I'm disappointed not because it's Fleetwood Mac, but because this likely means we won't see any new material. Which means there will probably never be new Fleetwood Mac material.
Looking an the bright side, I'll be giddy at the prospect of seeing them live as soon as I'm over the disappointment. I became a fan right after Unleashed, so I've never seen them in person.

Mezz, thats great for you!! :wavey: I'm an old timer and I've seen them since the Tusk tour and have seen Stevie since The Wild Heart tour....Time is ticking bye and I'm disappointed that there wont be any new material....Stevie seems to let the "boys play" during these last two tours and I'm not interested in hearing Lindsey grunt and groan for two hours...lol...I am happy for you tho...There's a real possibility that they might put some hidden jewels in the setlist...

All I saw was something about movies on Rhiannon and Goldfish and Ladybug movies, which I've learnd is code for no Fleetwood for 18 months at a minimum.

I prefer new material to tours. What a bummer. Stevie, being the "prolific songwriter" that she is, should be making more music, not doing more randmom tours with Rod and then Mac with nothing new out. Big, major bummer. : (
UNLESS they use the tour to finally release the IYD documentary, hoping it will stir up interest. Otherwise, totally could care less.
Wonder if Stevie will ask Mac to do any of her IYD songs live?
Sounds silly, but in the 70's-80's it could be fun seeing as many live shows as possible. The songs were not as "old" and been done to death yet, and Stevie's wardrobe and hair and looks changed so often, and her vibe of the songs, it was always something fresh. I just don't feel that any more. So I'd rather have new material. Even with that, they don't play enough of it live when they DO have it, but at least we have the cd at home.

Most of us have years of Fleetwood Mac tour experience, and we know all too well that the setlist has barely changed since 1980. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to predict what they'll be playing next year.

It'll be the Unleashed tour setlist, with maybe another "surprise" or two thrown in to replace "Storms," "Oh Well," and "Say You Love Me."
Whether or not I go depends on what those surprises are. If tickets are $150 (and that's probably being conservative), I won't be going just to hear them doing Dreams, Rhiannon, GYOW, Gold Dust Woman, Second Hand News, Big Love, Never Going Back Again, Gypsy, Don't Stop, I'm So Afraid, Tusk, The Chain, Silver Springs, Sara, and Stand Back.
If they decide to change it up and give us Sisters of the Moon, Angel, Crystal, Frozen Love, Not That Funny, Don't Let Me Down Again, or any other song that they haven't done on multiple tours over the past 15 years, then I'll certainly be happy to shell out the money to go.

Nah. I was a fan before I was an "employee" (used very loosely). I'm only part-time now, since my role became more limited due to job and family (as in reconnecting with my birth parents, who are married, and three full biological siblings). I only started working for Bob in March, 2010, when he recruited my GbV tribute band to back him up for a one-off. Then he made me a roadie for GbV after I filled in for Tobin Sprout at rehearsals. It's not every lifetime somebody gets to actually play with their heroes. I just got extremely lucky. BTW, if you Google "Guided By Voices Oslo", you can see me lighting Mitch Mitchell's (NOT the Hendrix drummer) cigarettes. One of my many duties.

Exaggerating much?
Probably not enough, really.
The only creative set in the past 30 years was the Tango set, but they recycled most of that for the BTM tour.
But really, it's the same basic set, with a few changes here and there. Six or seven tops. "The Chain" will be the first or second song, "Dreams" will follow it, "Go Your Own Way" will end the set, "Don't Stop" will end the encore set, and there will be a fairly quiet final encore song. (Aside from "Dreams," that applies to ALL incarnations from 1982 onward). It's all very, very predictable.
More to the point, the lack of generosity towards other fans around here is dismaying sometimes.
Who cares? I'm spending my money, or in my case, not spending my money. For what they charge, I'll put on "The Dance" and they'll all be together, or "Live In Boston" and I'll see the current Mac. I'll just skip over the SYW songs and pretend I'm at the show.
Now, if the tour is in 2013 and they do a bunch of songs celebrating the 40th anniversary of Buckingham Nicks and Mystery To Me songs (i.e. Why and Hypnotized), then count me in. Otherwise, I have Fleetwood Mac Live, The Dance, and Live In Boston.

I'm always happy to see the Mac on the road. They could jumble up the setlist with classic tunes which have not played live in a long time.Sisters of the Moon is one tune.
Also like all of us keep praying for new tunes to be recorded.

