I don't tend to watch much television. But I do like :-
* Boston Legal (Denny Crane! Alan Shore is dreamy in a bewildering sort of way)
* Any TV show with Rupert Everett involved (I'm a pair of binoculars and a bush away from stalker, lol)
* Old Grey Whistle Test
* Blackadder
* Black Books
* I used to really love House Md, but I kind of lost the thread :s
* The IT Crowd
* Spaced
* Porridge
* Buffy The Vampire Slayer! (Giles. Need I say anymore?)
* Star Trek (Next Generation and Voyager. Deep Space Nine is a turd of the highest order. I cannot stress this enough. If I were on that space station I would open a gas line and light a bloody match, just to save the audience. Can you sense the contempt I have for this show?)
* That Mitchell And Webb Look
* Documentaries (I particularly love programs on Greek history and Mythology)

I like to watch DDD too but recently read somewhere where Guy Fiari or whatever who does the show, has his people go in beforehand and check out the diner owners because he is extremely homophobic and won't be around gays. Now I don't know if this is true or not but if it is, he's in the wrong business because gays are everywhere in TV land. Also hard to believe too because if he is in fact this way, you'd think it'd be hard for him to avoid such people given all of the shows he does on both TV and cable and you just know someone in the production crew is gay. So, I don't know...

Big faves:
SONS OF ANARCHY - I haven't been so hooked on a show in ages. I marathoned the first four seasons in less than two weeks. So gritty, amazing writing, awesome characters and a subject matter I never would have thought I'd find so fascinating. Can't wait for the next season!
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS - Anyone who thinks television isn't "good" anymore has never seen this show. One of the best written, directed and executed television shows I've ever seen. I felt I knew the characters and I cried when it ended because I would never get to see them again.
ER - Old favorite! Still love to watch eps now and then.
THE WEST WING - I'm finally starting this now and adoring it. It's another show where the writing and characters are so strong that it's hard to believe you're watching fiction. I feel like I learn a lot too!
REVENGE - An awesome evening soap with high drama and intriguing storyline. Wealth and murder and revenge, oh my.
Other faves:
Lost
Modern Family
Downtown Abbey
Weeds
Big Bang Theory

I don't watch much regular TV but mostly cable shows.
*I do like Price Is Right
*House Hunters on HGTV (who knew some people still live in outdated 30 year old decor)
*Property Virgins on HGTV
*The Vanilla Ice Project on DIY (I love to see what he does to Florida homes inside and out)
*How To Do Florida on Sun Sports Channel (because I think host Chad Crawford with his salt n pepper hair is too cute and funny to watch)
*Bath Crashers with Matt Muenster on DIY (because I adore him and think he's the sexiest handyman ever)
*Celebrity Ghost Stories
*I Survived... Beyond and Back (glad someone mentioned one of these earlier, what I find fascinating about both of these shows is how so many of different peoples experiences, and I know some quickly dismiss her, but so much of what many talk about are the very same things Sylvia Browne has talked about in her books all these years. I think you have to listen to people and make sense of it all. It's interesting no doubt)
*True Blood on HBO (because I love the show)

I saw the entire 1st season of "Dexter", thought it was great, but saw it when I was out of town & didn't have Showtime at home...now I have Showtime, but after missing 5 seasons, just didn't think I could catch up.
Watched "Fringe" when I had a DVR to record shows that were on simultaneously, but after relocating, I no longer have a DVR, missed so much I'll never catch up, unless I spring for the DVD set...much to my ongoing chagrin.

The West Wing
Threshold
Monk
Nip/Tuck (first season only...got too goofy after that)

The Office
I never really took to the UK version of The Office. Maybe because I have a profound hatred for arrogance, and Ricky Gervais secreted it from every pore in his body. Is the US version any better? I've been hearing good things about James Spader's contribution to the show. Is he as good an addition as I hear?

I loved the UK version, but for Tim and Dawn rather than David Brent. I enjoy most Gervais projects, and I have a crush on Stephen Merchant, but that's another story.
The U.S. version was great for the first three seasons. After that it's been pretty hit or miss. I'm not really enjoying James Spader, personally.

I am watching this series from start to finish. I am in the middle of the 3rd season right now. I love it! I grew up in small town Texas and it's like they filmed this in my high school. So I have to say, this show is very authentic. AND they filmed the series in Austin which was my home for the last 10 years so I get to see a lot of the old haunts. Great show!

