So since "For What It's Worth" apparently peaked at #25 on the AC chart, time for us to consider what would be the best third single!

I left in "Cheaper Than Free" because it got a video but not necessarily a 'single' release, whereas "Soldier's Angel" did get something of a limited single release over Memorial Day weekend.

Absolutely either Moonlight or Annabel Lee but I can't decide which one. I guess Moonlight due to being almost Halloween

There will be no third single since the first two tanked. But I still stick with the fact the title track has the most radio friendly, foot tapping rhythm.

IF there's another......Moonlight.

Probably no 3rd single, the others were unsuccessful. Wonder how many copies of the album have sold - it has been going on 6 months now.

Absolutely NOT In Your Dreams. That would flop no questions asked.

i can't even vote...none of the remaining songs would be great singles...(Maybe My Heart..if it hadn't been an extra cut) but it was a FANTASTIC cd!!! I love almost all the songs on IYD!!! Thanks Stevie:thumbsup:

"Moonlight", though it would definitely have to be edited to a radio friendly length.

I'm voting New Orleans because with some clever editing, it conjures up that classic Fleetwood Mac Sound if the falsetto "dress up" and brush by" were introduced early in the song with a reprieve allowing it to resonate and then repeat at the end. Voila, a classic sounding single that may stand a chance to chart, besides, it's a great song.

Hell, people were screaming for For What's its Worth, that was a flopper from the get go

Pfft, I don't think either single "tanked"...."Secret Love" certainly didn't, it did basically as well as "Every Day" and "Sorcerer" did. "For What It's Worth" at least hit #25 but was only disappointing in that it didn't go any higher.

I think it'd be interesting to see an edit of "Moonlight" as a single but maybe even more interesting a dance version of "Moonlight".

Well like I responded to Louie, I don't think the singles were "unsuccessful", but for the second question the last numbers I saw was that In Your Dreams had sold 156,000+ so far.

Amen, Tabruns...some fans wouldn't be happy regardless of the singles that were released...Even stevies own fans (the ledge) voted off ELY and CTF within the first two rounds yet still they insist those are the strongest on the cd....I don't think Stevie's management can make everyone happy....thank goodness it was such a great cd!

True - although I was not one of them. I thought it was a mistake to make it the second single.

It's funny though that there are those who champion Annabelle Lee because Rolling Stone liked it. Rolling Stone magazine originally ditched Dreams in their first review of Rumours. They didn't like it and said that Stevie never had basically anything to offer on Rumours. They quickly changed their tune when the song sored to number #1. Still, their only #1 song ever.

Well they did something similar with Tusk, I think. I believe that they said "Sara" and "Storms" were too "steeped in Nicks' metaphysical murkiness" or something to that effect.

Well I just think it's a given that since The Other Side Of The Mirror Nicks has moved to being an AC artist in terms of singles, so that's where we have to judge their success. So with TISL she had a top 20 AC hit, a top 30 AC hit, and a #1 Dance hit. With IYD she's so far had: A Top 20 AC hit, a Top 30 AC hit. Yes, "Secret Love" peaked 3 positions lower than "Every Day", and "For What It's Worth" peaked 5 lower than "Sorcerer" but I still maintain that this doesn't make them flops. "For What It's Worth" was mildly disappointing that it didn't go higher than #25, but considering that it was looking for awhile like it wouldn't hit the AC chart at all, I was happy to see it get there at least.

I don't think anyone champions Annabel Lee just because Rolling Stone liked it. People probably are fans of Annabel Lee because THEY like it.

Agreed. I could not care less if Rolling Stone likes something or not. If I like it, I like it.

A month or two ago I would have said "Moonlight" or "In Your Dreams".
Sound-wise, but not lyric-wise, "New Orleans could also have been great for charting.
At this point I'm going to go against the general consensus to suggest that "Wide Sargasso Sea" or "Ghosts Are Gone" should be the next single, though the latter is not necessarily a favorite of mine. I just think Stevie should turn to something edgy. No pun intended. It's high time she was marketed as a rocker again, I think. And much as I hate the term, cougars are media darlings lately, & the public might eat up the notion of Stevie Nicks singing about making love. I'm a little tired of the rock survivor & earth mother mentor roles she has been slotted into for the past several years.

I voted for the title track, which has a nice country flavour and at least can achieve some success on Country charts. It's fast, energetic, melodic and has a sing a long chours, which I can't get out of my head.

I went with New Orleans, because when I listened to the album the first time through, I liked that song so much I had to stop and listen to it again before I could go on.

I'm still pulling for Moonlight. I'm still thinking it would have been more successful that For What It's Worth. I never really like that song to begin with.

I went with Wide Sargasso Sea. It does have an edge to it and rocks. She needs to put out a single that isnt catered to Adult Contemporary listeners so much. From what I saw of it, the video would help push the song along also.

And please, not Moonlight...it is a snoozer if you ask me. I dont think it would do any better than For What Its Worth on any chart.

I don't consider any songs that actually chart to be flops, especially for an artist of this caliber who is also well into her 60s. I voted for Moonlight because I think it could coincide nicely with the upcoming twilight film and work in Stevie's favor as a vessel for play in the media. I figure the more interest Stevie can generate, the better chances we will have for more new music from her (solo or with the Mac).

..Also I think Wide Sargasso Sea would be really interesting single choice, as has previously been mentioned in this thread.

Let's face it - save for Soldier's Angel, any one of these songs could be singles. The reason people say they don't hear a single is because they're all singles so it's hard to "single" one out...imho

I think we need a radio station to agree to have a day to preview this record. Just play any song from the record throughout the day. This record is great. Any one song - well we can argue over what is the better release. But the power to the record is the entire record. Then people can hear the breadth of music on here. Slow, rock, country like, FM like, Stevie Like. However you want to categorize. The point is - they are not all the same song. And until people hear the whole thing, not sure how many of the singles released will do that well.

What kills me .what happen to the last two singles.I have not heard them on the radio.IYD would be a great single.Alot of artist release the title cuts as a singles.and some become hits.Moonlight will be me second choice.

Radio sucks these days. They dont give a hoot about older artists. They want to keep it fresh with new young artists.back in the old days they did not care if the artist is 13 or 90 years old.I've studied enough in the biz to know whats going on with it.I remember George Burns had a country hit "I Wish I Was Eighteen Again" back in 1980.
