Thanks Viv.She looks great.Yes .She wears boots all summer long. Those look like winter boots she's got on.Her feet must be burning hot in them.

That pocket book must weight a ton.It looks heavy. She could knock somebody out with it.

She does not look to happy in the second shot."Ooh somebody recognize me " went through her mind.

She looks a bit overdressed for this time of year but maybe she gets cold in air conditioning. When I see these pics I just think wow, if ONLY she were on her way to or from the studio ....

The funny thing is like on this day it was probably close to 100 degrees F outside and she's dressed like it's a clod winter day. I think she looks very tired and the boots have seen younger days.

Ha, Karen went to go get their luggage.

The top looks lightweight. I can see a little chiffon trim and the jacket might not be heavy. But the boots are definitely wintry. Must make her feet sweat quite a bit.

^I read it's a Balenciaga, very expensive handbag.

From Wikipedia :
Today, the brand is most famous for its line of motorcycle-inspired handbags, especially the famous "Lariat." Balenciaga has four exclusive boutiques in the United States. One Balenciaga store is located on 22nd St in New York, NY. A second store is located in Los Angeles, CA on Melrose Avenue. Recently, a third store opened at the famous shopping center South Coast Plaza, in Costa Mesa, CA

You would think that someone of Stevie's notoriety would choose to travel in a less conspicuous manner. Of course she is drawing attention to herself! Wearing all black with Ugg boots in NYC in the middle of June is not exactly staying off of the celebrity radar. And those chandeliers, er, earrings are not exactly screaming "daytime travel gear."

The hair is a dead give away.Plus the black outfit .She could of put a brunette or a red wig on and make herself not to look like Stevie Nick.I probably walk right by her and not recognize her.

Yes this photo is screaming ."Hey everbody.I'm Stevie Nicks".

Exactly. Stevie's said before that she can get away with not being recognized when she wants to. But that there are also times when she DOES want to be seen. This is obviously the latter, with her hair down & done, big earrings, full chiffon wardrobe regalia, etc.

On another note, she looks so trim these days. I'm so happy for her... she seems to be in the best place mentally and physically she's been in decades.

It looks like a Balenciaga style bag alright. But when comparing it to pics online it doesn't look the same. It must be her favourite handbag though because its also in the pics of Stevie outside boa steakhouse in 2009..... P.S anyone out there with the TMZ video of that night feel free to post. Its such a good Stevie moment but no where to be found online.

She looks fab--most especially for a woman almost officially a senior citizen-- but for the boots...... they are just so low-rent Brittany Spears trailer trash I can't stand it... I get she wants comfort and that's fine, but at least flat heeled boots in black with that outfit would do wonders to elongate her legs....that tan just breaks up the line of her leg and doesn't do her any favors.

So, what do you think Stevie does to pull up her face for formal appearances, so that the lines disappear? I think she must have some temporary fix for them rather than surgical intervention. Because her mouth looks one way for the Bette Midler performance and completely different when she's in her street clothes.

I've been wondering this for a couple years now. I'm sure just smiling helps to pull things up. She's also knows how to maximize the benefits of make-up (and there are quite a few celebrities who don't).

I was listening to Steve Miller on the Redbeard show a couple weeks ago.He was saying it was great not to have his face on his earlier albums. It gave him freedom from fans noticing him .He can go shopping with a store full of people and be free.Kiss had the freedom too in their days.

Stevie is to pretty to hide her face on a album cover.

Vivfox, where did you get those pics? Did you take them? Cause otherwise I'd suspect those are from a winter day :),

about the big bag I think there's an explanation. This is from People's magazine may 11, 1998, when she was one of the 100 most beautiful people in the world:

I never check my makeup bags when traveling. I could get to Germany, and my clothes and equipment will be lost, but I'll have plenty of makeup ans shampoo. It shows clear priorities!

Of course that was before 9/11 and I doubt there were shampoos in that bag, but least we have a clue. ;)

You're certainly on to the process. "Make up people" (there's a better name for the industry/art of it, I'm sure) have all sorts of temporary "fixes," for those that can't or won't undergo something more radical . . . and these fixes can be purchased commercially apparently, although probably not as well done as Stevie's make up artists can fashion. Here's a website with a few ideas:

http://skincare.lovetoknow.com/Instant_Face_Lift_Tape

It's not quite smoke and mirrors, but tape and pulling behind the hair, etc. ;)

I'm willing to bet she makes good use of injectables. Juvederm and the like do WONDERS for those lines. It lasts for maybe 6 months before you have to do it again and it only takes twenty minutes in the dermatologist's office.

