She's worked and played hard in her 63 years but Stevie Nicks isn't done yet.
Stevie Nicks does not like other people speaking on her behalf. So, sitting in a big, plush white reading chair in her cavernous suite at the Radisson Hotel in Sydney's central business district, she swiftly cuts down some of the rumours that have recently sprouted from the mouths of strangers and loved ones.
That one about Lindsay Lohan planning to play the Fleetwood Mac frontwoman in a biopic? Not even close; Nicks says if anyone's going to do it, it will be Reese Witherspoon, who is a friend. ''She's very down to earth,'' Nicks says while sipping on a large, shapely glass of iced tea. ''If we don't do it soon, though, she's going to be too old.''
And what of the recent claim, by her ex and fellow Fleetwood Mac member, Lindsey Buckingham, that the band will either tour or release another album next year?
Advertisement: Story continues below Nicks, who is here touring to support In Your Dreams (her first solo album in a decade), responds firmly, like a school-marm chastising her charges for talking in class.
''There isn't going to be anything of Fleetwood Mac next year,'' she says. ''I'm taking next year [to support this record] and it's not going to be done until I say it's done.''
What would Nicks be without her steely determination? It's what helped the writer of such classics as Rhiannon, Dreams and Landslide weather an eight-year addiction to Klonopin, a drug that itself was meant to wean her off cocaine but instead chucked nearly a decade of her life into confusion.
It also inspired her new song, For What It's Worth, which is about what happened after Nicks defied her rehab doctors in 1995.
''I had been in rehab for the Klonopin and I'm completely sober and everything is different,'' Nicks says. ''[The doctors] say, 'Don't do anything big … Give yourself a year.'''
Nicks's response? To go on tour with Fleetwood Mac and have a ''forbidden romance'' with a man who ''saved her life'' by supporting her in this endeavour. Who was he? ''I'm not going to say,'' Nicks says.
Of her future plans, though, the 63-year-old will say this: ''I'm so not done.''

Hmm..thanks for that interesting interview. Brief but succinct. Its a shame that the band wont be getting together but its good that she seems determined to make up for her lost years. and push the album. IYD is a good record and hopefully she will get herself back to the uk having only toured there in '89.
I cant help but wonder if its also that She and Lindsey are more than aware that they want to be more successful outside of the band ...after all how many more years will Mick and John wish to tour? It would be a fitting end if they finally became Buckingham Nicks once again (but I suspect hell will freeze over first). In my mind they compliment each other musically and however arduous and argumentative the process is the end result may well be that she tones his experimentation down a little and he has a sensitive and introspective take on how to 'fashion' her songs. I think its an interesting debate. Maybe Stevie sees Dave Stewart as a kind of stand in Lindsey musically. She obviously enjoyed working with Dave and found the process much more relaxing so much so that it has without a doubt reinvigorated her and given her a new lease of life and a new direction...what will that be in the coming years? A continued Dave & Stevie show? Will she have the patience to commit time to Fleetwood Mac or will the band slowly decline or will it all stay the same but with new focus.
The really odd thing is that all those questions were probably bandied around at the time of Bella Donna but maybe they are more relevant now? .............................. Anyway at least its great to see her so focussed and determined to get herself out there.

Hmm...
How many more years will Mick and John wish to tour?
My guess is that Mick would tour everyday of every year if he could and John would be happy doing at least half that.

Seems to me like she is doing everything to avoid IYD ending like TISL did. She always talks about how she released TISL and then 9/11 happened and then she had to go right into the studio with the Mac. I'm glad she is riding this one out :] Let's just hope she know when to end it and this doesn't turn into a three year ordeal.

I think the timeline might be off on the rehab. Wasn't that done before she put Street Angel out and she wouldn't have gone on tour with Fleetwood Mac, it would have been the Street Angel tour.

She just needs to release some other singles like IYD's or Moonlight and keep the tour going...possibly UK and beyond. Kinda strange to hear 'Secret Love" as a "new" single on Aussie X Factor?
Funny though local radio station here was reporting Fleetwood Mac to tour next year, someone is leaking bad info.

In Your Dreams has slipped off of all the charts. It did as well as could be expected from someone in their 60s and in a time when the album is sadly on it's way out.Glad she it still trying to promote it although to little avail.I think it might be the last Stevie Nicks album proper.

I like it when she's direct like this, even if she isn't divulging any info. It's better than all that game playing and hem-hawing just to keep people talking and guessing. Must be the "other twin" talking.

Well, I wish the interviewer would get her facts straight. Lindsey has been saying that they won't be doing anything next year, too.
And, really, who cares if FM tours if they are doing the same, stale stuff?
Give me Stevie/Lindsey solo tours, any old day.

