.
The Carpenters all of their holiday works.

Bing Crosby - White Christmas

Gene Autry- Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer I got the original 78 rpm somewhere

Band Aid " Do They Know It's Christmas" 1984 version Does anybody know why Stevie never got invited for this recording. Or she was invited .What happen. I like the 1989 version .but the 2004 version was not that great due to the artist selection.

Every year I listen to the same Christmas albums and these are:

1. Amy Grant-Home For Christmas (I think her voice is perfect for these Christmas tunes)
2. Diana Ross-A Very Special Season (classic diva sings classic Christmas songs and does it in a very elegant manner)
3. Gloria Estefan-Christmas Through Your Eyes (have you heard a latin/big band rendition of "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow"? Great album)
4. Cyndi Lauper-Merry Christmas... Have a Nice Life (it's such a funny Christmas album, especially "Christmas Conga" and "Minnie & Santa", let me cite a bit: "bonga, bonga, bonga, do the christmas conga...")

I'll be honest, any other time of the year, I absolutely loathe the song with a passion, but for the two weeks before Christmas, Mariah Carey's version of All I Want For Christmas Is You is like heaven.

Eagles- Please Come Home For Christmas. My band does it, and people love it. We've even had to repeat it in January, because people like it that much.

That's probably my favorite "modern" Christmas song.

I also love Celine Dion's O Holy Night :o

I do too. Martina McBride's version is very good too, but nothing beats Celine's in my book.

Happy Xmas (War Is Over) - John & Yoko
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town[/B] - Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band

I love Happy Xmas too - Melissa Etheridge has an awesome live version that is the only other version I like besides the original.

I also like Bruce's Merry Christmas Baby.

My fave of the past few years is Barenaked Ladies w/Sarah McLachlan "God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings." Fantastic.

Parade of the Wooden Soldiers - Harry Connick, Jr.
Merry Christmas Darling - The Carpenters :o:o
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Judy Garland
Do You Hear What I Hear? - Whitney Houston
Most of the classics by Sinatra and especially Dean Martin

No-one has mentioned anything from The Muppet Christmas Carol. What about the song from the Ghost of Christmas Present?

"It's in the singing of a street corner choir..." (Does the arm shuffling dance around the room... ) or "We're Marley and Marley...wwhhhoaaaa" by Staedtler and Waldorf??

By the way Brandon, great choice on Sarah McLachlan, Wintersong. I'd also add these three:

Carpenters - Merry Christmas Darling
Kate Bush - December Will Be Magic Again
Jona Lewie - Stop The Cavalry
Kate Winslet - What If... (seriously, it's lovely)

Oh, that wretched Christmas Shoes song. :distress:

I also dislike "Wonderful Christmastime" (Why, Paul, why?) and Barbra Streisand's version of "Jingle Bells."

It has to be amongst my least favorite holiday songs as well. I can't put my finger on what it is I hate most about it, but it truly makes me nauseous. In my list of the very nadir of holiday songs.

This whole CD is fantastic. Even the non-traditional songs are really well done & fit in nicely. But I do hate this version of Silver Bells. HATE.

I thought of another holiday tune I don't care for: Mary Did You Know? And I never liked Pretty Paper til I heard Chris Isaak's version.
