Rock music will never die. It simply changes its form to suit the era.

Some reason I think rock is fading way.Due to the glut of rap-hip-hop dance craze glut plus the teeny bopper tunes glut on the charts.I wish rock had more infleunce on the charts these days and have more respect for their elders.times changed.

Somehow Rock music is in retreat but I guess it will survive. On the surface there's only Hip Hip and all kinds of dance/electronic music but when you start searching you might find many interesting Rock artists who perform their music in the underground scene.

Rock is dead in popular music, and on the charts yes. But rock will never die, and I actually prefer where rock is right now. There are some truly amazing rock bands out there, you just have to actually look for them.

See? I think rap/hip hop is the genre that's dead in it's tracks, not rock. I guess it's all on how we view the world.
I actually don't think rock is dead at all. It's just spreading out and taking all sorts of different forms right now. Folk oriented rock type music seems to be the dominant trend at the moment, and I'm loving the hell out of it. Look at acts such as Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon, Ray Lamontagne, Death Cab For Cutie, Avett Brothers, Ryan Adams, Bon Iver... I could go on and on. If you haven't heard any of these acts, you are truly missing out. I think they make music that's every bit as high quality as the classic era of rock/folk/singer songwriters (the mid 1960s through the mid 1980s). Their product is probably even brainier & more focused than some of the great bands of yore which we all love so much.
Let's not forget- in 1977 Fleetwood Mac itself was teeny bopper music. Beautiful, sometimes intelligent, multi layered, and high quality... but pop music nonetheless.

Louie - yet again I'm agreeing with every word. The wonderful thing about pop music is its fluidity and malleability. It is a many formed beast that shifts, shapes and changes with the times. It goes in cycles. I'm sure a certain Mr Buckingham could tell us more...
Great list of artists from Louie there, especially Ryan Adams. I've been a huge fan of his for years.
