Just got into Napa. I'm tired and have a bit of a headache from driving all day, so I am going to rest for a little bit, then head into downtown Napa. I'm wearing a sparkly shirt under a sleeveless gray sweater type thing, if you happen to see me. :wavey:

Great show ..The Uptown is such a great venue an old time movie theatre converted into a concert venue and not a bad seat in the house.I was in the orchestra just left of the soundboards.Lindsey was so energetic and committed to his performance and the new songs are stellar live.A couple of guys a few rows in front of me became so overwhelmed with enthusiasm that they ran dancing to front of the stage and were escorted out of the venue. There was one blonde lady in a black and silver strap dress first row in front of Lindsey that reached up and tousled his head after a song I was wondering if she is a ledgie? Anyway best show I have been to this year.Emmylou Harris being a close second .

What a fantastic show! There was some wierd stuff, but the show itself was amazing.
OK, so, BombaySapphire3 is right. During GYOW, security was tapping some guy on the shoulder to get him to go back to his seat and he didn't pay a bit of attention for awhile. She then got on her radio and said she needed backup, I guess. Anyway, another guy comes down during GYOW and stands right in front of the lady directly in front of me (where the other guy vacated) and she stood up to like...fight him? So, he was pulled away by security as well. Sheesh.
The blonde gal in the front row got all kinds of Lindsey love, but that's because she begged for it. ;) She tossled LB's hair after Second Hand News, I believe it was.
Sound was amazing and the venue was really great too. I didn't catch some of the back and forth with LB and the crowd but hopefully, someone can remember what was said. There were no Camera Nazis but they did say no flash photography. I took a few pics during ISA, but they aren't that spectacular. Didn't take my camera out other than that. Just wanted to enjoy my last show.
BaronVonBielski, it was great meeting you. Wish LB had come out after the show. I also wish I could have met other Ledgies. I just had no idea who was/wasn't one. :(
I'm hoarse from screaming. Brett noticed me during the show and gave me a smile and later, a wink. Brett tried to tell the security lady it was okay for people to come down to the front also. Then, he caught my eye again and I shrugged like "What can you do?" Lindsey also bent down and told the security lady it was okay. After that, she stayed gone and let the crowd go free.
The guy behind me was pissed at my standing up during SHN and Tusk. He kept tapping me on the shoulder and also flipped my seat to hit me. WTH? He yelled at me to sit down, but I ignored him. Heh. Whatever, dude.

Both of the guys that were yanked off by security were sitting together .I also noticed they had gone heavy on the micro brew. One of the things someone in the audience yelled out was "how many guitars do you have" to which Lindsey responded "too many ,or maybe just the right amount"I didn't catch what the other guy in the audience said that he responed to.So I take it wondergirl9847 was the blonde girl in the front row? IF so your enthusiasm helped make the show

I don't know who the blond girl in the front row is but she's not wondergirl. I think the blond girl was also at the San Francisco show.
She also grabbed Lindsey's leg and got a lot of Lindsey attention at the SF show.

True. But, I keep thinking wet leather...copious amounts of sweat....fungus...
Chiffon is more...light, airy, dry!
OK-Lindsey needs a chiffon jacket. There's the solution.

LOL!! Reminds me of one of the Unleashed pics when Stevie hugged him, before she figured out how to not entangle him in her sleeve. He really did look like he was wearing chiffon and it was sort of becoming.

But he has a fabric jacket he could wear too, if he wasn't bent on the James Dean image. I keep thinking of heat exhaustion, but he's survived this long. So, guess I'm just given to worse case scenarios.

Wow, LB and his random day of not wearing the leather jacket reminds me of the recent FM tour where one random day he chose to wear a grey suit and was never seen in it again on the tour.
And it was my concert that he did thins, so I was thrilled.
Maybe these two days were when the jacket was being cleaned or something.

The show was amazing... the seats were amazing and Lindsey's voice was great. Thanks again Christie for selling the ticket to me. The events of the evening were interesting to say the least. I simply cannot believe that someone was willing to get into a fight at a Lindsey Buckingham show... and a lady for that matter... one with a front row seat. It was classic. Needless to say, the whole experience was awesome. Lindsey IS the greatest.
so is shirt with holes and ugly buttons also back?

maybe this tweet is related to those 2 guys (hordes????? ) that were escorted (since usually one doesn't experience overly intoxicated and grabby people at LB concerts):
@rhiannonstone Having ice cream to soothe the trauma of being surrounded by hordes of drunk, creepy, inappropriately grabby Lindsey Buckingham fans.

The two guys were an oddity. I was right behind them so was able to observe their esculation in weirdness through the show. These guys were no spring chickens probably 50ish which would put them right in high school at the time of Fleetwood Mac 's height so I'm guessing they were reliving their youth:shrug:Anyway what really cracked me up was that after the first guy was escorted out the second one in a kamikaze like move made his way to the front of the stage with arms waving wildly and surely having known what his fate would be.I loved the grabby blonde gal though.

Wow, how funny and what nerve. I'd be afraid of his reaction. But I guess if he's busy playing, there's not too much he can do. His hands are tied!

