I recently got an e-mail from Amazon asking if I'd like to pre-order House Of Blues by Stevie, which I believe is a new live disc.
I had no idea it was being released. Anyone have any other info about it? :-)

A superb broadcast recorded at the House of Blues in Hollywood in 1994, this eleven song set running at over 70 minutes is Stevie at her raunchiest, most passionate best. With a track list boasting some of her finest Fleetwood Mac songs, plus a host of recent solo cuts although only one album from her album of the same year, Street Angel but climaxing the show with a raucous version of Tom Petty s I Need To Know , this radio broadcast is nevertheless a rare treat to behold, and this first legitimate release will delight Stevie s millions of fans still hungry for the voice and writer that made Rumours such a classic record.

.......

And they put a 1981 Bella Donna concert shot as the front cover. Attention to detail, guys...

Of the Top of my head, the track listing goes:

Outside The Rain
Dreams
Rooms On Fire
Gold Dust Woman
Rhiannon
Stand Back
Destiny
Talk To Me
Edge Of Seventeen
The Chain
I Need To Know

An excellent concert, one of the best "Rhiannon"s ever for sure. But that Westwood One concert has been posted here several times, so I don't think anyone needs to pay over $20 for this (with misleading artwork), especially since Stevie isn't getting a dime from it.

But it's a fiery, incredible concert, as Street Angel was one of Stevie's best tours, especially towards the end (Dallas!!!). If you get it, you'll love it (if you don't already have it).

It was one of her best tours? I didn't expect to hear that.

She did The Chain??!!

"raunchiest"?

How is the sound quality on this release, if anyone knows? I can't stand cheap live releases with terrible sound quality!

This release is no doubt merely transferred from the original 1995 Westwood One Radio concert CDs, which is perfect stereo sound. So, the sound on this CD should be awesome (or just DL it here! It's been posted many, many times over the years).

The Us Festival 1983 CD is crappy sound because it's taken from a video, not an original mixed, mastered stereo release (like the Westwood One concerts). The House Of Blues 1994 concert CD should have excellent sound. No reason for it not to.

Here it is, in lossless sound provided by the always wonderful Tim, badanimals87 -

http://www.mediafire.com/?jsfc6scymsdtt

Recorded September 17 & 18, 1994 at the House Of Blues in Los Angeles, CA. This were the "final" shows of the Street Angel Tour of 1994, although the tour actually ended here in Dallas on 09/10/1994.

The original radio broadcast in 1994 was live on the air, and you could hear echoing and feedback sometimes, and "Blue Denim" was aired. When Westwood One aired the concert in early 1995 on 2 CDs (including commercials but not "Blue Denim"), the sound was mixed and mastered, with some tweaked vocals here and there.

Just to add to what Mike said, a long time ago Maureen Loftus sold the radio-aired version which included "Blue Denim" on CDs, so that version is out there in the world, also. And actually, I think you could hear more of Stevie's bronchitis in the vocals on the radio version. However, I always thought the music on the pre-edited radio version sounded better than on the Westwood One edited version. It sounded more "live" if I remember correctly (as Mike said, more feedback and echoing). The Westwood One version seems to have "scooped out" the middle; it's very low-ended and very high-ended; the bottom bass is very, very deep, and the high-end parts (such as cymbals) are much louder than the guitars and keyboards.

Mike,

Thank you so much for posting the link to this show. Would you have a scan of the the original cover or another more appropriate Stevie image for this show than the one Amazon is using? Thank you so much in advance if you do!

Ooh, someone sent me a cover, but I accidentally deleted it!

Back around 1997, someone made a cover for me with a GREAT 1994 shot of Stevie singing "Edge Of Seventeen" with the mic off the stand, crouching low and wailing!!! I wish I still had it, too.

In 1995, when the Westwood One CDs were out (ordered mine from good ol' Wynnco! Yikes!), the concert was immediately bootlegged as Street Blue Angel, which had the standing-in-the-corner Dave LaChapelle photo as the cover. This was followed by another bootleg entitled Welcome To My World, which is what Stevie yells out after "Dreams" in this concert. This CD had a live 1994 shot on front or back (?) and the cover of Street Angel somewhere, all tinted orange.

(I lost all my Stevie CDs in a move in 2006).

BTW, Tim/badanimals87 has beefed up the sound on his link. It sounds fantastic! Even better than the original Westwood One CDs!!!

Yes, I thought the original sound was a bit thin, but sounds great on this link.

The Red Rocks 1986 CD is probably transferred sound from the DVD, so it should be perfect.

The Live - On Air CD is from the 1983 Us Festival. I haven't heard it, but someone here posted that the audio comes from the well-circulated bootleg video, so the sound would not be all that great. Believe me, if the sound were great, I would definitely buy this CD!

Love this show! Oh how I would have killed to see this tour. Her vocals were amazing!

They were!!! We had lawn seats for Houston (09/09/1994), the second-to-last night of the tour. Street Angel hadn't done very well on the charts, but the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion was PACKED and people were going CRAZY for STEVIE! I'll never forget at the end of "Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind" (which Stevie dedicated to Houstonian Sandy Stewart), after the music ended, Stevie WAILED out, "A kiss... for luck!!!" Her voice was SO incredible!!!

The next night, closing night of the tour, we had front row center here in Dallas, and vocal standouts that I remember were "Talk To Me", "Rhiannon" and the electrifying "Edge Of Seventeen" (with the mic off the stand!).

"Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You?" was also amazingly heartfelt and beautiful. I wish great sound versions existed for that from this tour. You don't see many photos of it, but on this song (or "I Need To Know"), Stevie wore a GIANT top hot~ very 1994, like that singer for 4 Non Blondes. Giant velvet top hat. Stevie, adapting her style to the times! ;)
