Stewart fans, so it makes sense to do a set that focuses on her most popular hits.
Did she come out to do "Young Turks" with him or has that been dropped?

I was at the Pittsburgh show last night and I agree. I will never go to a show where she is an opening act. It looked like a big crowd and I usually get floor seats, but I'm short so this time I thought I'd go up some. We were to her right in section 112 row D. There were actually a row of empty seats in front of us. We had the biggest drunken jerks behind us and he spilt beer all over me before the show even began. then halfway thru they put their feet on the seats beside me. I could have killed them. I was going crazy when Stevie came out and no one around me even stood up. I wanted to bust out of the seat and dance, but the crowd wasn't with me. I hated it. I yelled and held up my hands and danced in my seat. I tried to take pictures, but the old farts in suits beside me kept staring at me. They ended up moving to the row in front of us. What the hell did you come for? She did Leather and Lace with her vocal coach and it was beautiful. No Rod duets. No for what it's worth either. She sounded great on Soilders Angel. Best live I've heard so far. She sounded good, but seemed tired. We stayed for most of Rod, leaving to beat the crowds during Maggie May. He was very good and I enjoyed it, but I hated the crowd. I think it's demeaning to Stevie to be an opening act and then no duets. It was weird for me. I've seen Stevie/Mac many times since 1983 and this just didn't feel right to me. But she was wonderful and seemed very happy to be there last night.
The only other thing I didn't care for was, I wanted the wounded warrior t-shirt, but it was a baby doll and I didn't think I could fit into it. They need to make them regular size.

Probably because I'm a big guy(fat, bulky) no one ever tells me to sit down. During the Boston show on July 10, I stood for most of the show. Sometimes I'd look behind me and everyone was sitting. I wonder why they dropped the duets? Especially if she's doing L&L in her own set. This seems like something more than just vocal rest is going on. Rod is no longer introducing her, no duets, etc...I wonder if she didn't like him calling her a "support act" in his recent interview and this is related to that??

Her playing first is ok with me. When they were doing the duets and he was introducing her, I think it made it seem like a more "inclusive" environment though. When Stevie and Don did their short tour (which I much prefer over this), I think Stevie did it the right way even though Don played first every night.

I put it on last minute to go to another Stevie show and find out from my friends it was a girls tee.It fit me ok on top but my belly was showing.LOL.....

Maybe not, but it's fun to imagine she did. If she just poked him in the chest and said, "Hey look buddy. I've had enough of the butchering night after night. You aren't doing my song anymore," that would have been rather entertaining.
Just slipping it into her set first without saying anything to him beforehand would have been fun too, but I doubt he listens to her set, so he would never know.

I agree. When Stevie and Don did their tour together it worked. They sang together and I don't know how to describe it, but it was one of my favorite tours of hers. I didn't get to see her when she toured with Chris Issak, whom I love, and they didn't perform together. But he was the opener too. I think it would have worked better if they had done songs together. I think something must be up, because she did Leather and Lace, but without Rod.

When we got to the show the music playing was alot of R&B, mostly Gladys Knight I believe. I did hear I Would Rather Go Blind, but not the Christine McVie version. I thought that was pretty neat. When Stevie was ready to come out, they did her Not Fade Away cover. That was awesome. I think she should start every show with that.

Even though Rock n Roll isn't one of her songs, I liked how her backdrop showed all the photos of rock n roll stars. Herself included of course. At one point I thought it was going too fast and after awhile it was the same photos shown over again, but I thought it was pretty neat. After she did Stand Back she came out and explained that the cape was used in the video. You get what you pay for she said. So funny. Then she gently folded it and laid it on the riser behind her saying something like she was putting it to bed now.

