I love How Still My Love and Golden Braid. I'm not really sure why this song wasn't on The Wild Heart or Rock a Little, really good song.

Rhiannon live on the Midnight Special, if I could only show one performance to someone who had no idea who Stevie Nicks was, I'd show them that. It's everything Stevie.

1. Sisters- Mirage Video (I'm generally someone who doesnt like what you would call the most commercial live version of a song. I usually believe there is some random version out there better then the few versions that live pn forever like Rhiannon Midnight special i consider subpar to other rhiannons BUT it just does not get any better then the perfection that it is the sisters of the moon from the mirage video. everr mother f-ing aspect from the obvious Stevie tounges to the subtleness of Chritstine playing the piano like shes having sex or just had it, the lindsey john chase down thing. Lindsey playing guitar asleep on Stevie. Mick

2. How Still My Love 4/15/86

3. Rhiannon live Largo 1978

4. Rhiannon- LA August 1977.

5. Edge of 17 That show she did with Lindsey in 1986

6. Edge of 17 Turning Stone 6/17/07

7. Gold Dust Woman- Live in Wembley 2009 Most of Stevie's songs live performances peaked sometime in the 1970's or 80's, but I'm being 100 percent holnest when I say Gold Dust Woman has just kept getting better every tour. I thought maybe soundstage was the highlight but then the unleashed tour blew that away.

8. Silver Springs- The Dance

9. Stand Back- Woodstock 98

10. Stand Back- SNL

11.Storms Rochester 2009

12. Fall From Grace- Wiltern

13. Soldiers Angel- Sturgis

Hi all,

Im relatively new to Fleetwood mac and Stevie (as I was only born in 1987- but you can't blame me for that :o ) but I have recently purchased quite a lot of vinyl and I am wondering whether anyone knows where I can get Fleetwood Mac- Stand back (1987 live version during the Tango in the night tour) on vinyl?

I have heard that the 25 years- the chain boxset (CD) has the 1987 version but I would really like it on vinyl. I've mentioned vinyl 3 times here..maybe I'm becoming an addict!?

To show you why I want the 1987 live version...

The original (still amazing)

Welcome Longview!
It's always nice to see someone new to Stevie and the Mac.
I haven't watched that 1987 footage in ages. I remember loving it too. Unfortunately, I think it's become an example of some of Stevie's 1980's mistakes: all close-up, all the time (the hair doesn't even match the long shots), overdubbed and enhanced vocals (she sounds like Robo-Stevie), and she doesn't even spin!!!

A much better live performance captured on film is very recent, her Standback from Soundstage is brilliant:

I think in a lot of cases the first version of a song we really fall in love with is the one that sticks with us. A lot of long time Stevie fans aren't so crazy about the Tango era live Stand Back but for Longview it might be the recording they really got into.

I love the Fleetwood Mac Live version of Rhiannon. As much as everyone touts the Rosebud footage or the Midnight Special appearance it was this Tusk era recording that really hit me like a ton of bricks. And to this day it still gives me goosebumps. And there is just something about that time weathered vocal, not quite so high and youthful yet not at the point where they had to rework the arrangement. It's so full of power. And the way she sings the "Once in a million" chorus with a slightly different melody than before gives it a little more depth and color. And when she reaches the crescendo towards the end with "all the same, all the same, Rhiannon" is less like a storm and more like a full on monsoon. It's just so amazing.

So true on both counts. I too loved the Tango Standback for a long time. As I got introduced to better stuff, that changed.
As for the Live album Rhiannon...I still love it, for 'all the same' reasons you do.

sorry to nitpick but it is a Rumours era Rhiannon that is on the Fleetwoood Mac Live album .I do agree that it is a great version.I also prefer the version of Sara from this album to some of the later ones.So glad I had the chance see them on the Tusk tour..their peak as a live band IMHO.

A little off topic, but I love "Lola" from this show as well . Much more rocking than the studio version.

:thumbsup:I think Mama knocked it out of the dance hall at the recording of the Buddy Holly: Listen To Me concert. Its So Easy & Not Fade Away both rocked. I loved the sexy 'Growl', the attitude...she was feeling sassy and she looked and sounded :eek:fantastic.

I have a question? She has done a lot of great live performances of her Fleetwood Mac songs. Solo - I"m a bit disappointed. I really love what she did with How Still My Love from Soundstage and its my favorite song on the CD and I think one of the best things she has done as Solo artist. I also liked the Soundstage version of Beauty of the Beast. The rest of the album did not feel unplugged to me and I didn't appreciate the covers on a 10 song CD.

I was wondering about other great live version of solo songs. Did she ever do Outside the Rain without it turning into Dreams. Can't seem to find a version. Are there some great extended versions of Rooms on Fire, The Wild Heart, Talk to Me... Any suprises? Did she stop experimenting with her later work? I"m not as familiar with live stuff.

When I go to a concert I don't want to hear what is on the radio. I want these songs to be extended and morph. She is all about atmosphere. I would like her to take some of her atmospheric work and make them better with extended versions. I would hope that she would do something with some In Your Dreams songs. I think she could do something really with Italian Summer.