Well unfortunately I really don't think Stevie will ever sing SOTM again. For one thing she doesn't have the voice for it anymore. And Stevie really doesn't rock out anymore like she use to. And that song get's pretty rocking towards the end. They could do an acoustic version of it. Kind of like the demos we have. But highly unlikely. That might not be a bad idea for a future record for Stevie. Kind of like the Rhiannon she did for the Enchanted box.

But Stevie needs a rocker in that set. Her FM tunes tend to be more mellow. One thing I don't like about the live set is that you basically alternate between Lindsey's crazy guitar theatrics and a sleepy Stevie tune. I don't think it creates a very good flow, and I think Stevie is the one who suffers for it. I guess it wasn't as noticeable when Christine was still around, and there was a wider ranger of song types in the mix. Even though some people don't like it, "Stand Back" absolutely MUST stay in the set, and I think there shoud be at least one other song in there to get Stevie fired up.

I will definatly go to see them if they tour in OZ, Ive only seen them play live 2 times, 77'' & 09. I did enjoy their Unleashed tour, tho im hoping the setlist does NOT include the majority if their greatest hits including Landslide & Dreams:sorry:. I would SO love to hear my fav Stevie/Mac songs such as, Sisters Of The Moon, Beautiful Child, Angel, Storms and Sweet Girl, but not gonna happen:distress:

Aawww those were the good old days....the brick house cover was one of my favorites too but I preferred the 1979 FM tour when the setlist included the disco tribute and Stevie performed Staying Alive while rollerskating across the stage....aaawww the good old days!

I'm indifferent! I'd be MUCH more excited about it obviously if they were also talking about some new music, even an EP - which was discussed w Dave Stewart as a possibility last year. They could knock off 6 songs easily esp. with Dave at the helm co-producing or whatever. That man wastes very little time and could speed up the process. I'm probably dreaming...but one can only hope! I also just don't think Stevie wants to go out and try and sell another new record! She worked very hard in 2011 to promote/sell IYD! Unfortunately for us crazy fans, I'm sure an "Unleashed" type tour is a much easier pill to swallow.

Thats One of the reasons that I like Dave .He does not waste time in the studio producing music.Unlike the normal bickering and wasting time that FM do in the studio. Now who give a sheet if radio plays new FM tunes. But we use fans are dying to hear new tunes.SYW had great radio airplay with Peacekeeper and SYW in 2003.
WE JUST WANT NEW FM TUNES!

Stevie won't be 70 years old until 2018. Even if this tour stretches into 2014, she'll still be in her mid t0 late-sixties.
Look, regardless of what Stevie says about FM from time to time, she knows that the band made her career. We all love her solo stuff, and she does have a huge devoted following, but her stuff with FM is what put her on the map as far as the masses are concerned. And she knows it. She has a deeply-rooted love affair with FM. They all do.
That's why I like to think that this tour is not the end of things. Opinions vary wildly on here, but I really do believe that the band will make new music one last time as a swan song...either before the tour (not likely) or afterwards. They know they're not getting any younger, and I really do believe that they care about the band so much that they will discuss or already have discussed their plans for the end of their tenure. They won't fade out like a puny pilot light. And they will NOT end their careers in FM with another greatest hits tour.
I like to think that they are smarter than that and have too much respect for what they have created to just let the band fade out without one more original album. They might not tour to promote it. And if anything, I can see them releasing new material just to satisfy themselves, and then put the band to bed for good. And if they DO end up touring for it, I'll see you all there, bathed in wistful tears.

Anyone remember when Lindsey said something to the effect that the 2009 tour was supposed to stir up creative juices to make some new music.:shrug:Now he and Stevie did produce some viable new music since then but he was referring to Fleetwood Mac.I really can't be excited about a second "oldies " tour in a row for FM.

