It's been quiet! How was it? What was Stevie's set? Did she keep in the new songs she's been doing, or revert back to the set from her last go-round with Rod?

Have not found the set list, but did find a few posts on-line about Rod Stewart disrespecting Stevie during Leather and Lace.. He didn't bother to learn the words. Fussed around with a broken necklace while she was singing and when she put out her hand he just ignored it Never liked him and even less now. Gawd I HATE she is doing this...
He’s such an ass.*
I can’t stand Rod Stewart.

So if this is correct, it looks like she dropped Enchanted, Annabel Lee, Ghosts are Gone, and Love Is...and of course, Leather and Lace was moved to Rod's set. Am I missing anything?

I was there.
That's seems about right for the set list.
Nothing to write home about.

That is the setlist. I should add that she still seems to be struggling with her voice. She started off well, but you could hear something was off by "Dreams." I wouldn't be surprised if she had some kind of chest infection; they take forever to clear up.
I didn't see the duets with Rod, but it doesn't surprise me that he flunked up! It's not like he doesn't have a TelePrompTer!

No. The first set list posted is right.
But I didn't stay to see Rod.
So I don't know what they sang.
I figured it would be leather and lace and young turks.

I am curious.... did many people leave after Stevie finished?
Read on a few tumblr posts that alot of the audience does and wondered how accurate that was?

Why would you not stick around for Rods set? You already paid the money. Plus Stevie pops up like three songs into his set. I had no interest in seeing him last year with Stevie, but after dropping the cash to see the show, I wasn't about to just leave early. I was very surprised at how great his show was, was never a fan before, but was pleasantly surprised.

I left after Leather and Lace. I wasn't paying attention to how many left directly after Stevie's set, but I did see a number of people leaving after her duets with Rod.
It was still very much a Rod crowd, though. Only a few people stood for the new songs and some people in my section didn't even stand for the hits.

I got stuck in traffic for 3 hours and missed almost all of Stevie  I got to hear Edge of 17 and then Landslide as me and my sister tried to find our seats. I was so mad I was crying. We stayed for half of Rod, after Stevie and him sang together we just ended up leaving.
What a waste. :(

Definitely a much better set than last year's Heart & Soul tour. I'll be going to the show next Tuesday here in Nashville.
Kinda bummed that she's doing "Rock And Roll" instead of one of her songs, and that I won't be able to see "Love Is" live. I wish she would retire "Landslide" from her solo set list and just reserve it for Fleetwood Mac shows.
However I'm excited that she's still doing "For What It's Worth", "Soldier's Angel" and especially, "Moonlight". Ever since I heard those words, "...some call her a strange lady from the mountain..." about 20 years ago on an old bootleg cassette and fell in love with it, I dreamed that one day she would sing it live. It will finally come full circle for me in just three more days. :)
Does anyone know how many more songs that Rod sings after Stevie does her two songs with him? I ask because I will probably leave right afterward just to try to avoid the exit crowds and parking lot traffic. Is her appearance at the middle of his set or at the very end?

I am so sorry. :( I thought the same was going to happen to me. I was stuck on 71 for almost an hour. Traffic was just not moving at. all. The only reason I ended up getting there on time was because I cut through to the moving traffic once I got off the exit ramp and literally just kept cutting people off all the way up to the parking garage. Stevie came on 5 minutes after I got to my seat. I will never go there again if I can help it. That sort of traffic was ridiculous.

That's terrible that you missed Stevie. Sorry to hear that. Traffic was bad. There was an Indians game last night too so that didn't help. I didn't stay for Rods set because I don't like him. Never did.
Stevie didn't get to do the edge walk due to a barrier that kept the front rows back away from the stage. I got cheap seats and was considering upgrading when we got there but I'm glad I didn't.

I was surprised that Stevie was playing to a full house and they were standing through much of it. I stood the whole time. This is a sharp contrast with the horrible NYC crowds last year at MSG. This was so much better. If only her voice would cooperate...

Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks team up for a crowd-pleasing tour opener at The Q in Cleveland, despite rough edges
Published: Saturday, July 21, 2012, By John Soeder, The Plain Dealer
Between them, Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks have two of the raspiest voices in show business.
So perhaps it was to be expected that a double bill featuring these Rock and Roll Hall of Famers was a little rough around the edges.
Nonetheless, the old pros delighted a middle-aged audience Friday night at The Q in Cleveland, where Stewart and Nicks -- baby-boomer reality check: they’re 67 and 64, respectively -- launched the 2012 installment of their Heart and Soul Tour. Reported attendance was 10,000, although the top sides of the arena were curtained off.
Following a warm introduction by Stewart, Nicks got the ball rolling with a surging rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll” -- a bold and inspired choice. Between verses, Fleetwood Mac’s resident sorceress rattled a tambourine, kicked up her high-heeled boots and let it be known that she can still work a shawl like nobody’s business.
To her credit, Nicks didn’t take the easy way out by simply coasting on past glories. She sang four selections from her latest album, 2011’s “In Your Dreams,” some of which worked better than others.
“For What It’s Worth,” which Nicks said was inspired by a cross-country bus trip, was a pleasant, country-tinged highway song. Less impressive was “Soldier’s Angel.” Its heart was in the right place -- Nicks wrote it after visiting wounded veterans -- but the music itself was droning.
Nicks has lost some of her vocal range (which was never too expansive to begin with), although it didn’t stop her from belting out “Gold Dust Woman” and “Rhiannon” with panache.
Predictably, the loudest cheers during her set were reserved for those ’70s Fleetwood Mac standbys and the ’80s solo hits “Edge of Seventeen” and “Stand Back.” Guitarist Waddy Wachtel, a longtime Nicks sideman, embellished the latter number with some wonderful slide work. He also expertly provided finger-picking accompaniment on “Landslide,” which made for a poignant encore.
Stewart sounded wobbly on his opening number, the O’Jays oldie “Love Train,” but quickly hit his stride for “Some Guys Have All the Luck” and “Having a Party.”
He soon brought Nicks back onstage to join him on a couple of duets. Unfortunately, they didn’t quite click.
Nicks was out of her element on Stewart’s “Young Turks,” whose breathless swagger wasn’t particularly well-suited to her style. “The First Cut Is the Deepest,” which Stewart crooned by himself later, would’ve been a better fit.
For his part, Stewart appeared lost during Nicks’ “Leather and Lace.” Still, he got a big laugh when he pantomimed wriggling out of a pair of panties while Nicks sang: “Take from me my lace.”
You might blame opening-night jitters, except Stewart and Nicks did the same two songs together on the road last year.
Stewart fared better on his own during an “unplugged” segment that included charming, string-laden versions of “Have I Told You Lately,” “The First Cut Is the Deepest” and “Ooh La La.”
He proved fully capable of rocking out, too, to the tune of Chuck Berry’s “Sweet Little Rock ’n’ Roller.” As for the tried-but-true bit during “Hot Legs” where Stewart kicked soccer balls into the crowd, it never gets old.
By the time he wheezed through “Maggie May,” his voice was shot, although it rebounded sufficiently in time for him to call it night with a rambunctious “Shake Your Moneymaker.”
Even when he couldn’t hit the notes, his charm and sense of humor never failed him. Toward the end of the show, the video screen flashed an old quote from Stewart about how he didn’t still want to be singing “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?” when he was 50, lest be become a parody of himself.
And there was, well into his 60s, still singing it.
Self-parody? Maybe. If you can’t laugh at yourself, though, the joke’s on you.