Does anyone else notice the funky appearance of her left hand? The hand is a little blurry (probably in motion) but it the knuckles closest to her hand look rather enlarged almost like someone with arthritis. Can't tell if it's just an artifact of the photo or something real with her hand.

I've been saying it for years. She has arthritis. Her joints are swollen a lot. I would put money on it being the reason for her use of the Power Plate.

Stevie...it's going to be 90-something today so, if you're coming to the Big Apple...make sure you take your down coat!

I think it's hysterical. I remember during one concert on the SYW tour, she was going on about hot flashes and fanning herself. It was quite funny, actually (although...hot flashes aren't really all that amusing). Anyway, she had a fan and all that good stuff. But, she sure bundles up at the first sign of anything under 100 degrees.

Odd woman (part of why I like her but still...)

I was flipping through TV channels one day and caught some recent Dolly Parton interview and she was wearing similar style gloves, although Dolly's were a nude color to match her skin as age really can show in the hands.

On American Idol when Stevie was a mentor, she definitely had swollen, knobby knuckles and such (arthritis). Growing old is a bitch and worse when you're a celebrity.

I think Stevie has always had decidedly gnarly looking hands/knuckles. She's probably double jointed! And/or she cracks her knuckles obsessively (like me). And I should know; my fingers and knuckles have always been large and gnarled.

The first thing I noticed when looking at the rear cover of Bella Donna was, oh my, what's up with those granny fingers?

I always thought she had the hands and fingers of a witch. Also, this is a picture she would never have used if it were today. The dark shading makes her upper arm and her body look fat. That and the thick hair make her look huge.:sorry: She was only 33 years old and uber thin but this pic makes her appear much older and almost grandmotherly.

As she sings it, she was born in the desert, and lived most of her life in warm climates--a southern Cal gal. "Thin" blood, the loss of body fat from ongoing dieting/exercising, and getting older--she probably does get cold easily. In the northeast, lots of senior aged (and approaching) citizens don't tolerate the cold--the "snow birds" that fly to Florida each winter, and those that retire to Arizona.

I wonder how long it's been since Stevie has actually seen her reflection in those snow covered hills! ;)

Thank you for, at least, being compassionate.:xoxo: I worry about her reading people's comments on this site and how she must feel when she reads all the negative slurs. Can you people just be content seeing her live her life freely and not make judgements about her every single nuance, physical or otherwise? I personally am just so greatful she is still alive and able to make music. Maybe, I'm being overly dramatic here but have some heart and just think how she might be feeling. After all she's still greiving the passing of her mother and that certainly ages a person.
Sara Fleetwood addressed this same feeling about peoples comments about Stevie and she was not happy in the least bit and I don't blame her. I just hope she isn't reading now!

While I agree it might not be fun for the object of these conversations to read them herself, this *is* a site for fans to talk about whatever fans want to talk about. I don't think anyone on here is bashing Stevie, just yapping. It's kinda like the old saying, "if you could ever hear what your Friends are saying when you're not in the room, you'd freak"

The people on this board are folks who adore this woman, have followed her career for years, have spent uber bucks on her cds, dvds, concert tickets, travel to get to her concerts, etc etc And they are people who would truly have her back when it counts the most.

But I think we can also be honest in our discussions too ("drop-dead honest" lol). Otherwise, it becomes sycophantic. I think the point we're making (at least I am) in pointing some of this stuff out, is that she is indeed human.....and it's good to be reminded of that from time to time. She's not some eternally youthful robot who can leap around in platform boots for us forever on command. She's human... and because it's fairly rare, it's kinda compelling when we get to see the every-day human side of Stevie and not just the glossy airbrushed image.

I have. It's almost 10 years than I suffer from it and it worsened after 2 wrong surgeries to both my knees. So what you said it's true: when it's cold (but also when it's too hot) the pain get worse. Specially in the lower back (sciatica since I was 12 yo due to a trauma after a fall that moved my vertebrae), knees, shoulders.
Anyway, poor Stevie must have gone through hell with the pains due to her arthritis! :(

I'd like it could work for me too!

