Sad to find FOUR Stevie CD's in the $4.99 clearance bin at Best Buy yesterday. They were Bella Donna, Wild Heart, Rock a Little and Trouble In Shangri-La. Here's the weird thing: None of these CD's (except Trouble...) had the lyrics (like the old versions). They all just simply had the credits. The last time I ever saw a Stevie CD in the clearance bin was back in the mid to late 90's and that CD was Timespace.

BTW I did buy all four since my copies are pretty worn out. The first three CD's booklets do not have any pics inside just the credits...which is weird. Comparing the booklets to the originals it also appears they used cheaper paper. The CD itself looks identical to the original ones.

Tango was in walmart for 5.00 a couple of weeks ago but I didn't buy and I used to see Behind the Mask and Time (both CD and cassette) all the time in the late 90's.

I think CD's are coming to their end and this is just a way to push old stock....or if my dream would come true that this is just their way of pushing out old copies of Stevie's CD's to make room for new remastered ones (yeah I know I'm dreaming)...

I was in Walmart today at lunch looking for medicine for my banana plant, and saw one of those giant clearance bins of cds, too. Tango was laying right on the top. If I'd had some time, I would have dug around to see what else I could find, but alas, I did not.

It probably will be still be there tomorrow. If I have time.I usually try to put what I would buy and hide them deep in the pile.I'll go back the next day with the cash and buy the cd/dvd's.I hope your banana plant will get better.

I'm so jealous! I've been trying to find Rock a Little on CD for a looong time! I bought it on vinyl and transferred it to CD, but I'm still curious as to how the CD sounds.

Rock A Little was re-released on CD format on March 21, 2011. You can buy it via Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/Rock-Little-Stevie-Nicks/dp/B000002JL4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1339080212&sr=8-2).
Not sure searching brick and mortar stores would stock this.

It's no secret Wal-Mart and Best Buy are devoting less and less store space for music and movies. Which is sad. The new Wal-Mart store in my city has one short aisle for CDs.
BTW, who (besides the Beatles and MJ) isn't in the clerance bin nowadays?

More sad than the fall of SN into the clearance bins of a WalMart is the lack of music in stores to browse. Like a couple of you have said, cd's are coming to a close. I just recall the days of spending my allowance money in a Tower Records, and looking thru all the vinyl bins, tape shelves. Seeing all the posters in the wall. All the magazines for sale, etc. I know I've waxed poetic frequently about record shopping days-but damnit it's true. Even CD days-for a period of time. K-Mart had a pretty impressive muic section, complete w/ Imports. I scored a few posters from them, and promo stuff-non Nicks, but it's those things that are missed as well.
Yea, it's cool-streaming-YouTube, Pandora etc, but as an adult, I still spend all my allowance money in a record store-just not the big chains anymore. The little shops that work double time to stay in business.

Earlier this year Best Buy and Target began stocking a huge selection of $4.99 - $5.99 CD's. The reason for this was to try and boost the lagging sales of CD's. So what they did was take "classic artists" and put their classic albums out there. The record labels partnered on this as well, they are still losing money but they hope to make SOMETHING by doing this.
I saw Stevie's CD's in the bin at my local Best Buy, I just thought it was great to see her CD's in stores again. I haven't seen a new copy of "The Wild Heart" or "Rock A Little" in stores in eons. "Tango In The Night" is also in the Best Buy bins. I still haven't seen a new "Mirage" in stores almost since it was first re-issued on CD back in the '80's.
So it's not a slam against Stevie for her albums to be in the bargain bins, it's actually a push to sell the titles.

More sad than the fall of SN into the clearance bins of a WalMart is the lack of music in stores to browse. That's what I miss most of all, and the situation is becoming more dire for us CD and DVD browsers by the day. I drove over to a Barnes & Noble the other day, hoping I could spend the afternoon browsing the classical music CDs and DVDs. But B&N got rid of its music and movies. I can't believe it!
Am I stuck buying only through Amazon? That's fine for what it is. But sometimes I want to browse, not perform web searches.

But aren't you browsing on the net just the same?
Maybe I am just so used to it, but the feeling is the same when I window-shop on the net as opposed to a mall or physical store. I no longer enjoy malls.....the crowds, parking and searching for items that are so much easier to search for online.
To each his own I guess.

Just in my local K-Mart last week, and all of the CD's are gone, save for one end-cap. :distress:

You can find music stores to browse in, but it's not going to be the chains any more. Not BN, or Best Buy or Target or Wal*Mart.

Not to mention the record store conversations.
I made a great many friends over the years.
K-Mart was where I bought my first Elvis album
40 years ago. My mom gave me a choice. A toy
gun or Elvis - Burning Love And Hits From His Movies
Volume 2. I chose Elvis. Within a year I could have
bought Buckingham Nicks "new", had I only known.

I was only 11 when B/N was released. My late sister was a big Elvis fan.Back then we had a couple of record stores.Cutlers in New Haven,Merles Record Rack and The Music Box in Hamden CT back in the early 1970's.The local mall had a record store .I think the name was Record Town.
Plus we had Caldor's,Bradlee's,Woolco,Sears,Barkers .Kings,Stars, and Kmart dept stores in the area with lots of discount record bins.In 1975 my neighbor opened up a record store.I shop there with a deep discount.he closed up 6 years later just before Stevie's BD album was released. If he was still in business in the 1980's he probably give me all the Stevie promo stuff that he would of hanged up in his store.
Walmart came to town in the mid 1990's with loads of CD's compared to what they have now. They killed off Kmart plus Merles Record Rack.
Over the years we have or had small used CD shops in town.Once in the while I pop in to check and see what they got.One time I picked up a B/N boot CD at the CD shop.
The fleamarket is a great place to find used CD's and records. If I see Stevie/FM cd's at the fleamarket.I get them and use them and I wont use my good copies to play in the cd player.

Sometimes I really wish I lived in US. It gets on my nerves that in Poland I have to buy Stevie's albums as overpriced Imports. I spent fortune to get my hands on "Rock a Little" (of course it was worth it) and "Street Angel". And you guys in US you have so many possibilities...re-editions, CD bins and things like that...I would kill to see Stevie's albums on the shelf in music shop in a town where I live:D
