Hey guys! I have downloaded and listened to several live shows from the Rumours tour to the Mirage tour and I have noticed that GDW is left out of the setlist in the Tusk and Mirage shows. I listened to an extremely long (but awesome) GDW from the Baton Rouge show at the last stop on the Rumours tour and wondered if one of the reasons it was left out on subsequent tours was the song got to be too long. I am guessing that FM wanted to make room for the new songs and something had to be sacrificed, but why GDW? Did Stevie and Lindsey butt heads (again) and this time Lindsey won? I know Stevie included it in her solo shows but such a great song and it was cut out of the setlist! Thoughts anyone?

Maybe GDW was replaced by SOTM? Even though I know they did SOTM on a few Rumours dates...they are both long songs. On the Bob Welch and friends show, after preforming GDW, Stevie said "they never let me play GDW for that long, ever" so....take that for what you will. Stevie had Rhiannon, and SOTM...I feel like GDW in the Mirage set would be over load. They're kinda similar songs in a live setting. Very passionate, and they take a lot of energy to preform. Once the Tango tour came around, Rhiannon was hardly done, and SOTM wasn't at all. And then, they brought back GDW.
So, I think it's just what the band felt was best for the setlist. I wouldn't hurry to place the blame on Lindsey.

Actually it was on "The Penguin Safari Tour" of summer 1978 that SOTM first appeared ..a brief summer stadium tour in which Fleetwood Mac were the headliners..they'd never quite be that big again. But yeah I believe GDW was swapped out for SOTM..very similary structed songs and written at the same time apparently.Once GDW returned SOTM was never to be seen again.