I totally agree with you, BrownEyedGirl. I hate negative comments about this or that artist, specially if addressed to the physical appearance. Stevie is 64 years old and still looks GORGEOUS, not so many women are so lucky to look like her, so healthy and modern. Then, another important thing is that she still sings for all of us and her voice and charisma are the same of when she was 29 years old. When you look at her you can still see this beautiful, funny and sensitive girl she was back in 1974, when she joined FM. The emotions she still gives to her fans are ageless, and so is her wonderful music.

Michele

I don't see why she would, frankly. :)

And if her "people" read it, I would think it would be more their job to pass along the gist of the comments, i.e., "there's a lot of talk about your red cape and how much people love it" "there's quite a lot of buzz about Fleetwood Mac not doing just another greatest hits tour" or whatever. Individual posts really don't even matter that much in the bigger scheme of things because one person's opinion is just that, one person's view, but if there is a trend that emerges, that's what tells you something.

Don't mean to put too fine a point on it; it may be because as a professional researcher one of the things I do is actually comb through things like social media to identify emerging trends to feed new design opportunities and we kill ourselves to get really honest feedback from product users and the like.....so in my work I tend to think of this kind of stuff as gold

Right and we do get the sense that consensus talk gets passed on to them. I mean, I remember we used to do polls on FM Legacy and I Know I'm Not Wrong won one of the polls and then it showed up in the setlist.

Obviously, SOTM hasn't shown up, but Mick gave an interview and it seemed like he knew very well that fans talk about that song all of the time. So, they have a general idea of what is said. It would not be productive to run back and tell Stevie fans are putting down her physical appearance. On the other hand, I think they did tell Stevie we were stealing her music, so who knows what they say.

Totally agree, Michelle with everything but respectfully disagree that fans (at least in this thread) are "putting down her appearance". I think some comments were made that it appears she has arthritis or something going on with her hands based on her appearance out in a public setting that got photographed. I don't want to make a big deal out of this coz I don't think it is a big deal. Oh yeah, and I for one didn't like her boots...

Well, I was asking about the lines around her mouth. But they aren't there in concert and I don't want her to look offstage the way she looks in concert either. I love to get a glimpse of a fresh face or those big hair rollers we've seen some time. I relish the glimpse behind the image, like the photos we got when they were rehearsing early in the morning for The Today Show.

I'm not a big fan of her, so I don't know about her health or other problems, or if she has arthritis or not, so EXCUSE ME but I just commented what other users wrote before me, talking about it. If she has it or not, of course it's only her business and there's nothing wrong with her hands. Having had my grandma with arthritis, I remember that she had this bone shape too... but who says that maybe it's not simply the natural shape of her hands?
Anyway, it's not offensive talking about arthritis as it's not offensive talking about menopause and all the problems it brings, because it's a natural course of life for every woman. In an interview, Stevie talked openly about her menopause and all the problems resulting from it, so were's the mystery?
When people talk to their grandmothers, do they ever say "Oh Grandma, you're full of wrinkles in your face and your hands are limp"?. I don't think so, because we all know that it's something natural, when you begin to age. Just because a person is famous we think she/he must always look perfect, but it doesn't mean they should elbalm themselves just to make fans happy. Loving a celebrity means also respecting her/him.
For example, I love Chris more than my life even now that she's 69 years old and to me she still gorgeous; I'm happy she looks like a lady of her age and not like a little girl with her skin all stretched
It's a polite way not to point out other's wrinkles or skin spots, so comments about the fact that Stevie looks old and has wrinkles, in my opinion are very disrespectful.

And people can make observations, which I think is only natural, without being disrespectful or insulting.

I think the thread starter was just pointing out what we have discussed on here for years - at times the swelling in her hands is painfully obvious.

And, I still respectfully say, I believe she has arthritis. I'm not sure why the thought is surprising.

I agree with others, I do not think anyone is bashing her, just commenting.
The Stevie of Death thread is far more disturbing (but funny) than this thread.

Also the thread discussing money and personal wealth is very off putting as well.

Stevie shouldn't read this board. Most celebrities avoid fan sites, a general rule for celebs. I know a few celebs who have read fan sites/youtube comments....they got over it real quick and stopped.

I agree with both of you on this!
Some celebrity may be too much sensitive and reading hate comments or teasing could be devastating and cause depression and pain. And it's absolutely understandable.

If my Grandma was a public figure in show business I might tell her she had wrinkles, just in case she wanted to do something about them. Show business grandchildren should not remain quiet. Kenny Rogers' grandchildren should be imprisoned for not speaking up and telling him just how bad things are.

