Perhaps I'm late to the game, but I was perusing Amazon.com and stumbled on to this album of interest. I know of Walter Egan mostly because of his association with Stevie and Lindsey, going way back to their early days.

I have several of his albums just because Lindsey and Stevie appeared on them. They were kind enough to help him out at a time when they were flush with newfound success. I'm not a huge fan, but I love his song Magnet & Steel.

Anyways...The Lost Album was recorded in the eighties, but was shelved. Several decades later it was finally released. I haven't heard it, but Lindsey plays on it, and Christine sings backgrounds; even co-writing a song. The last song is a cover of Sisters of the Moon! (Of all Stevie songs to cover, that choice seems so odd, being that it's so much of a "Stevie" song.)

Does anyone have any knowledge of this this album. I'll likely buy it eventually, just because!

It was supposed to be the follow-up album to The Last Stroll. But, by then CBS dropped Walter from the label.

He had been doing "Sisters Of The Moon" for a couple of months in his live set. I saw him play it at the Roxy Theatre in Hollywood while Stevie & posse of friends were in the audience almost 2 months before Tusk was released.

What I've heard of it (which were just songs he did in his live set from the album), it's really good.

Thanks for the information. So is it accurate to say this album was recorded around late 1978-early 1979? It's interesting that he was covering a Stevie song before anyone knew it. Did he mention it at the Roxy show?

To be honest with you I was really disappointed with this release and I like all the other Walter Egan albums. It seems really thrown together, and I don't remember one good song on it. Just my opinion though. You can probably find something better to spend your money on.

He mentioned it in the liner notes of one of his albums. He said he was singing it before FM was and Lindsey "put the kibosh" on Egan performing it.

He recorded SOTM during his Not Shy sessions but the rest of the tracks were actually recorded in 1985. Egan had been dropped by CBS after The Last Stroll but then he signed on to Tom Petty's Backstreet Records for his 1983 Wild Exhibitions album and these tracks were to be the follow up to that album but things had changed at Backstreet by then and again Egan was out and it remained unreleased until the release of The Lost Album. You might want to check out the UK version of the album which has more tracks and is called Mad Dog. :)

9. "Magnet and Steel," Walter Egan feat. Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham & Stevie Nicks

Back in the '70s, songwriter Walter Egan had a massive crush on Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks. So he wrote a song about her and even got her and her ex-boyfriend, Lindsey Buckingham, to sing backup on the track. The song is rumored to be about Nicks.

Though they reportedly never dated -- Stevie would go on to date her longtime solo producer, Jimmy Iovine -- the song remains a classic and has been used in many films such as 1997's Boogie Nights.

Just a heads up for everyone, Itunes has this album. Do not buy from them.
I tried to buy the SOTM a long time ago and I must have forgotten, and I tried to buy it a few months ago and the file is corrupted. And I don't think they are going to fix it. That's probably what happened when I tried to buy it the first time and I forgot about it.

After seeing this thread, I bought the album yesterday off iTunes. No issue with any track/file.

Yeah, WE said recently (think I mentioned this in another thread) that Lindsey told him they were using SOTM for FM and told him to go home and write another song, so WE came up with Hot Summer Nights.

I have The Lost Album and in my opinion, Walter's SOTM isn't all that great anyway, sorry to say. Unsurprisingly, his voice and style is much more suited to his own replacement track "Hot Summer Nights" - a song many enjoy and which got some good airplay. Lindsey did both of them a favor.
