While trying to organize my storage unit (which has fallen into being severely disheveled over the past couple of years), I found my collection of XTC CDs...took them home & loaded them into iTunes (and therefore onto my iPod). I was pleasantly surprised how good they STILL sound today (there was a time that I thought they sounded pretty "dated" to the 80s, but I happy admit now that I was wrong about that...I thought they sounded as current today as they did almost 30 years ago) :nod:

Somehow over time & many "relocations" (as well as a one time rash of thievery by a roommate), I've lost a few CDs of theirs...namely the first 3 (White Music, Go2, Drums & Wires) along with Mummer; as well as the 2 albums under the pseudonym "The Dukes Of Stratosphear" (25 O'Clock and Psonic Psunspot).

Anyone else here an XTC phanatic? :shrug:

{sound of crickets chirping....LOUDLY}

Hmmm...I guess not. :shocked:

Ok, has anyone here even HEARD of the band XTC? :shrug:

In listening to some of their mid-80s albums, there is a very quirky solo Lindsey Buckingham feel to quite a few of their songs. I'll bet Lindsey went through a phase of listening quite intently to some of their material.

I'll stop the world and melt with you. You've seen the change and it's getting better all the time. There's nothing you and I can't do. The future's open wide...

Yeah! (Thank you!)

I think what kept them from being a more popular band was that after only one or two tours, they stopped touring due to Andy's severe paranoia & stage fright. I've heard that despite that, they actually were a very good live band.

Ah I remember more of these songs now ..I just wasn't aware that all of them were by XTC.They were actually pretty good.I'll have to revisit them.

I'm not a fanatic about XTC, but really enjoyed Dear God back in the day.
I also much, much prefer the Crash Test Dummies cover of The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead.

Skylarking is still one of my most favorite "go-to, haven't listened to in a while" albums. Oranges & Lemons wasn't on my fav list until quite some time after it came out. All XTC work prior to Skylarking, I'm hit and miss on.
