I am a huge geek. And one of my favorite things to do is to visit locations of movies and tv shows I loved growing up. And living in Los Angeles there are many places to go see. When going to Venice Beach I make it a point to drive by Venice High School, which was Rydell High in Grease, my favorite movie of all time. I was absolutely thrilled to find the Happy Days house and Laverne & Shirley's LA apartment. And recently I made a pilgrimage to see the mural outside the Village Recorder where Tusk was made and now, thanks to Bryan, I'm going to check out Sunset Blvd /Seward to see if I can recognize anything from the rain sequence of Gypsy. Oh, and every time I drive by the Magic Castle I smile because I know Stevie celebrated her birthday there and I always point out the Baked Potato on Ventura to Stevie fan friends because she once told Jim Ladd that if she hadn't become a rock star she'd still be performing, only she'd be playing the Baked Potato. LOL!

So, any of you other LA peeps make a "pilgrimage" to any known LA Fleetwood Mac or Stevie historical locations? If so, where? Or am I alone in this obsession.

I've been tempted to try and find Stevie's house, just to drive by and see the outside but I don't want to come off as some creepy stalker. I would totally not go through her garbage or anything like that. But if I did know where it was I would be tempted to drive by every once in a while. Not to stop, just drive by and smile.

Since I live in LA too, I have done those things ;) You are not alone :) No worries ;)

I know where all her previous houses are....and the current one. I have not driven up to them though, for two reasons; I respect her privacy & I have a personalized plate LOL.

But yes, Undoing the Laces...we should hit up stuff together!! ;):blob2::]:D

OMG, I would totally be up for that. And I would be thrilled to share my non-Stevie locations as well. Even if I knew where Stevie's house is I might drive by it but I would never think of stopping or pulling up to the driveway or anything like that. Same as I'd never have the nerve to knock on the door of the Brady Bunch house. My sister still holds a grudge with me because twelve years ago when I first moved here we were having lunch at Jerry's Deli and Bill Pullman was sitting right behind her and I refused to tell her until after we left because I knew she would turn around and bother the **** out of him and that's so not cool when the poor guy was just trying to enjoy his meal.

But yeah, it would be fun to have an afternoon of Stevie locations. And the beauty of having an iPhone is that you can pull up videos on youtube and double check if a location has changed much.

I've always been interested in seeing the coffee plant where she and Lindsey recorded those demos. Does anyone know if that place still exists? It'd also be interesting to see the home Stevie Nicks was born in and the subsequent homes that she grew up in.

Seriously, I lived here for ten years before realizing that I should go find the Village Recorder. I'm surprised I didn't go looking for it day one! And I seriously have driven right past it dozens of times, but the mural was in the back. And if there's a sign on the Santa Monica side of the street it's not very noticeable or I would have slammed on the brakes and stopped right where I was.

Curious about the coffee plant too. Any No Cal people who can verify?

But, isn't her house in a gated community? I drove by the condo easy enough since it's on a main road. I forgot the name of it but I realized where I was when I saw the sign for Santa Monica and the complex was right there. LA surprised me - all those towns you hear about are all in pretty close proximity. Before I blinked good I was out of there and in another town. Who knew.

To see all the homes Stevie grew up in would take a cross-country road trip of about a week though. She's been quoted a few times as saying she and Lindsey both lived in a gated community in Atherton. I had no idea there was such a thing in the late 60's.

Hmm I live here in L.A. and I've never had a desire to see any places related to Stevie but I cannot give you one good reason. I'd fly across the country to see her but for some reason driving 15 min to see her house does not appeal to me. Strange...

Hi,

If you can get to Sausilito, I would recommend going to the record plant, Its so amazing to go there.
I also visited the walk of fame star in hollywood which was fantastic too.
I went there November last year, and coming from Australia I loved it, as I don't get a chance to do be that close to fleetwood mac everyday.

Luv Emmaline

Speaking of Mac-owned houses, I've always been puzzled by this: There were several references during Say You Will about Lindsey and family having just built a house. I think Mick and Stevie both said in interviews that they were touring longer because "Lindsey just built a house, he needs money".

But then very shortly after that it was in the news that the Buckinghams were selling their house. So the impression I got was they built a house and then sold it very shortly after. I have wondered why that was?

Yes, that was Lindsey's house he had for like 25 years or more. They were rebuilding/redecorating during the SYW recording. Why they sold it is a bit of a mystery. In one article, I think his wife suggested the yard was too sloped for their kids to play on safely. I'm not sure how you don't come to that conclusion before you build and have it landscaped accordingly. And, it didn't look small from the pictures I've seen. But, whatev...

I think they must have been planning to sell it all along. Ca-ching.

Okay, ever since reading about this near death experience during the filming of Gypsy I'm a little obsessed. Does anyone have any additional info on the making of this video. And where exactly that scene where they're dancing in the rain is?

When I was in California, I stopped by Point Dume (I love 'Illume'), and I even went looking for 'Illume' candles (they're hard to find out East). :)

And of course, the FM star on Hollywood Blvd!

I was supposed to go camping in a really cool place in Malibu this weekend (until Mr. Rain decided to pay us a visit) but my buddy said he wanted to include a little excursion to Point Dume and I was all excited and have been playing Illume over and over ever since.

Every time I'm with someone in Hollywood and we pass the FM star I say, "You know, Fredrick's of Hollywood used to be here" and they always look at me funny and go "why do YOU know that???" LOL! It's because of that photo where they're getting the star and you can see Frederick's in the background. You used to be able to find the star by looking for it.

I know you know this, but for all the younger Ledgies, at that time in 1979 Frederick's of Hollyweird was considered a "racy" store.
