Well, potentially a dog. A young black lab (approx 4 months) without a collar wandered onto our property last night right before, he was really thin but friendly so we gave him food and water and we brought him in the house to sleep for the night to stay warm. He's an absolute doll but he shows signs of being abused. Anyway, we are putting up signs today of course in case someone lost him. But if no one claims him then we are going to keep him.
We're calling him Nick for now. I keep adding an S on the end by accident lmao.
I also got a Blue Yeti USB condenser microphone to do recordings with, a rain jacket and rain coat, a basketball hoop and basketball, a lot of gift cards, and some candy and stuff.

Nothing material, which is exactly what I wanted.
But I got some messages right before bed, making me feel loved, appreciated, lucky, and hopeful for our future. And I wouldn't trade those, for a new car.
Seriously, though. Good sh*t.:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I forgot to mention in my pressie list that I got a BEAUTIFUL drawing of Lindsey from Bee.
I am going to get it framed straight after the New Year weekend!
Yay, a Bee original!!! :blob1:

Now that is really sweet that you rescued that dog. My dad had a yellow lab, Jack, who has since passed, but he was the nicest dog you could ever have; they are great dogs.
Speaking of dogs, my toy poodle, Bogart, got sick Friday. Got him into the vet; he has pancreatitis. He's on four different medicines. He's better now though, playing with his gifts from Santa, mostly his stuffed, squeaky ball.
As for what I got for Christmas, just junk. No, just kidding, stuff I asked for from my husband, too numerous to mention (he spent way too much on me, more on me than me him), but my favs are a parrot watch, GC to Barnes & Noble (so I can by books for my Color Nook), & peace sign shot glass because one can always use a few shots of something . Got some gifts from co-workers, mostly gift cards. My siblings & I don't usually exchange gifts (We give to the kids, nieces & nephews), but my one sister got me a Lucy music box. She's playing a flute. My sister told the clerk that this is my oldest sister (because I used to play the flute in high school). It is way cool.

I got some lovely presents from my family, a beautiful leather biker jacket, clothes, Storms (CAH's book), The Dance DVD and various other bits and pieces :D
From my grandma I got a Diana F+ mini (Charly please help, I've ruined four reels of film already  ) and gift cards and money from other family members.
I'm seeing more family tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it, if only I could figure out how to use that camera properly...

I hope you get to keep him or he ends up in a good home . I got a dog from a Rescue Centre 10 years ago who was found as a stray and has a broken tail, possibly a sign of abuse. It is heartbreaking to think of him being mistreated especially as he has turned out to be the most loving, cuddly dog you could wish for.
Now that is really sweet that you rescued that dog. My dad had a yellow lab, Jack, who has since passed, but he was the nicest dog you could ever have; they are great dogs.

Christmas was good this year, most of what I got was kitchen-related, but is exactly what I wanted! A strainer, grinder and slicer attachment set for my Kitchen-Aid mixer; a new set of pots/pans; some All-Clad measuring cups and spoons in odd sizes (like two-thirds, one-and-a-half, three-quarters) - and best of all - one of my own art projects was taken and professionally matted and framed. Oh - and a new stereo for my car!

It doesn't matter what Santa brought, even if our awareness of those less fortunate slipped because of excitement. The whole point of Christmas is a reason for us to get together with those nearest and dearest and spending the time with them that most of us lack during the rest of the year. You can't put a price tag on those silly memories that you cherish. Your Dad snoring his way through that one festive movie you watch every year religiously, or your sibling getting you into a headlock because they want the bigger piece of Christmas pudding. Okay. Maybe the last one was specific to me, lol. But we all have memories like that. And they'll last a hell of a lot longer than some silly toy or piece of "up to date" technology.

Exactly. Macfan, did you read mine? My family has stopped exchanging gifts, so I got nothing. Well, nothing MATERIAL. It was a fantastic Christmas, nonetheless. Maybe it's different, if people have actual needs....I can see how it would be. I'm only middle class, but I have everything I need. I don't need gloves, or underwear, or whatever.
Now if someone wanted to buy me a new car, that would be a different story!!!

Same here, Homer! I bought and received nothing this year in terms of gifts. The only thing we did was to fill one anothers stockings with junk (candy and such)... And I did buckle and send out about 30 Christmas cards in the post.

Yeah, I sent about 25 cards. My big mouthed aunt, 4 years ago, told everyone that ~I~ wished we didn't have to buy all those crappy $10-15 presents. We're on year 4 now, and most of them have thanked me, for instigating the no presents Christmas!

Yes, several times, especially the 2nd disc with the rough cuts and demos that didn't make the album. My favorites are the rough cut of "Oh Daddy" with more vocals from Stevie and the really good sounding demo to "Think About It", which of course later appeared on Bella Donna.
Its great having alternate takes of the same songs. It really does freshen up the album.

I only exchange gifts with my parents because I always go down to visit them, and I never show up and stay at someone's home empty-handed, holiday or not. That's just guest decorum rule No. 1! However, this year I showed up empty-handed because I was at a complete loss as to what a well-to-do retired couple in their 70s with no hobbies (is church considered a hobby?) or outside interests would need or want. I basically had to forage around the house for things that were outdated or worn, which was impossible to find; we actually played cards on one of my baby blankets- in mint condition. Finally, after some leading questions, I found out that their printer/scanner was not working, so I went out on Christmas Eve and bought a new wireless multifunction machine and spent Christmas day setting up their wireless network. Painful. They always give me a check in a card on birthdays and Christmas, which I have always refused to cash, but this year they got wise to me and handed me a plain envelope stuffed with $20s. Kinda tacky, but much harder to politely refuse in person.

Great! That sounds awesome. Think About It is one of my favorite SN songs, so that should be interesting.

I only exchange gifts with my parents because I always go down to visit them, and I never show up and stay at someone's home empty-handed, holiday or not. That's just guest decorum rule No. 1!
No matter who the host, I ALWAYS bring a dish, and a bottle of wine. Of course, the latter may unofficially be for my own benefit!:wavey:

However, this year I showed up empty-handed because I was at a complete loss as to what a well-to-do retired couple in their 70s with no hobbies (is church considered a hobby?) or outside interests would need or want. I basically had to forage around the house for things that were outdated or worn, which was impossible to find; we actually played cards on one of my baby blankets- in mint condition. This cracked me up- seriously.

Feeling utterly miserable, crappiest Christmas ever, all alone feeling sorry for myself, pathetic eh?
But I don't plan on feeling like this after today - tomorrow, gonna pick myself up, dust myself down, and start all over again, tra-la-la-la!
Hope everyone is having a fab time!
I know how you feel. My mom passed away five months ago and our family didn't have a christmas party this year. She was the thing that held our big family together. Now we are all adrift. Really ****TY Christmas.

Sorry to hear of your loss - life will become brighter again for you, try and look forward to the new year !
I've certainly picked myself up again since Christmas Day and am feeling much more optimistic and looking forward to a brand new year!

My father died in October when I was 17. That first Christmas was so painful. I really feel for anyone struggling with a loss during this time of year.
As far as gift exchange goes...I love it! Nothing extravagant, but I do love to give and receive gifts.

Yes. I love the get togethers with the family.Give love.My Dads health is not great he will be 80 next april I hope he will be seeing more Christmases .God willing. The meaning goes away.Too much commercialism. After the lost of my mom and sister .the holiday is not the same.Mom and my late sister were the leaders of putting things together. We make best of it now.
