I've always thought an album of duets would be a natural project for Stevie....I'd love to see a mix of past partners as well as new! Some cool pairs (for me!) would include:

TOM PETTY
SHERYL CROW
DON HENLEY

RAY DAVIES
MARTHA DAVIS
INXS
ANN & NANCY WILSON
COLLECTIVE SOUL
AIMEE MANN
ADAM LEVINE
PINK
KEITH ANDERSON

Who would YOU pick???

I have huge love for Aimee...but I see no chemistry between her and Stevie. But I think Stevie and Jackson Brown would have an amazing chemistry. I think she would do well with someone from her own generation. Pairing her with someone much younger is too much of a stretch. And, for me it's not as interesting to have her duet with another female singer as it would be with a male singer. David Bowie and Sting would also be fitting. Robert Plant? A male country singer would be good - John Denver perhaps, but he is dead! I just think that a male counterpart would have more impact...and make the music more meaty! Most of her solo material is sung with female singers. Another Lillith Fair-female fest-type thing isn't appealing to me. Stevie's best duets are with men.

Hmmmm.....duets sure can be fun and here are a few I'd like to see duet with Stevie.

David Bowie
Grant-Lee Phillips
Deborah Harry
Joan Jett
Ann & Nancy Wilson (as mentioned earlier)
Brandon Flowers
Adele
Darius Rucker
Richard Ashcroft
Natalie Merchant
Sting
Michael Franti

On Edit:
Bjork

George Strait

Though I've never been a fan,
George Strait would give her
a guaranteed hit. Good idea Macfan.

I like Dodfather's suggestion of Rosanne
Cash too.

The only two "Duets" albums I want from Stevie are...An entire Stevie with Tom Petty & The heartbreakers record & a new Buckingham/Nicks record.
That's not asking for much is it seeing as they are both long overdue.

Again, I always thought Stevie's mature voice would sound great with Cat Stevens's.
I'd like to hear her with John Mellencamp, and of course Chris Isaak is always great with her. And yesterday I had the thought that a duet with Lenny Kravitz might be very interesting.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who loves the goth side of Stevie. I mean, look at Gold Dust Woman, Sisters of the Moon, Rhiannon (the live version). I would so love to see Forest of the Black Roses reworked by Trent Reznor. In fact, given the beauty of A Warm Place I could even see him doing something really exquisite with Three Birds.

Oh, he is delicious. I am so jealous of Santana's Smooth. He and Stevie could do something great.

Plus, I think Matchbox's version of NGBA literally interprets the lyrics. Obviously, Lindsey's version is great, but it doesn't convey what Lindsey himself says the song is about. He says that after a down period, he met someone and experienced joy and lightness and decided he was never going back to his sadness again. Yet, the way he sings it, that's not exactly what it feels like the song is about.

Matchbox 20's cover speaks of a torturous relationship and sounds like they are never going back to that pain again. Lindsey's version doesn't inhabit the hurt. I like their darkness.

Lately I've been listening to Daryl Hall a lot and think that their voices would blend perfectly. I read somewhere that Stevie intended to record "Bombay Sapphires" with Sting but she didn't have much courage to call him and tell him about her idea.

More proof that she sounds great with ANY ONE.....and an album of duets would be KILLER!!!