I would be happy under certain circumstances:
BuckinghamNicks...leading into FM. Give a good five song 'recap' of their work prior to FM and then do the FM concert. As a bonus, do two new B/N songs. I think it would be a lovely nod to those of us who really wanted a B/N (N/B) tour and wouldn't hurt Mick or John any since they are in it for the paycheck (which, in all honesty, is what the other two are, too, but at least they give the appearance, once in a while, of being in it for artistic/nostalgic reasons).
OR
Do new material (too much to ask for, I know).
OR
Do a Fleetwood Mac oldies tour. BUT, half the set list should be things we either haven't heard live or haven't heard in 20 years, live. Ban Landslide, Big Love, So Afraid and Rhiannon.
So..therefore, in conclusion, I probably won't be happy because none of the above would probably be FM's choice. Will I go?
Yes.
It's interesting because I had a conversation with my brother today. And he went to see some singer I've never heard of. And he didn't like him. Not at all. Why? Because he "sang things I've never heard of instead of his hits." (SHOCKING! I almost wanted to go to this dude's show;-)
So...FM may know what they are doing, from a business standpoint but, it's still tough to swallow when they've been doing this stuff for so, so long.
I think I would need to hear Sister of the Moon, Angel and Seven Wonders to be excited about any FM tour
i would love to hear SOTM (love that screaming guitar!), but other than that the only way i would like an FM tour is if there's no Stevie songs in the set whatsoever. :p

I will take them when they come around its alright to me if its just a greatest hits tour its all good to me i did though the 2009 shows were great but at times you can see Stevie is not happy, I agree with others she is happier and full of more energy on her solo shows. Can't wait for Mohegan Sun Show its just an evening with Stevie Nicks and thats the way I want momma in concert no opening act just Stevie. I feel maybe one more FM greatest hits tour in the works if it happens it might not. Stevie did go thru the motions on the last tour in 2009 with them.

A Fleetwood Mac tour without Stevie singing is also known as a "Lindsey solo tour". Which is also known as "empty seats.". It's also known as boring and self indigent.(except for his rousing show-stopping versions of Family Man & Holiday Road....yikes)

Considering that the tour probably won't take them as far as Poland I think I am disappointed by their decision. I really would rather see Stevie releasing another gem of an album, in the vein of "In Your Dreams". Right now she doesn't need Fleetwood Mac legacy to back up her solo career. And "Greatest Hits" tour doesn't sound like promotion of a reunion album.

Have they ever played Poland? Everyone's favorite bad guy, Michael Fleetwood, will surely saturate the market and have FM perform for as long as possible. He'll try to keep them on the road for 2 years. 7 years later he'll be whining to the press about how poor he is again and guilt Stevie into another long tour accompined by no new music.:woohoo:

Happy or Not? Me, not so much. To me, the nostalgia trip ended with the Dance. They toured behind Say You Will as a new album, Unleashed was an obvious cash raising trek. I would be interested if they were playing some brilliant, edgy new music in the vein of Seeds and In Your Dreams, but to hear the same Rumours selections again and again, I'll bow out. At this point in their career I would say the set list should contain no more than 3 or 4 selections from White and Rumours. I'll save my money for artists who are taking some risks and doing brilliant music, Fleetwood Mac as a band are definitely not doing that. Speaking of brilliance the latest Patti Smith release is a must listen immediately :)

I'm not sicking up for Mick. By right Mick is the employer and the band leader. If he says come to work. You got to come to work.If we try to pull something on delaying FM tours/recordings like Stevie-Lindsey is doing. Our Bosses will say hurry up or you get fired. You know Mick won't can them because they are the money makers of the band.

It's ok that they tour and get out there and stuff but what a cynical move to go out on tour without an album, even an EP, a song...*something*! They're all so defeatist when it comes to new music ,the whole ''it won't sell'' comes up so they don't bother.
You've got to hand it to Mick he certainly knows how to twist the arm of every member of the band. I personally applaud Christine McVie for telling him a firm NO in the late '90s & early 2000's:thumbsup:

I don't think it's that way anymore. Right or wrong, Lindsey and Stevie run the band now. As evidenced by this year's activities, they come to work when they want to, not when he wants them to.

Yeah, I never begrudge anyone the opportunity to make money. The band really doesn't have that many touring years left, so they should make the most of it while they still can. I'm just bummed that, not only is this going to be a huge speed-bump in the momentum that Stevie was finally building again as far as creating new music -- but, based on the timeline, it doesn't seem like we'll be getting anything new under the Fleetwood Mac header either.
I'd like to hope they have something more up their sleeve, but that's probably just setting myself up for disappointment.

I just think they should have said: we won't ever record a new album ever again. Then I'd be happy with all the tours left in the world. But now I just feel lied to and betrayed and like they are wasting precious time.

