Since we are going to have to wait awhile for this to be realized. If you we're going to make a movie...What Stevie stories would you like to see portrayed on the big screen...What would you title the movie and who would play the main parts (Stevie, Lindsey, Chris, John, Mick, etc?)

The chick playing Stevie would have to be good, definitely. Some just some blonde girl who can't act. Someone awesome.

I've heard during the RAL tour she fell off stage and got bloody noses a few times because of the cocaine. I would definitely want this to be in there to show just how bad her coke use got, given that these events really did happen. I would also want the whole scene at Christine's house during Tango where Lindsey left the band in it.

I've always thought Ellie Goulding has a look of Stevie, but their voices aren't similar at all, plus I don't know whether Ellie can act, so maybe not such a great choice?!

And Cate Blanchett would make a great Christine...

With Ian Sommerhalder as Lindsey

I'd love to see the TITN arguement at Christine's house too and the whole Tusk era would be pretty intense.

That movie would be amazing!!! I agree that the TITN incident should be included for sure. I'd also include the time Stevie and Christine were living in the same condos during the Rumours sessions and all of the tension within the band. The Tusk tour would be great, as would the Mick/Henley relationships. I think the 90s would be a great climax (rehab, Lindsey stuff, reuniting the band). Little stories from Stevie's touring band during WWD and the Wild Heart would be nice too.

I agree, there are so many scenes that would set the screen on fire, but Stevie doesn't want her worst moments up on the silver screen. I think now that she has been clean for 17, 18 years and is her 60's it only embarrasses her more and more. She has been so honest about her drug additions. I wish there was some way to do a movie like the way she wants to write her memoirs (the best days/events of her life). I also know there's not a snowballs chance in hell that they could leave all the "good ****" out. Her life has been so, so Lived. I would hate if the movie was made and she hated it and/or it hurt her in any way. There is nothing they could put on screen true or untrue that would change my feelings for her, I love her unconditionally...

I'm sure any movie that gets made about Stevie will stick to the earlier, sexier stuff -- moving to LA with Lindsey, Buckingham Nicks, joining Fleetwood Mac, Rumours, maybe the start of her solo career. But to me, the most interesting part of her life, and the most interesting stuff about her as a person, was during the tail end of her Klonopin addiction, through Street Angel, to "Twisted" and The Dance and Trouble in Shangri-La. That's what I would want to see a movie about.

While the events in the history and lives of Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks are surely rich fodder for an movie drama, in lesser hands a cinematic rendering could turn out to be really cheesy bad, and look like Spinal Tap. I can't see it being anything more than a sensationalized parody. Fleetwood Mac's legacy would not benefit from it.

I rather have a book about Stevie - but not her own. I don't think we'd get much more than what we already know. It would be written in Stevie's myopic perspective.

Stephen Davis just wrote Carly Simon's biography, with some of Carly's input, but she had no control in what was ultimately published. She was not happy with it because she felt too exposed. Because the author did the work, it was authentic, accurate and academic. I'm looking forward to reading it.

He has written several lauded books about other artists. Led Zeppelin comes to mind. I read an article about him. He emphatically stated several times that he wants to write a book about Stevie. He said his publisher said something to the effect of "no, not yet." The article ended with him saying "But I really want to do a book on Stevie Nicks."

That's the book I want to read. Then a movie might possibly be made...based on that book.

I think hey would have to find a talented and fitting unknown to play Stevie. The only well known actress whO I personally think could have pulled her off would have been Brittany Murphy and she is sadly nO lOnger wIth us.

Definitely Cate Blanchett for Christine. Adrien Brody looks a lot like John but he is much too tall so idk. And Mick and Lindsey..... Have to think about it more.

A few things I'd like to see realized on the screen (among many others):
The high school party where S and L met.
Coffee plant life.
Mick being played BN as a way to show off a potential recording studio.
Christine and Stevie meeting for the first time.
Her reaction when women first started to come to FM shows with her 'look'.
Mick's reaction to Belladonna being recorded.
A show-must-go-on moment; when she wasn't at her best; or when she was feeling 'too good'.
The infamous Tango Tour meeting.
Coming out of the fog of Klonopin.

^Mac, it makes better sense cohesively for a movie, I think.

FM biopic would probably be inevitably titled Rumours.

There's this girl on the TV show RINGER, who is a dead...um ringer for a young stevie. Her name is Zoey Deutch (and she's Leah Thompson's daughter) It freaks me out sometimes how similar they look. She even has her voice... soft and raspy. you might not see it in these pics, but to me she has the college to Buckingham Nicks era down pat!

I agree with this. I"d rather have a really good book about Stevie with all the juicy deets :-).

As far as biopic, of course I'd be interested in both but I think just one on Stevie would be more interesting. Whenever it's a group thing a lot of details get over looked or glossed over because they have to cram everything about every band member into a short amout of time.

I would like to see them shooting the Tusk doc and have the actress do the infamous "coffee's making" bit. I loved in the Grey Gardens movie when they re-enacted bits from the documentary but then showed parts around what we've seen onscreen so many times. I think it would also be cool to see a bit of the Belladonna photo shoot where she starts singing Wild Heart. Would be neat to see a director's vision of how that moment transpired given it's popularity on YouTube. Plus, if the actress has a good voice and a passion for doing Stevie justice it would be a great moment.

