View Full Version : Help me in a word game...?

So my friend talked me into downloading this word game to my phone, called Hanging With Friends. It's sort of Wheel of Fortune on your phone.
Anyway, my friend has genius level IQ, and has very few friends, as he's usually so condescending towards people, that most shun him. Anyway, you're allowed 4 word "misses"....whoever misses the 5th word, loses the game. Well, I've held my own, and we each have 4 strikes! I'm on his word, and it's something I can't figure out, and I only have 2 "letter strikes" left. I'll never hear the end of it, if he beats me. PLEASE help me figure out this word. Here's what I HAVE figured out(x being the blanks)

x A L x O E D

The letters I have strikes on(no longer possibilities) are B N and T.

The remaining possible letters are C F G H I J K M P Q R S U V W X Y Z

WTF ends in OED? I can only miss two more letter guesses, and he wins the game. Please help me put my genius friend in his place!
Thanks for helping me cheat!:laugh::wavey:

Is it Salvoed?

Is it Salvoed?

Maybe.....I'll wait for maybe another response, before I risk wasting my last two guesses....
I couldn't find a definition for salvoed, although I did discover a Scrabble sight, that says it's a word(although said it couldn't find a definition).

Well the only other one that fits is Halloed, but the other L would have appeared. Good luck!

THANKS. I'm going to go run some errands. When I get back, if there are no other guesses, I'll enter an S.

Thanks again!:xoxo:

Funny thing is, I KNOW he knows that he has me stumped. I've been sitting on this word for 2 days!! lol

I'm another word nut, so I'm just good at this stuff. Blame my mother the English teacher, my grandma the vocabulary nut, and my perfect verbal SAT score. :p

I don't mind helping though!

(If it helps, I'm Jess. I don't really care if people call me bangdrum though.)

Ho sh*t, I'll have to really start working on that accent!

And have I mentioned my ABSOLUTE TERROR of flying...? I can do it, but there must be large quantities of booze involved!!!;)

What's the music scene like there? Lots of bagpipes, kilts, and drunk guys?

My advice is not to work on an accent unless you want to get on the wrong side of a few people! Besides, it's always better to have a different accent when you go on holiday somewhere! You'll be exotic and interesting, get drinks bought for you and, like my last time in Chicago... find it easy to be, ahem, "popular". :)

I love flying! Once I'm checked in etc and don't have to rush then the holiday starts at the airport. As for on the flight itself, I just relax and watch the movies! If booze needs to be involved for you then just as well it will be an international flight.. ffree booze!

Oh the music scene can be fantastic depending on which city you're in and if you know where to go. Yes, some parts of Scotland have fantastic traditional music - particularly the west coast and one particular bar where I am - but by that I mean brilliant folk/celtic etc and not bagpipes! Bagpipes are reserved for The Royal Mile in Edinburgh and are pretty much for tourists..shudder.. There's also some pretty good rock clubs etc but it all depends on which city you're in. Scotland is bigger than you'd think! :D

I'll be honest....I could use a good asswhooping....:p

Flying.....I'm just afraid of heights in general. I can do them, when I have to, but I don't f*cking like it! But booze does make it easier. In Nashville, I usually walk downtown from my hotel, which involves crossing a bridge across the Cumberland River. On the way downtown, I'm really nervous, if I start thinking about the height....on the way back, I don't give it a 2nd thought!!!:D:D:D

Yeah, I have little interest the Royal Mile or bagpipes. Or tourists! In Nashville, I almost NEVER do the tourist things. Hell, I'm there so much, many of the locals think I live there(I've been asked several times, "so what part of town do you live in?" "Uh, I commute 270 miles!").

Doesn't the amount of beer consumed by the time of your return trip have something to do with this?? ;)

And never mind the flask of whiskey in my pocket!

It is sort of amazing, though. All the anxiety of crossing that high bridge, is completely gone, after 12-15 drinks!

It might be SCEON but I'm not entirell sure if it's an English word as such or a Germanic one that has been adopted for English use (like Schadenfreunde)...

It could also be SHEWN - more likely.