Concert Review: Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks at Quicken Loans Arena
Posted by Jeff Niesel on Sat, Jul 21, 2012
OK, we get it. Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks are both classic rockers. But their differences are more striking than their similarities, something that was certainly true last night at Quicken Loans Arena, the first stop of the summer installment of their “Heart and Soul” co-headlining tour. Even when they performed together during the middle of Stewart’s set, each appeared a bit out of sorts. Nicks wore sunglasses as she and Stewart sang his “Young Turks,” and Stewart, who didn’t seem to know the words, sang only a few verses with Nicks on her “Leather and Lace.” Still, the two seemed to really appreciate each other (Stewart referred to Nicks as his “dear friend”) despite their differences and each delivered a strong performance.
Nicks opened the show with a 90-minute set that benefited from the fact that she had such a strong backing band. Led by guitarist Waddy Wachtel, the ensemble confidently blazed through Fleetwood Mac tunes such as “Dreams,” “Gold Dust Woman” and “Rhiannon.” Nicks’ raspy voice has held up well and she appeared genuinely engaged while singing “Stand Back” and “Edge of Seventeen,” hits from her solo career. A beautiful acoustic version of the Fleetwood Mac tune “Landslide” brought the set to a close. While they’ve become one of her defining traits, the wardrobe changes detracted from the overall performance. Between each song, Nicks would duck into a white tent to change shawls and dresses, but each outfit had a similar Goth-inspired look that made the singer look as if she were stuck in the ’70s.
Stewart’s stuck in the past, too, but the guy has loads of energy for someone who has just entered his late sixties. He got the party started with a cover of “Love Train” and then never let up during a 90-minute set, delivering hits such as “Some Guys Have All the Luck” and “Forever Young” while occasionally dropping to his knees, shaking his ass, and vamping with the band. During the middle of “Downtown Train,” he changed from a blue pastel suit into a pink pastel suit without missing a beat. He brought a few local string players onto stage for an acoustic segment that concluded with the Faces’ “Oooh La La,” and he then let the backing singers take on “Proud Mary” as he put on a paisley sport coat and proceeded to kick soccer balls off the stage and into the audience during “Hot Legs.” He closed off what he called a “remarkable evening” with “Maggie May,” “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” and the Elmore James’ tune “Shake Your Money Maker.” Like Nicks, his raspy voice also sounded intact, even though it was often buried in the sound mix.
I was surprised that Stevie was playing to a full house and they were standing through much of it. I stood the whole time. This is a sharp contrast with the horrible NYC crowds last year at MSG. This was so much better. If only her voice would cooperate...
i've been to just one concert in Ohio (and it had great crowd!) but i've heard over and over that Ohio audiences are the best!:nod:

i'm surprised people here are not happier about this setlist... isn't it basically the same as her solo setlist with just 2 songs dropped (considering she dropped Love is and GAG already during last solo shows)? seems much better than the last year's H&S setlist. maybe there's hope yet and she'll really stick to not-just-hits during the FM tour too?!:nod:

If nothing else, I am heartened that you seem to be keeping close tabs on a singer that you supposedly are indifferent about. Is it possible that you are finally acquiring a taste for chiffon? :p

I am SO glad Stevie's at least doing 4 new songs in the set. I'm going to see her next week in Milwaukee and was so afraid it would be the same setlist from her last tour with Rod.!!! She hasn't been in Milwaukee solo since 2005 and before that 1994 (where she filmed Blue Denim).... I've had to go to Chicago to see her since 2005 and last year I just didn't have the money:mad: ... so YAY!!! (and PLEASE Stevie..DON"T drop any new songs before you get here)

Stevie Nicks and Rod Stewart at Quicken Loans Arena
By Candis_Hecking. Published on 07/22/2012
Downtown Cleveland was a busy place on Friday night. If you found somewhere to park your car then you were lucky. One of the events happening was the Stevie Nicks and Rod Stewart show at Quicken Loans Arena
Cleveland was the first stop on this hot summer co-headling tour, "Heart and Soul". Once again Quicken proved to have a not so good sound system. It didn't matter if you were sitting close or further away from the stage, the sound was muffled at times.
Nicks performed first for a 90 minute set which included Fleetwood Mac songs "Dreams" and "Landslide". "Stand Back" and "Soldier's Angel" were two songs performed from Stevie's solo albums. Throughout the show she stood dressed in black and occasionally changed her shawls.
Stewart had an amazing talented band behind him. They sparkled in pink as they sang and played instruments against a colorful stage setting. One of the backup singers performed "Proud Mary" as a solo as Rod changed his suit.
Only Rod Stewart could pull off a pink suit with pink shoes to match. He performed songs from the past including "Forever Young" and "Downtown Train" as fans sang along to every word. Stewart often extended the mic to the crowd to hear his fans singing. It's easy to see Rod loves performing. He mentioned how blessed he felt and told the fans he loved them.
Nicks dressed in black and wearing sunglasses joined Stewart on stage for a few performances. As they sang "Leather and Lace" Stewart seemed to have forgotten some of the lyrics. It was obvious Nicks was trying to help him along.
Fans of every age filled the The Q on Friday night. Their was a little girl around 6 years old wearing a Rod Stewart t-shirt singing along to al the songs. I love seeing kids enjoying concerts at such a young age.
The two proved they still know how to put on a rock show.