It's too bad I didn't know what you were wearing, because you were standing just feet from me in the second row. I was holding up the Lindsey Rules neon orange sign at various times during the show.

well, the way it has been working for several people well in the past is: check the ledge few days before the show and see who announced they are going; if nobody did, then post a thread asking about it. then you take details to PM-land, emails, phone #s etc and you meet up!

Supercharged concert shows both sides of Buckingham
Lindsey Buckingham admits that his career has a split personality. And that’s a good thing, as exhibited last week during Buckingham’s stellar performance at the Uptown Theatre. Probably best known as the guitarist and front man of Fleetwood Mac, Buckingham’s 40-year music career has also included prolific solo work that has allowed him to follow his own artistic path.
At the Uptown, Buckingham comfortably wore both hats, giving concertgoers a supercharged sampling of both sides of his diverse musical talent.
Without introduction or an opening act, Buckingham walked onto the Uptown stage alone and began with a gentle, almost whispering rendition of “Shut Us Down,” quickly neutralizing the enthusiastic crowd’s chants for more raucous and familiar Fleetwood Mac hits. Next, a slow take on his solo hit “Go Insane” transitioned like a mood swing from mournful yearning to screaming desperation at the end. After another solo hit,“Trouble,” he launched into the evening’s first taste of the Mac, a delightful “Never Going Back Again” from the album “Rumours.”
“I consider myself to be extremely fortunate in the sense that I have been able to work and live, really, in two distinctly different creative worlds,” Buckingham told the crowd. “On one hand, you have what you might call the large machine, which is, of course, Fleetwood Mac. On the other hand you have what you might call the small machine, and that of course is the solo work. If you were to make an analogy, say, to film, you could probably say that I’ve been involved in a few big films. But it is the small projects, the independent films, that scale of project that allows you to follow your heart, that allows you to take risks and allows you, probably most importantly, to continue every time to aspire to be an artist.”
Buckingham’s latest “small machine” project is his new solo album “Seeds We Sow,” which was highlighted during the middle of the 2 1/2 hour non-stop set. The album is solo in the purest sense, since Buckingham wrote, produced, sang, played most of the instruments and even distributed it on his own label. This is a far cry from his Fleetwood Mac work, which he says “involves all of the other entities that step up to the plate to meet that situation when, as they say, commerce is robust.”
The songs from “Seeds We Sow” are an excellent example of Buckingham’s versatility and growth as one of America’s most popular musical stylists. Album standouts at the Uptown concert included “In Our Own Time,” showcasing Buckingham’s signature staccato guitar work, “End of Time,” a peaceful and catchy contemplation of death and “Stars are Crazy.”
While many performers introducing new material stubbornly resist dragging out the old favorites for lifelong fans, Buckingham didn’t let too many songs pass during his set before serving up one of his Fleetwood Mac hits. It was all to the Uptown crowd’s delight and reaffirmed the huge influence Buckingham has on the mega-band’s continued popularity.
Perhaps the standout Fleetwood Mac song of the night was “Tusk” which, in its day, was a weird and progressive departure from the Mac’s more pop-music feel of the “Rumours” album. Written by Buckingham, the song highlighted his experimental bent while further exposing creative tensions both within the band and conflicts with the commercial demands of the industry.
The ease and apparent joy Buckingham exhibited moving between both his “large machine” and “small machine” body of work showed that this is an artist who has successfully come to terms with both. And just as he began the concert — alone, singing a quiet acoustic song before a hushed audience — he delivered his last encore, almost whispering the lyrics to his new album’s title track “Seeds We Sow.” At age 62 with four decades of music making behind him, many of those “seeds” have grown into a musical legacy fully embraced by both Buckingham and his world of adoring fans.

Big machine and small machine
Small machineRenée and I saw Lindsey Buckhingham play at the Uptown Theatre in Napa earlier this week and saw an amazing, high energy performance. The audience was his people — not only because he’s a Bay Area boy but also because the Uptown tends to draw an older crowd. Most of the audience was alive when Rumours came out and they owned it and played it until the grooves were worn down. Although the program announced him as Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac, there wasn’t a person in the audience who needed that additional explanation.
He has lost none of his energy or love of primal scream therapy. He took every solo and played guitar hero like the best of them. The crowd loved the mix of his new album (his best in awhile) and Fleetwood Mac favorites (including a version of Tusk that didn’t require a marching band to come on stage thankfully).
About three quarters of the way, Lindsey spoke to the audience of the big machine and small machine. He recently came off tour with Fleetwood Mac and that was full-on big machine. Big personalities, big venues, lots of gear and set list of oldies designed to please. The big machine is the engine that feeds the continued rock star lifestyle of the once successful rock stars who can’t count on continued CD sales beyond the occasional remastered/remixed/completist box set that gets issued once a decade (cf Pink Floyd, Heart, The Who).
After the Fleetwood Mac tour as Lindsey put it, he “found a hole in his schedule” and decided to record a quick album and tour behind it. Small machine all the way — he started by playing a number of songs solo before a small band joined him for the rest of the set. It was informal, conversational and one of the best shows I’ve seen in long-time (I would venture to say the rest of the audience agreed). Economically a very different model but for all I know he could make more from the small machine. Like a big-time movie actor who does independent films to exercise a different part of his art, Lindsey clearly got more than money from the small machine. We were all very thankful he did.