Even with that, they don't play enough of it live when they DO have it, but at least we have the cd at home.I agree with this too. There basically just doing what they can to get tour $$ with nothing really for us as fans. Fmac & really Stevie solo is disappointing to me. I haven't seen Mac live since 03 & Stevie the last time was 08 --there live shows are disappointing to me now. Plus the prices are too much for what your getting now. I'm just not interested in the 'live' experience anymore really for any band unless the price is cheap enough & I like them. Stevie & Mac 'could' do more than they DO but they don't want to --really that kinda thinking has just stopped there success NOW to me. They could release DVD of past live concerts & re-issue there previous cds with rare songs & books with rare photos etc. To me there IS a market if they'd only look beyound there scope of things. Heck just release these things in limited quanitites I know I'd buy something if it was cool & rare. Unfortunately, they aren't interested & that not only hurts them but US as a fan base too. IMO anyway, no one has to agree with me. Its sad but I guess it is what it is.:shrug:

You really should have checked out Stevie's show last year, or this year if you can. The half dozen songs she does from IYD are really great. I think the show she is doing now strikes a great balance between new and interesting songs for the die-hards plus all the big hits for the masses.

This is basically me, too.

I have little to no interest in live shows and tours - I live too far off the mainstream and saw Stevie in '07 and FM in '09 anyway.
I can never understand how people who call themselves "artists" release a new album every 10 years or so. And go on endless oldies tours instead.
People like me NEED NEW MATERIAL. To buy and listen to.
Otherwise, well, I hate to use a word like "has-been," but I am tempted...

Aawww those were the good old days....the brick house cover was one of my favorites too but I preferred the 1979 FM tour when the setlist included the disco tribute and Stevie performed Staying Alive while rollerskating across the stage....aaawww the good old days!
That reminds me that somewhere in my vault I have
the video of both the Brick House and Staying Alive
cover performances.
I remember Stevie skating and running over one of
Lindsey's guitars. He picked it up, and in jest threw
it at her. Those were the days.

Wait!! I had NO idea these covers actually happened. I would be so grateful to see or hear them!
I agree with most opinions of disappointment..cash tour/$$ tickets/mick hindering new material/etc etc. I however only became a serious fan after Unleashed and for as long I have the opportunity I will suck I up to pay to see them live. At least once.
Going to Stevie's show last year for the first time was filled with excitement. And even for tired songs we all complained about..cough Landslide..were quite magical to actually hear live for the first time. So I will appreciate what they provide when they still remain in good health, because even that might be ending soon unfortunately. And I will PRAY for at least an FM Ep to accompany the tour, as well as a BN tour/new material to rightfully complete their careers. I can only hope everyone who does go will be in the same appreciative mindset while I respect all others' opinions who wish to sit this one out!!
Just my 2 cents.. :wavey:

I have both the bootleg copy of her singing Staying Alive and a grainy video of the Brick House cover...Stevie is wearing an indian head dress and Lindsey is wearing a tube top...I also have Christine, Stevie and Lindsey doing the cover of Beach Boys, Kokomo...Awww, those were the days...just let me know if you want me to burn you copies.
THIS.
I agree The Dance should have been the last of the nostalgia. I LOVED the Say You Will tour. And seeing Lindsey touring with his last three albums has been such a wonderful experience. Seeing Stevie tour with IYD was fabulous; she was so energized. They are both at such good places creatively it would be a huge bummer to see them going through the motions as they did with Unleashed.
I will go because I love Fleetwood Mac dearly and cannot imagine NOT seeing them. I will be excited to see them even though I found the Unleashed Tour to be a bit boring and I basically felt like a junkie getting a very expensive fix. I am just disappointed that there will be no new album if and when this tour happens.
It's hard being a "hardcore" fan and being at these massive and expensive shows with people who just want to hear the hits and get drunk.
But I know when all is said and done and I hear the crickets, I'll forget about my kvetching and just have some fun. :)

I think there is an inherent dissonance when it comes to trying to intellectualize a Fleetwood Mac greatest hits tour. On the one hand, woo hoo, I get to see my favorite band again. On the other hand, why are they wasting precious time not doing something creative? I also think there is a difference between seeing it on paper and experiencing the reality of it all. Yes, it sucks majorly on paper. But say what you will about a bunch of old fogeys in their 60s croaking out their greatest hits... it's still a fantastic experience. And on some nights it's downright transcendent. For myself personally, I enjoy the payoff of investing myself emotionally with a band that keeps on plugging away at it. I never imagined at 12 years old, wearing out the grooves to my Mirage LP, that I would be able to see Fleetwood Mac (albeit a redacted iteration of Fleetwood Mac) in my middle age. I had always assumed that they would break up or be long retired by now. It is gratifying to see them today... not unlike observing distant relatives. It's enough for me to know that they are okay and that they are still the same artists that I grew to love back in the day. Yes, a new FM album would be wonderful, but if the fates decide it's not in the cards next year, it will happen some other time. I am fairly confident of that.