I don't think it would be possible to do a movie about Fleetwood Mac. Movies are too short and there is far too much material. If anything it would need to be a miniseries. There is no way you could fit all the incidents into a two or even three hour script. You might be able to do the Rumours era as a movie. Might. In terms of a script and the way a film is constructed it would have to be so carefully done. There has to be a beginning, middle and end. Frankly, there is no end with the Rumours era. What would it be? The Grammy show? Trying to do a movie spanning twenty years would leave out so much. I can't see it playing and having enough of a through line. You'd lose so much background and so much back story. Not enough viewers would know it innately. You would have to do tons of exposition.

It would never ever happen, but I could see story wise being able to pull off an entire three or even four season series called something like "Dreams - The Stevie Nicks Chronicles." First season could be 73-80. Second season 81-94. Third season from 95 to present. Another beyond that, if the present is any indication. There is no lack of material in terms of drama. But it kind of requires a dramatic, triumphant ending. Something like what would have happened if IYD had spawned 3 huge singles or she pulled a Bonnie Raitt style Grammy trick. The last year has made me think she has much more great stuff in her, so that year may be coming. The thing with Steve is, I think she will utterly tour until she drops. So there will not be some big hurrah send off. Stevie will never stop performing, and her huge industry blow out bash and honors are yet to come. She has risen from the ashes so many times that you never know what she will do next. She has become a bit unpredictable in her dotage. And still writes great songs and looks like a million bucks.

The real problem with ALL of this is music rights and clearances. Can you imagine? Paying her and Lindsey? Christine sold her catalogue but I'm sure it doesn't come cheap. Not only would it cost millions of dollars, but in order to do it well one would need the blessing of the lady herself or, if the circumstances require, the permission of her estate. I don't see it happening in the next twenty years. Those wheels turn so slowly. But, at some point in time, the entire story could be on the level of the best shows ever made. It would be just as interesting as a show about Madonna or Elvis.
Neither of them could be summed up in a 2 hour movie.

Maybe I just know too much about Stevie and the band, but a movie for me would not cut it. There are simply too many stories. And where Stevie is concerned, too much drama. The story should either be a 12 hour 6 part miniseries, or better yet, a 3-4 season show. Preferably funded by the BBC and Canal Films. IMO it could be really great art, but probably has to wait until all the players are long gone. The whole thing is too damned complex to even ponder. It is a miracle that any film or show ever gets made. Let alone one that has a soundtrack written by 3 living people with wildly divergent interests and agendas. And extremely expensive music rights.

OooMissionary

I think that it would be nearly impossible to accurately do a film about Stevie's entire life. A mini-series for HBO or Showtime, however, could be quite great.

I would break up her life into a 4-part mini-series as so:

Birth-1975

1975-1978

1978-1985

1985-present

The only thing that could work movie-wise would be a biopic of Fleetwood Mac, with the focus solely on the Rumours era. High drama all within a couple of years.

David

The story should either be a 12 hour 6 part miniseries, or better yet, a 3-4 season show. It's hard for me to believe there'd be enough of an audience for such a thing. But then again, somebody took Loretta Lynn & made "Coal Miner's Daughter" for a mass audience; & somebody else took the Ike & Tina Turner story & turned that into an Oscar-winning movie, too. So I guess these things can & do happen. ("Beyond the Sea" came & went without any frenzy, but "Ray" pleased nearly everybody. It's hard to predict which musical biopics will make it.)

IMO it could be really great artWhat would surprise me less is if such a movie or miniseries was not a great work of art but a stupid & crass treatment of Buckingham-Nicks as Scarlett & Rhett Kardashian. It's the Age of Unreal Reality TV, after all. (The reality TV shows are probably going to bury the new "Dallas" this year.) If the members of Fleetwood Mac spent more time around one another, a reality TV show of their little pisses & spats might draw the viewers.

My question: Would Stevie's momentous trip to Chile in 1980-81, cementing her decision to release "Bella Donna," make an interesting little after-hours movie?

Oh, come in and weigh in on the Dennis Wilson movie down below. Also, since the actress is a classically trained pianist, you have to go see the movie and offer your musical commentary.

I'd also like to some Tom Petty scenes, when she asks to join the Heartbreakers and "the conversation" over dinner when he tells her she is capable of writing her own songs for TISL.
The klonopin days when she falls and hits her head on the fireplace ledge and starts to realize that the drug is killing her; and then having her assistant take her klonopin dosage and nearly overdoses.
Something with Sheryl, maybe the story behind the rumors of her joining FM and then it not happening (did Sheryl really rethink her decision or did Lindsey or Mick veto it?)
And also a scene of one of the many infamous parties at Stevies house in the 80s.

If they were going to do a Fleetwood Mac movie, I would bet that it would most likely be centered around the Rumours gang. I could see it starting with the failure of the Buckingham Nicks album and their subsequent drop from the label and Bob Welch's departure from FM, and then ending perhaps with The Dance, which comes full circle and in theory shows everyone at peace with each other. Of course, we know that's not the end with Stevie/Lindsey/Mick/John but it's the end of the Rumours era technically speaking as it was Christine's last hoorah. And then obviously the movie would encompass everything (well, not everything, but whatever pieces are cohesive enough and interesting enough) in between.

Yes, she does and she is played by Vera Farmiga. Why don't you come down to the Christine forum and talk to us about it? We are very excited.

Also, since the woman is probably going to do her own piano playing in the film, that means you have to go see it and return and talk about it here.
