In a recent interview, both Colton Dixon and winner Phillip Phillips said Stevie should be the new judge on Idol. Both guys said she was their favorite mentor, having done her homework the most, caring about the kids.....I doubt she would commit, but VERY cool!!

I agree I really don't want to see her as a judge on there because the show is so long past its prime they do really need to cancel Idol.I can't stand watching it.

I think the Mariah and people of her caliber are not what the show needs. They need something different.

In the last 10 years. the ONLY episode of AI I have watched was the one with Stevie.

I am guessing that Stevie will be the nicest judge ever and FAR from what the producers want. She won't say anything mean, contrived or sassy. She will be nice and loving and think everyone is great and blow them kisses and hugs. That type of stuff does not sell commercial time. Drugs, breakdowns, fights and bitchyness sells commercial time. If they REALLY want the sparks to fly they will hire Stevie AND Lindsey and sit them opposite Randy Jackson and it will be a HIT. :D

if they cast Stevie, it would be a bold choice, maybe one that would draw real music fans in, she's different

But if she took the gig it would mean no Fleetwood Mac tour or recording and would probably keep her from making a new album. I'd be totally against that.

^yeah absolutely. I'd rather she tour/record with the guys, or make another album down the line than waste her time on that show. Steven Tyler was kinda-sorta over fighting with his band when he finally took his seat as a judge, and their new album has taken forever in part because he was so busy with the show.

Forgot Mariah had signed lol. She and Stevie would be so random!

I totally agree. She would be awesome on here....and it would bring her alot of new fans.....I know many of the young girls still see her has this cool witchy icon........BUT, we would probably get no new music. 1 season on Idol would probably mean another 5 years for a new collection of music. :distress: no no no.

Like I said in the "Nashville" thread, with all of the voice problems she's been having with singing lately, Stevie might want to take a break from touring and become one of the new American Idol judges for Season 12.

Yes, she will!!!! She's a legend!!!!!!! Look at her catalog. Plus, unlike JLO, Mariah actually wrote her songs.

the Idol gig (though i know it won't happen), wouldn't preclude recording music. she could record before or after the show. it's only 2 hours.

I think she would be more likely to make a new album if she did American Idol. It would give her more fans. I don't think we will ever see another solo album from her. As far as the Fleetwood Mac Tour is concerned, I think that is a waste. They should be recording or her and Lindsey should get BN out there.

I like the idea .But I don't.It will take her away from other projects. The job would be great for other artists that are not active in the biz.

I agree with the comments about that will put a stop on her other works.
It would be great cash for her if she does the show.

Mick should of picked up the gig a couple years ago.He would of be a good judge.

I not a fan of the show.

If she only signed for one season the mac could hit the road right after the finale...talk about jazzing up ticket sales if they performed on the show. Also it would give them more incentive to cut an EP of 5-6 songs to boost up enthusiasm for a new tour.

I agree on the one season stint. That will give the producers time to find another judge to replace her.

That's a good point! Didn't think of that. But gotta say all her recent teasing about never doing another greatest hits tour left me feeling there's a 50/50 chance she’d make 1 more album. Or maybe she’s just planning those epic request shows with cookies and beer.

I think she's too good for AI. Know it’s a big deal ratings show, but always thought it was super tacky :o
But....if she had a role along the lines of, or better yet, alongside of Jpants Jimmy Iovine, thats something I could get behind. Maybe we could get mac setup at Interscope, or Stevie if she's outta her Warners contract.

From the "Ask Stevie" part of The Official Stevie Nicks Website: "Question 132 - from Tammy in Nashville
Do you ever watch American Idol and if so, what do you think of it?
Stevie's answer:
I do watch it sometimes, I think it’s very funny, and if I was a judge I would be Simon Cowell!"

I think Stevie would jump at that chance of Idol. She is very smart. She would not be doing the Rod Stewart tour if she were not.

I would have to agree. I stopped watching Idol when Simon left. It seemed he took the talent and dynamic with him. I enjoyed X-Factor much better. I still love the voice of Drew Ryniewicz.
I'd prefer if Stevie wouldn't even consider such a job. I think it would be pretty grueling on her voice as well, especially during all the auditions.
Now if Fleetwood Mac was to perform on the show I'd probably watch.

Two words..

HELL. NO.

She would be the token Paula Abdul, kind of spacey and over the top positive and respectful to those with no talent. Noone would take her seriously again.

DO NOT WANT, I seriously might have to burn my BD vinyl if this happens.

I disagree. When she was a mentor last season, she was very insightful and able to give the contestants meaningful personalized adviced, suited to the type of artist each wanted to become. Although some people might expect her to be spacey, she was anything but, and there was NO similarity to Paula Abdul.

She won't do this. It's not in her blood to sit in a chair every week and critique AI contestants. She wants to sing, dance, and be a part of a great romance. Still forbidden, still outrageous.

That caused Cher quite a career setback. I'm not sure AI would have the same effect on Stevie's career. But that raises a question: has anyone considered Cher for a seat as a judge? She certainly likes to give her opinion on things, why not singers?

i saw the show twice the first time when it first started and wasn't sure what i was watching with all the coke commercials the last time was this past season, for 10 minutes , i couldn't take any more of it and left and it was on at a bar and they spent more time on critiquing the persons look , STEVEN TYLER , would have never made it past auditions based on looks and j-lo would have failed miserably with out the aid of auto tune and computer assistants . I think CHER has better things to do like promote a new cd with songs by gaga and P!NK and tour than i-DULL.

I have mixed feelings about this. I used to watch the show, but stopped caring years ago even before Simon left. I really would hate to have to watch it again, but I would for Stevie. I guess whatever is best for her I will support, but hopefully best for her is not this show.

It would be a perfect job for her after her touring days are over. Not right now. Though, it would increase her concert audiences. It would also take one year away from her creative work.

She should be lucky to get this. It would generate her so much press. People who don't her music might buy her music out of curiosity. It would reinvigorate her career.

I agree that this would be great for Stevie to do AFTER she can no longer physically/mentally tour...

But she's still creative and she still seems to want to tour and record... and I really wouldn't want her putting any of THAT on hold for a stint on Idol.

However, it'd be great for them to bring her back as a mentor as I honestly think she was one of the best they have ever had on there [and it seems the contestants felt similarly].

I'm not buying the arguement that Idol would stop from doing more albums. I think it would like a fire under her ass and help her move on from In Your Dreams. About touring, she has done way too much of that. She needs to stop it and create. Either ****tttttttt, or get off the pot!

If she's doing Idol, she won't have TIME to do another album while it's filming, will she? That's the problem. Not that it would like drain her creativity, but that it would drain her of time, and then once that time is up, she might be too tired/too whatever to want to record again.

Obviously it's all just speculation..

What is the likleyhood of her doing another album anyway. She can record on the weekends or basically whenever she wants. She just has to give the demos to her producer and show up for the recording its not that hard. It's not that hard to do another album. She doesn't even have to be there for most it. The problem is motivation.

Fannymac
07-31-2012, 03:07 PM
I don't think there's a lack of motivation on Stevie's part....I think she just needs to think more of herself and her career...she's concentrated on and worried about Fleetwood Mac too much over the last decade! (And this is coming from someone who REALLY wants a new FM album!!!!)