Yes, to be in the room with all of that energy. To turn around and see a sea of people singing along with them, it's amazing. They may do the same show every night, but when you're seeing multiple shows you can get a thrill out of the slightest variation and there's a sense that you're participating in the parts that don't change. It's not something that even the greatest Youtube video/audio can capture.

It's not like she wouldn't have toured with FM eventually anyway. She said as much. Mick's divorce and whining probably just escalated things by a few months, got things back on track faster after the wee derailment.
Michele
Mick had nothing to do with it. Those plans were already made. Originally, they were going to go out in 2012, but it was delayed for business reasons that has more to do with industry stuff & the promotional/marketing they will be able to capitalize on in 2013, rather than any sensationalized personal in-band drama one interview generated.

I'm sure everyone here knows my feelings on this- yet another Mac hits tour is pretty much my worst fear. To me, it seems like the Mac is simply setting themselves up to be an oldies touring act. I was able to stomach the notion of the Unleashed tour because it was promised that the tour was simply to warm up the band for a new studio album. Obviously that never happened. And since there have been zero comments since about another studio album, I think the writing is on the wall at this point. Who knows, maybe the Mac is secretly in the studio right now, or will go into the studio next year following the tour. But it's beginning to look like odds are greatly stacked against that. And to me, that's really unfortunate. Lindsey and Stevie are making the best solo albums of their careers right now. They still have the potential to make really fantastic music together. :)

I'm not going and its a big waste of time. If the tour fails, which it just might, Stevie will wish she didn't listen to that money-grubbing whore Mick. THEY ARE OUT OF TIME. This is a money grab and then a couple of heart of attacks and no more music.

They have a cardboard cutout of Lindsey at the control panel while the real one tours. The real one has left his songs with Stevie and the guys in the studio to produce his stuff till he comes off the road. Stevie purposely destroy's his best demo:laugh:(a la Smile At You) and whatever she produces is what will be released on record.

Ouch. Can Mick collect SS checks. He's 64 now.His Bday is next week .What kills me .Why does the entertainment people get in a marriage .Most of them turn sour in a couple years and get dirty at the end.Ok I rather see Stevie with FM then this Rod combo again .If this Stevie up coming tour was planned with Rod at all shows.I probably stay local and hell with Boston,AC,NYC and Holmdel.I would of just go to Mohegan Sun and that will be it.I won't be in the mood to sit through 2 hours of Rod and worrying about getting slammed in the head with a soccer ball .Again I do like Rod.But my focus is on Stevie performing only.

Well, they recorded Say You Will for 6 months while Stevie was out touring behind Trouble In Shangri La! :D It'd be my dream for the band to record an album in the 6 months between when Stevie and Lindsey's solo tours end later this summer, and when the band strikes out on it's new tour next year. I still can't fathom why it takes this band 12-18 months to record new music. Especially as many completed songs as Stevie and Lindsey no doubt have in their vaults, not to mention the scores of partially fleshed out songs that no doubt exist. I know it'd never happen, but recording in 1/3 the time than SYW took could equal a much, much better album. Leave some edges jagged, don't overwork the initial product too much.

I have to say I felt that the Unleashed Tour 2009 was the last FM tour I know never give up on another tour. If stevie plans on doing a new cd she will tour solo next year. I can't see her make a new cd and tour with FM.

I doubt they would have the audacity to go back on the road again with the same exact setlist. Yes, the ten or so FM staples will anchor the set, especially towards the end. But I think the other ten songs will be a mixed bag. And who knows... maybe they will pull out a brand new song on us?? They realize the power of social media and its ability to spread information in real time. Nothing will stir up the fanbase more than the prospect of a new song that could be heard exclusively in concert. If they can't make money selling recordings of new music, they could certainly make money playing new music for paying concertgoers.
