What's everyone doing for Halloween this year? What's your costume?

I'm heading up to my sister's college. There are rumblings about her friends and I all going as Sailor Moon, but I don't know that that's confirmed...

On a different night, my best friend and I are going to her parents' party as Bellatrix and Narcissa, probably.

My husband and I are hosting a huge Halloween/karaoke party. It's going to be crazy loud

I've never really been into organised dressing up (Occasionally go into Uni in my best washed pajamas for my birthday), so I shall be holing myself in my room with movies and yummy things. I'm thinking I shall be hosting a private Vincent Price (The Pit And The Pendulum, Theatre Of Blood, House Of Wax, The Raven and House On Haunted Hill I'm thinking) marathon, as well as watching the obligatory Thirteen Ghosts. For yummies I may just treat myself to a big bowl of Angel Delight (Butterscotch of course) and a bowl of green and red vegan Jelly Babies.

My friend usually throws a fantastic party. I've not gotten a FB invite yet, so I'm beginning to worry!

Halloween is a much bigger deal in the USA than it is over here.

Although it has got more popular over recent years I don't really think it will ever be as big in England.

I think I'm going out with a few friends and some of the girls from work in costume. I'm totally going as Harry Potter, even if I'm slightly worried the permanent marker pen scar will never leave my face, haha.

Unless they include Pasties and Chips into the "treat" category, I don't see it getting big either. Maybe compromise with Steak and Kidney Pud and can of Dandelion and Burdock... But I think the main reason it hasn't really exploded is because the youth of England enjoy the holidays where the door is held open for them to create carnage. Bonfire Night has fireworks aka missiles (nuff said!), Mischief Night is pretty much self explanatory, and Christmas leaves the older, wiser of the youth free to destroy the hopes, dreams and fantasies of those younger than them with one minor detail. What kind of self respecting, sociopath teen doesn't enjoy breaking children's hearts lol?

I draw on myself with permanent marker all the time, and it does take a scrubbing but it will come off. Just might be a little red in the forehead afterwards lol.

Sounds like everyone is gearing up for a good time. I'm going as 'The Death of Disco'. I ordered my disco shirt, bell bottoms, platforms, and I bought my skeleton makeup. Of course, most of my friends are unaware of the 'Disco Sucks' period that became big in mid 1979 and 1980, so I'm gonna have to explain my outfit to a lot of people.

It is the most erotic of holidays! Seriously. I never understood that, until about 10 years ago.

Anybody going to dress up as Stevie this year.

I thought about it. Depends on what I can pull together, especially since I have brown hair sans-bangs.

I like going as celebrities. I went as Britney Spears last year:

Then again, I might do Britney again just because I put a lot of effort into that costume haha and was really proud of the result.

Why not wear a wig? I have a great Stevie shag wig. It's fun to dress up like Stevie on Halloween. Only catch is, you'll have to walk around with a tamborine all night. That is the one thing that gave me away instantly to people.

It's just a matter of finding a good wig that's not super expensive - I'm a broke college student, haha. Where did you find yours?

Thing is, I could easily pull off Stevie BN-era or like, early 1975 before she went blonde and cut the shag..

<img src="http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lsvnvhy7cL1qjf9q3o1_500.jpg">

If I part my hair close to the middle, that's literally exactly what it looks like.. maybe a little longer. Only problem is, literally no one would know who I was, and even after I told them, it wouldn't register haha. So that's not gonna work.

I wanna kick it Stevie style this year but I really doubt I'll be able to put together a Stevie outfit that is half decent. I've seen some pretty good Stevie costumes. Plus my Sister is taking me to a Hallowe'en party that is gonna be pretty skimpy and I'd be so out of place. I will be anyway cause I don't have to body to dress like a ho, but I'll have to figure something out. *le sigh*

I found an inexpensive wig at a Halloween costume shop. They're everywhere this time of year. The wig I bought was listed as "blonde 70's disco wig" or something. I shaped it to look more Stevielike. I pieced my outfit together from a place in Austin called Lucy in Disguise. I already had a black, lace fringed shall, but as Stevie fans, don't we all?

Attending a party, dressed as Stevie, of course! It's been a while since I've been Stevie. I always like to improve upon my last costume so that means new shawl (almost finished) new wig and new skirt. As always, everything came together fairly quickly. Most of it was fairly inexpensive...except for a few things. Who knew fringe cost so much??

being Stevie is a lot of work if you wanna do it right. I only do it when I can devote some serious time, thought and money. I won't be Stevie unless I can do it 100%.

Well, I have boots, a black (and off whIte, too) shawl, leotards, scarves, moon necklace, and lots of Lacey stuff that I could layer... Just from my personal wardrobe an all, aside from the necklace. and I happen to have a tambo haha

So if I could find a skirt and wig I could probably pretty easily Put something pretty decent together.

Hmm.

I found a chiffon handkerchief skirt on a dancewear website (dancewear solutions maybe?) for $15. In the past I made my own skirts but I have neither the time nor the patience for that anymore.

I agree and it's why I don't dress up a lot. Every now and then I'll go through my things and arrange my boots and shake out shawls and stuff lol but I haven't wore anything since I moved to Florida :/ But I know it's all there if and when I do decide to get shimmied up. I love my stuff though and I love when others dress up too because I love that look on me and on others. You'll have to take pics, all you ones dressing up as Stevie this year. Maybe it will motivate me :)

Does Pasties mean the same thing over there as it does here?:laugh:
Because yeah, they do make the holiday kind of big.

I will take pics and post, for sure. I was looking for some cheap chain necklaces yesterday and what do I find but a freaking crescent moon necklace. Granted, it's not nearly as fabulous as Stevie's but it's the same shape with large rhinestones. It totally "looks" like Stevie..even if you didn't know she wore one like that. If I had gone off in search of a crescent moon necklace, I NEVER would have found one !!

Will hand out candy, but not much else. Not sure if it will me me or my husband to take my 2 year old Bumble Bee trick-or-treating.

I've gone to parties as Stevie in the past, also a gypsy. This year I put on my husband's Navy uniform & called it a night. :D

I am in college, so I didn't want to spend ANY money- I'm going to be a butterfly- my mom teaches first grade, and that was her costume this year. There is a party tonight, but I don't feel like going because I am working all weekend and I have homework to do. Lame, I know. I'm going trick-or-treating with some of my friends on Monday though. Haven't gone since about 5th grade, and I'm a little excited!

I was browsing an antique store on my last summer weekend, and I found a necklace that sounds just like that- it's really quite nice, and it was only $6! I love wearing it.

Myself and some friends met up in town later on in the evening. I was fully decked out in my cowboy gear from my recent travels - proper boots, hat etc... but was outdone by 4 friends of mine who appeard dressed as the Thundercats!! They looked awesome and they'd really gone to town on the costumes. Chetarah had even somehow dyed her hair blonde with black spots and where she found a leopard print bodysuit who the **** knows! I'd share pics but I don't want to post [ics opf other people on here.

I'm dressing up as an Egyptian and going to a costume contest party. I'm no one significant like cleopatra, but just enjoying the fun of recreating my physical body in a past life. I also plan on dancing naked under the moon when I return home:laugh:

I'm doing nothing for Halloween because lately, damn it, Halloween has not done anything for me and I'm tired of the relationship being so one-sided.