Well, actually Stevie was saying FM in 2012 first and then Mick and Lindsey said they thought so too since she was ok with it and then Stevie said no, Lindsey said she shouldn't have to run back to FM and to have fun promoting her album and so then he backed off the FM next year idea since she wanted to keep doing the solo thing for awhile.
Personally, I like seeing them together. I haven't had 30 years of fandom, so it's not old to me. But, I'm excited for their solo stuff too and that's cool. I just wish they hadn't yanked me around and got me all worked up for next year. Although, they do owe us something really exciting now.

Good we will see In Your Dreams Tour my guess next year they will also release the documentary too. Cool I will definetly catch the show next summer. I was hoping more of a solo tour next year than a FM thing.

I'm not a 30 year fan, either (although I certainly was around back then). And, when I finally got to see FM for the first time, it was an absolute dream come true. I was there right at the start--their Today show appearance. And saw them...I don't know...12 times? 15? LOVED every second of it. But, I was very disappointed when they did the Unleashed thing. Not that I didn't go and enjoy myself--I did. Several times. But (again, to me) it was kind of the "We officially sell out!" tour.
My theory, in some ways, is that very thing MAY have spurred Stevie and Lindsey on to their new solo stuff. Maybe, just maybe, that 12,001th performance of Dreams made them say to themselves...geez, there just HAS to be more. And, what I'm hoping one more year on the road, for both of them, will do is ultimately make them more committed to doing new things with FM. I know it matters to the Big Machine (I can't believe I just referenced that. I'll smack myself later), but sales shouldn't be as important as the joy of creative process.
I have no objection to old hits as long as some new stuff is thrown in there. I think that's why I was frustrated with Stevie. The last two times I saw her in concert, I only saw her once (which hadn't happened in years) because it was the same 13 songs. I really felt she was calling it in. And, when I saw her in September....Wow~! What a difference. Not only with the songs but the whole attitude.
So, anyway, I have no idea what point I just made but I've exercised my fingers enough to go and do some actual work now;-)

I'm hoping for a second U.S. leg myself. It seems like she played very few dates here, but maybe that's because I used to live in Texas and she ALWAYS played at least 2 Texas dates so I was always able to see her at least once. She didn't even come to Florida this time around :(.

I'm sure the record company is done promoting, but Stevie's own management could orchestrate another push (of course they could do a lot of things that they haven't). Let the holidays pass, then next year release the documentary along with another single/video. That could put her on the TV circuit again, with a way to discuss IYD from a new angle. She still has Letterman, Today, American Idol, and a few other things she could hit. Add some spring concert dates in the US or UK. That could keep her in the public eye for a while yet.

I know what you mean. I would kill for a new, fresh Fleetwood Mac album. Even if it were their "final bow", if they did it in a grand old style it would be well worth it. I want them to go out with a bang, not with a soft "pff" like their current presence suggests they will.

That's correct. So, when that article said that Stevie doesn't like other people speaking for, no one was speaking for her. She began promoting her album first and she said 2012 (though she didn't know whether it would be new music or just an album). Then Mick said it and then months later when Lindsey was promoting his album, he said they might go out in 2012. He didn't originate that comment. But as his promotional appearances continued, he began to say he didn't know and it might not be 2012 after all and he'd like to know what he'd be doing next year (sounded up in the air, as he must have been having discussions about it). Then both Mick and Stevie started saying 2012 didn't seem likely and now Stevie says they won't reform in 2012. But she is the one who put 2012 out there first. The men weren't speaking for her.

Yep, one more album with lots of original Stevie songs produced by Lindsey. Please.
IYD is over.

100% agreed!! Mick is a touring madman and loves being on the road from what I gather. He loves the live gigs and performing. John, I gather is like you say, probably up for about half as much as Mick.
Both of them need the rest of a band to work with. Not going to get very far with just a drummer and a bass player. Thus the reason why we see Mick involved in multiple projects, bands, etc. (The Zoo, Mick Fleetwood Band, Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, M.O.B.). John not so much.

Ugh. I like Reese, and I get that they are friends, but I think that would be a mistake. And she probably will be too old because you know this isn't gonna happen anytime soon. I would rather see Lindsay to be honest. :distress:

I say, have a Fleetwood Mac finale tour, w/Chris, please. Do a great Buckingham/Nicks album that has a lot of substance and gets back to their 'roots', very raw and basic, that kind of thing. Do a BN tour with a few surprise solo songs, release the solo songs on some kind of special edition BN tour CD and Bob's your uncle!
In my dreams.

If Fleetwood Mac are thinking about another cd in a year...please, get Christine involved somehow...tel her that she doesnt have to tour, tell her that Lindsey wont produce, tell her anything she needs to hear to participate..it would be a great way for FM to have their final bow...