I don't watch a lot of TV - maybe 5-8 hours per week at the most, less than that normally. Most of the TV I watch is right before bed - History, Investigation Discovery and National Geographic are the channels I usually watch. I love crime documentaries and anything about science, history and space.
However - I do watch some less-than-educational programming from time to time, and I have to admit that when I do, I enjoy some of the worst TV out there.
Jersey Shore
Dance Moms (this is seriously entertaining)
Hell's Kitchen
Every now and then I catch an episode of New Girl (with Zooey Deschanel).
I watched some of American Horror Story...but lost interest about half-way through. I just can't commit to an entire season of anything.
TV involves too much lethargy for me to put much time into it. I use it to put myself to sleep or to waste time. There's almost always something I'd rather do - cooking, cleaning, gaming, walking, gardening, laundry, intense political discussions or philosophical debates about love, spirituality and the meaning of life with friends, social media like The Ledge. I like to always have something next on my list.

The Golden Girls will probably always be my favorite show of all time.
Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory are two of the funniest things I've ever seen.

I am a few episodes into season 2 now. I only had the season 1 DVDs at first and with that finale, I actually downloaded the first season 2 ep to see what ended up happening! But I have the rest of the season's available to me now (yay for that big huge box set!) and I am soo hooked! I don't know what took me so long to get to watching it, but I would like to thank Rob Lowe and his autobiography for the final push that got me there.

It's crazy but I actually remember certain plot points from when they happened. I had friends who watched the show plus certain things were just SO big that I recall them being mentioned a lot, so there are some things I KNOW are coming and just don't know when! Especially one huge one that I know is a long way off but I know is going to shatter me when it comes.
Love a lot of shows, but utterly addicted to this one right now:

I started watching American Horror Story this weekend at the urging of a Mac fan. I watched the whole first season and am now half done with Season 2 (which is airing now, I believe).
It's fun.
I don't know if "favourites", but I watch (and I've watched) some good shows!
- Pawn Stars
- UFO Hunters
- Ice Road Truckers
- The Simpsons ("first" 12 seasons, when show had sense)

- Bones
- The Vampire Diaries (just some episodes, I'm discovering it)
- Mad About You
- The Nanny
- Tom & Jerry
- Dragon Ball Z (it marked the childhood of many children!!)
- some biographic shows and obviously VH1 with its 80s special.
Programming here is different, and the shows that require dubbing are transmitted very late...

COMMUNITY, anyone?
I've been in love with this show for 2 years now, and i'm currently rewatching all the episodes. It's funny, smart, NEVER boring, and there are plenty of classic movie/tv show references.
I HIGHLY recommend it. It's one of the few american shows that i think is up there, in terms of humour, with the british comedies.
I also like How i met your mother (though it's becoming reaaally boring), and my favorite show of all-time must be The X-files (thanks to the ledge, because it's everyone's favorite here, and that's how i started to watch it).

Addicted too! And i'm never addicted anymore, so this exception says a lot! It's brilliant. And i can't wait, though i'm kind of worried because Dan Harmon was fired...i'm afraid it will get more conventional from now on.

Addicted too! And i'm never addicted anymore, so this exception says a lot! It's brilliant. And i can't wait, though i'm kind of worried because Dan Harmon was fired...i'm afraid it will get more conventional from now on.
I'm a bit worried too. Especially now that Chevy Chase has left the show as well. I guess we have to wait and see what happens.

Not to skew off topic but the Dick Clarks Rock n Eve is coming up next week.I've been watching it since the 1970's .Fleetwood Mac made it on show.I cant recall what year that was and also find a clip on Youtube .I got it on VHS somewhere.I wish Stevie got on the show back in the 1980's.
I will miss Dick Clark on the show .Ryan Seacrest will take it over and run it for the next 40 years.

Ok, update of my post from about a year or so ago:
I've found a new cable channel that I'm just hooked on...Mhz World View. They show some cool detective shows from Europe...with English subtitles.