There's no question that Stevie Nicks and Rod Stewart are legends in the music industry. One was a founding member of Fleetwood Mac, and was once called "The Reigning Queen of Rock and Roll" by Rolling Stone Magazine- not an accolade to be taken lightly. The other is one of the best-selling musicians of all time, both domestically and in the U.K., where he's spawned an obscene 31 Top Ten singles.
It's also pretty obvious that the masses understand what it is to have two Rock and Roll Hall of Famers touring together. Consol Energy Center was decidedly packed on Saturday night, from the folding chairs on the floor space far up into the nosebleeds. And despite what was likely a higher average age than most concerts at Consol, many came out in full dedication, sporting Stevie Nicks outfits or Rod Stewart hairdos.
However, the concert- which never featured the two singing together- took some time to get going. Nicks was the first to don the stage to the tune of Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll"- a fun song, to be sure, but not necessarily well-suited for the rock singer. After playing through "Enchanted" and "Secret Love," both of which seemed to be more suitable for her style, it was time for one of the big hits.
Described by Nicks as Fleetwood Mac's only number 1 single, "Dreams" brought the crowd to its feet as soon as the song started. However, it was in this particular track that it became apparent how much her vocals have changed: She was unwilling to hit some of the high notes required of the track, and her approach to singing has taken on an undesirable evenness. Essentially, her voice is still there, but its scope has begun to diminish.
However, the dark and electric "Gold Dust Woman" was able to infuse her performance with more energy than previous tracks. The following "Stand Back" brought some welcome 80's sound to a crowd eager for some dancing (even if it was often awkward).
Stevie Nicks then took a moment to explain the inspiration for the song "Soldier's Angel:" a visit to a military hospital. However, the description left a sour taste -- she seemed to emphasize her sacrifice of "7 or 8 hours" there more than the sacrifice of the young men putting their lives on the line.
But regardless, she finished her set with a trinity of blockbuster hits: Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon," and her own "Leather and Lace" and "Edge of Seventeen (Just Like the White Winged Dove)." By the time the last song played, the blatantly un-raucous crowd was singing and clapping along, and Nicks executed the songs with distinct accuracy. An encore of "Landslide" was clearly the highlight of her performance as it normally is, and the message was all the more powerful for a musician looking back on her career.
The curtain (which featured a technicolor steam engine) lifted for the ever-jacketed Rod Stewart about a half hour later at 9, though he maintained that they would play for as long as they could. And, true to his word, his performance ended close to the 11 o'clock curfew.
Starting with a cover of the O'Jays "Love Train," Rod exuded his seasoned showmanship throughout the set. He continued with "Tonight's the Night," a song that would perfectly complement a suburban summer night.
The swinging piano of "Having a Party" was countered by the slowness of the following "You Wear It Well." And after the Vietnam War feel of "Rhythm of My Heart," "Young Turks" did well to juxtapose increasing age with trying to maintain youthful fieriness.
Rod then brought out the "Pittsburgh Strings" to perform a few more songs, including Van Morrison's "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?" A rendition of "The First Cut Is the Deepest" employed the entire section, giving the song a depth of flavor.
Rod ended his night with two of his biggest hits: "Hot Legs" (during which he punted soccer balls into the crowd) and the classic "Maggie Mae," which the crowd began singing even before Rod himself.
An encore of "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" finished his enthusiastic set. For the night as a whole, Stevie Nicks' more subdued style was countered by Rod Stewart's always-animated performance- a well-executed one-two for the seasoned veterans.

Ok, I stopped reading after the line, "one is a founding member of Fleetwood Mac"........ignorant much?......with all the information so easily available.......with the years of interviews and articles written about Stevie and FWM right there on the Web to be read......there is no excuse for such a wrong statement to be printed. Damn, do your homework......if you could look up Rolling Stone calling Stevie the queen of rock & roll, then you could look up the year that Fleetwood Mac was formed and what year Stevie Nicks joined the band.

i hear ya there michelle. they really screwed themselves by doing that. i just think its funny that they moved to the end of the row for rod's set and everybody else was standing so i am surprised that they didnt yell at the people in front of them during the rest of the concert. ugh if i would have known they were going to be like that i would have gladly gave them our seats because they were in the last row of the section.

yeah for some reason the post gazette writers are always hard on stevie. its so annoying and it wouldnt have mattered if she hit every single high note and danced all over the stage they would still have something to complain about. i swear i could write better reviews!
