When I listen to Stevie's solo albums I always wonder why she hasn't recorded full-fledged country album. I think she's got everything to succeed in this area. Her songs like "After The Glitter Fades" or "Rose Garden" sound incredibly honest and with material as strong as these songs she could have created some "country magic". Has she ever had any plans to record this kind of album?

I've saying this for years. That would be a dream come true for me.I love to see her do a country cd.Also she would get better results on the charts then a rock cd these days.I'm a big country fan.Todays country music is like soft rock .Personally I rather hear old school classic country then todays country music.Stevie would fit right in to todays country music with no problem.Linda Ronstadt,Sheryl Crow,Kid Rock and Hootie and the Blowfishes Darius Rucker did.Probably more pop rock artists I forgot to mention.

I think she could make an exceedingly effective country album. She's definitely a great roots-music singer. The thing about Stevie's solo career is this, though: I think she doesn't like to box herself into any one style on any one album. Her albums are a potpourri of genres rolled together that somehow function as a whole. She goes from pop, to rock, to country, folk, electronica; some of her songs dabble in nearly-hard rock/punk, etc all in one album. I can't say I could ever see Stevie do a solely country album, or focusing on any one genre for that matter.
I personally think that she could make an amazing electronica album seeing how effective Planets Of The Universe, Everybody Loves You, Stand Back, etc have been. I could totally see her making an amazing trance type record. But that'll never happen either. I think she likes the variety, and the freedom it brings her. I have to imagine Fleetwood Mac is all about limits for her... and she wants her solo career to be quite the opposite. This is just my rambling take on the situation, though. :)

I would LOVE for her to do a complete country album. She probably will someday in her (really) old age.

FWIW definitely would have taken off if marketed in that genre.

I'm not sure that she has to do a complete country album but songs like FWIW and Thats Alright and Landslide and I Sing For Things and Rose Garden and live versions of Gypsy make me wish for more acoustical stuff....

doesn't get more country than that, and it was , to me, a stunning vocal!

As much as I hate country (Don't get me started), I think she'd make a really good country album... she's got that voice and a lot of her songs are already there. But like Louie said, and I like how he put it (Potpourri of genres), her albums don't stick to one genre. I hear at least 3 genres in In Your Dreams at least.

I'm a big country music fan and would absolutely love it if Stevie did a country album. She's smart enough to stay away from overly cheesy, cliched country lyrics and production so it would work really well.

Would vastly prefer a full album of orchestral tear-inducing emotive ballads. She can really sing, and it shows on the ballads. She can really write a song, and it shows on the ballads.

I like when Linda Ronstadt did with the Nelson Riddle Orc.

Yes, but her own ballads, not necessarily old standards. Although I love At Last, for sure.

I still think that she could front the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band and do a really good blues album. Sure it probably wouldn't sell, but since when is that a problem?
She just needs to do something, anything, that gets away from the blandness of her music these days... :sorry:

Well, I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thinks that Stevie should record all-country album. It could contain her renditions of country standards or original, self-written material. The one thing I'm sure of is that I don't want her to record the album in the vein of Rod Stewart's "Great American Songbook". Who wants to listen to the same songs again and again? And going back to country...there was a time in my life when I hated this type of music. But with time I learned to appreaciate it and now I know that it's the style that Stevie could explore a bit more than one, two songs per album. Her voice suits country arrangements and instrumentations perfectly. If there's anything that has potential of bringing her Grammy Award then it is Country album:) Hope it will materialize soon!

Really? I mean I can't bring myself to listen to those albums (though I love Rod) but of the four albums, he went platinum a total of about 7 times in the US alone plus picked up a Grammy.
You can't argue with the success he's had with them. Don't even worry about a country album, Stevie could just re-record those Great American Songbook albums. She has the voice to do them.

Indeed, she has a voice to do it but I'm not the one who will buy it:) I heard many albums like that by many talented people like: Carly Simon, Linda Ronstadt, Cyndi Lauper, Tony Bennett, Diana Ross, Liza Minnelli, Dionne Warwick, Natalie Cole, Al Jarreau, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Bette Midler, Bryan Ferry...and so on...There's too much of this kind of stuff...It's getting boring. How many orginal arrangements of "I'll Be Seeing You" or "You Go To My Head" can be recorded? For me recording this type of music means going shortcuts, only for the sake of quick money.

It would be great if Stevie would do a Blues cd with Fleetwood Mac where FM started as a blues band.

I think she could do a really great album of standards, her voice is in great shape, nowadays..
Most of her demos sound country, and thats a good thing-its what she was raised on by her grandfather.
I really think her voice sounds better than it has, in a long time. Its much better than it was when she recorded SYW with Fleetwood Mac. Not sure why, maybe because she had just came off several solo tours.
I'm grateful that she is still giving us her music, she is at the top of her game artistically.
I'm really impressed with her new found zest for her art and life in general.

I think Stevie could do Bluegrass cd with Alison Krauss doing EO17 with Waddy on a banjo and Ricky playing an upright player piano,Lenny on washboard,Jimmy on drums,Darrell on church organ.Al on a upright bass. The girls as backup as always .dress in big southern belle dresses.Lindsey will be on the steel slide guitar.acoustic guitar,Mick will be playing the jug.Country artist Vince Gill will play the mandolin,Charlie Daniels will be on the fiddle with Alison.Dave will be mc to introduce the tunes.

I agree, that Stevie's voice is in great shape and she needs to use it more and more to satisfy us:) Actually, I think she can succeed in recording any kind of album, no matter if it is blues, country or bluegrass. Of course, I will be more than happy to hear her singing all country album. I think it comes quite naturallly for her to sing in this way. Country/folk/blues arrangements are perfect settings for her voice. On the other hand, she can experiment a bit and record something in the vein of Cyndi Lauper's "The Body Acoustic"-well known hits in down to earth, acoustic approach, emphasizing its natural, raw beauty:) Or maybe it's time to go down all electronic/dance alley:)