Don Matteo (an Italian priest who help police solve crimes)
Blood Of The Vine (a French enologist...that's "wine maker" to you & me -I had to look up that one  ... who solves crimes)
Detective Montalbano (a Sicilian "who dunit")
Maigret (based on a character by Belgian crime writer Georges Simenon)

Oh, Community is great, Becca! Check it out for sure. But it's not for everyone. Every episode always gives me the feeling that it was all written just for me... Which is probably why its ratings have always been terrible. ;) People seem to either really love it, or not get into it at all.
I haven't yet watched any of this season (well, "season 7 part 2") of Who. But it does seem to be getting a mixed reception. :( Hmmm. I'm pretty confident I'll enjoy at least some of it, though. It's always kind of been a patchy affair, for me, but I enjoy taking the good with the bad.

I wish I could get HBO, but they say you can't have everything. :(
I saw a couple Toy Hunters, but it mostly makes me feel bad about how I don't have many of my old toys anymore, and certainly not mint in their original boxes!
I remember seeing Carroll O'Connor on an old Wild Wild West episode and he was a very smart villain type, and nothing like Archie Bunker. My respect for his acting went through the roof where it already was for Jean Stapleton.
Lately I've been watching some old British shows on DVD...
I just got The Owl Service and Ace Of Wands, a couple of '70s fantasy type shows aimed at teenage and up. Very high quality. I'm going to savor them an episode at a time. Now if they'd only release the original Phoenix & the Carpet series (not the movie version).
'Dave Allen At Large' is another one. I loved how this Irish comedian always closed with 'good night, and may your God go with you'. He was also very good looking I thought as well as funny.
Oh, and have been playing a few Peter Cook comedy vinyl records of old tv performances. His Mr. Wisty stuff is a real tonic for me! Probably due to a secret desire to dominate the world in the name of spindly and spotty invisible people who study tadpoles in gossamer trench coats. That will make no sense to the uninitiated. :p

Netflix is a godsend to those of us that don't really care about a show, but might give it a shot if it's on Netflix. As a result of NF, I have binge watched:
Weeds
Breaking Bad
Battlestar Galactica
Sons Of Anarchy
Fringe (re-watched and all caught up)
Orange Is The New Black
House Of Cards
(some other lame-o horror'ish made for Netflix series. Kinda Twilight'y. God awful!)
That's all I can think of right now. I've a mind to start Mad Men next which I have heard a lot about. Now the deal is...HOLY HELL there is a LOT of well made TV shows out there lately! I mean w/ the exception of Weeds & BSG...<lots of kitsch...still good but fluffy> these shows are meaty, engaging and all around amazing. Most if not all aren't my cup of tea, but I'm amazed at how much I liked them and truly binge watched them all. Also if I do get into a show, I HATE waiting for the next episode.
Prior shows that I thought were engaging and well made:
24 (what I thought would be annoying as hell was instead my racing heartbeat. DAMN)
X-Files (so amazing while it lasted. Someone said it never should have been cancelled-I think it just could have spun off, but as Mulder & Scully dropped off, it had to go-sad as I was about it)
Twin Peaks (break-thru in TV off beat...biased Lynch fan)
hmm, many others but so much is good and fun, so few enduring imo. Nip/Tuck for example-awesome, now, meh.
Oh, and for those who have passed on Breaking Bad-I SO WASN'T INTERESTED, but now that I've seen it...run, RUN to the TV to view!!! lol

Community is awesome, and totally suited to binge-watching. Glad you've enjoyed it. :) I agree it's a very difficult show to just sort of "pick up and watch" without getting to know the characters over a period. Which I think is one of the main reasons the show has struggled to garner ratings.

My TV watching has been cut back significantly (mainly because of the channels I USED to watch a LOT..."H2", "NatGeo", "NatGeoWild", etc, I don't have access to anymore)...so, it's pretty much down to:
Criminal Minds (now that it is in syndication, I think I've seen every episode about 3 or 4 times...I really enjoy when I can watch a NEW episode in the current season)
NCIS (catching up on the "Kate" era (Sasha Alexander)...I didn't start watching until Zeva was already well entrenched)
NCIS: LA
Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives (the more I watch, the less "special" the places are becoming...seems like everybody cooks the pork & beef exactly the same...it's just what they do with it AFTER it's prepared. STILL, though, I want to patronize every place that's been featured. Especially, the gourmet trucks!)

Yes, that's a great episode. I think my favorite is the dice-throw, alternate realities episode. I nearly fell out of bed laughing.
In addition to the shifting tones/styles of each episode, I think also it's hard to realize there is a tenderness to the show--plus I'm a sucker for unrequited love and the Annie/Jeffrey chemistry is sizzling. That non-couple has the best t*ts on tv.
