Wow.....I was shocked today at finding out that 2 guitar solos (middle & end of the song "Gone Too Far") were taken directly from the Christine McVie song "Wish You Were Here" from the Mirage album. I knew, knew, knew something in that song sounded familiar, but until today could not place which old FMac song it was from.

Just out of curiosity......did anyone else catch it?

I don't know how you could say they are "directly" taken one from the other. I don't even feel the resemblance between them is enough to warrant a comparison to be honest.

Haha, I thought this too! http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?p=1021936#post1021936
Glad I'm not the only one. But I wouldn't say it was directly lifted either. I'm sure it was just a coincidence.

Gone Too Far sounds so much like a FM song to me. I think it's the background like 'ooh lala' or whatever Lindsey's singing, and something about the rhythm that gives it that feel.
However, I didn't notice anything about the guitar solo to be honest.

I knew something was familiar about it! Thanks for the insight!

For such a relatively obscure track, WYWH has proven to be a fertile source for other songs' instrumental passages. The piano intro to The Dance version of "Silver Springs" is almost identical to the intro of WYWH.

I thought this about Wish You Were Here and The Dance verson of Silver Springs as well. Although I heard The Dance before I heard Mirage.