I didn't see anyone bashing in this thread. And, I have to say that I've been a fan of this woman for quite some time. And I think she's lovely. Period.
But, I think she's also really, really eccentric. I am eccentric myself. Just not in the same way. I view it as a GOOD thing.
If you had been in NYC the week Stevie was here and felt the oven-like temperature we had...you'd understand how odd seeing Stevie all bundled up was.
Never crossed my mind that she had arthritis. Especially since she's been "wearing boots all summer long" since she was...what? 30?
Anyway, if I can make fun of Lindsey voluntarily turning his body into a sauna by sweating into a leather jacket that even the original cow would refuse to wear...I think Stevie's furry boots can take a little ribbing, too;-)
I will say that having near-winter-like weather in June, at Jones Beach, during the SYW tour, made Stevie bring out the most awesome selection of clothing ever! So, turn down the heat, NY.

Hi Michele,
well, for a celebrity sons or grandchild giving advices is always a good thing to do (Maria Lourdes do the same thing with her mum Madonna, and vice versa!) :D For example, when you mentioned Kenny Rogers I also remembered Ellen DeGeneres, and I think she loves her winkles too (anyway her granddaughter is still too young to think about certain things :D )
And I'm also thinking about Chris and the wonderful lines around her mouth, that she already had when she was young, so it's a good thing she never removed it through plastic surgery. I find her wrinkles sooo sexy :o While I DON'T find sexy a woman like Sophia Loren, for example, since her face is too unnatural for her age. If you have a double chin or eyelids dropping, of course you can use some remedies, but never overdo it or your face will drastically change and you'll become unrecognizable, even to your biggest fans!
I also love these pics of Stevie at the JFK Airport, since she REALLY look like herself, and it's great :)

Hi Regina, of course it's a good thing to be a little bit eccentric, because it means that you care about yourself, your body, your appearance and how other people look at you. It's a positive thing if it doesn't became an obsession and you don't start to undergo hundreds plastic surgery procedures. What upsets me is the fact that more and more girls ask their parents permission to undergo cosmetic surgery, because they feel ugly or they want to look like their fav celebrity.
The ONLY thing that worried me about these pics, as I wrote before, was the fact that Stevie is wearing winter boots, so I was thinking about her poor feet. Ok, you can wear boots even in summer (there are many beautiful summer models), but the pair she's wearing must be a winter model. I guess it's comfortable for her! And as you said, SHE'S LOVELY. Period. :D

Vivfox, where did you get those pics? Did you take them? Cause otherwise I'd suspect those are from a winter day :),

but the guys right next to her are wearing short-sleeved shirts ;)

She's human... and because it's fairly rare, it's kinda compelling when we get to see the every-day human side of Stevie and not just the glossy airbrushed image.

very well said.

Hey be nice!! I wear and have always worn my Ugg's all year round.. They started out as boots surfers wore coming out of the water and the lining is very cool and extremely comfortable.. I think I have had my latest Ugg's like 15 years?? And I always wear them on a plane.. I tend to always freeze on planes...
I think she might have been pissed at being photographed....

Forgive me!!
But the concept remains the same!! The lining is still made to keep the feet cool and dry!!

Besides, she wanted to wear boots so what's the problem with that?? I have to say they are wickedly comfortable to fly in!! She is Stevie Nicks!! She wears boots all summer long!! She wears boots all winter long !!!
Go Stevie!!

I agree with you! :D
They are soft, and then on the plane the temperature drops drastically and your hands and feet froze so it's useful to wear some extra clothes. I never wear open shoes or flip flop, specially outside, since I'm afraid I could hurt myself...so even when it's hot I wear sneakers outside and slippers with socks at home.

Ugg has become like Kleenix.. started out as a brand name and now describes the item..

The boot lining is generally made of sheep fleece and keeps your feet dry and cool and very very comfortable. I have a few pairs and wouldn't stop wearing them for anything...
They originated in Australia and mainly surfers used them... On a plane just heaven, especially with longer flights... Also very comforting ... like having a hug for your feet and last forever!!!! And no, if cared for properly, they do not stink!!! "_)
Besides ... Stevie Nicks with stinky feet... boogles the mind

I use that slippers too, in winter. I have a beautiful pair that my ex gf gave me and it's similar in shape and colours to the black/white Converse All Star shoes, but it's fur made :D
However, this type of slippers are more appropriate for a stylish lady like Stevie: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41bMpxDSyKL._SY395_.jpg
