Finally Stevie is going to on the Talk this Sept 13th....
Funny that she is doing it since there was that tweet a while back when someone asked a producer of the show if she was asked to be on and he said she declined the offer.

I wonder if this means that Stevie will actually sit down and talk with the hosts and not just perform. That should be great. I hope they ask her some fun things and get a little silly and giggly with her.

Sara Gilbert, one of the hosts, is a huge fan. She has mentioned Stevie several times on the show over the past year. So hopefully she will come up with some good questions.

I actually was in the audience back in May when I was in LA. I'm sure they'll give away her cd which will be great!
The day I went I got a box of pans from Fabio from Top Chef. I had to ship 'em home!
The ladies did seem very genuine. At least Sharon and Sara did. Leah I can take or leave, Julie wasn't there and for the life of me I can't remember the last one on there.

Looking forward to this. I think the fact that Stevie & Sharon are casual acquaintances will make this interesting, plus Sharon can be a hoot & hopefully Stevie lets her guard down and shows us how funny she can be.

They have advertised this as an EVENT. Stevie is supposed to perform THREE of her classics. Basically, her and Fleetwood Mac's greatest hits will get a sales boost. What about the new album?

via press release:
ROCK ‘N’ ROLL LEGEND STEVIE NICKS TO PERFORM LIVE ON “The Talk,” TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, ON CBS
Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks will perform on CBS daytime’s The Talk, singing three of her signature songs on-air in a special live concert, Tuesday September 13 (2:00-3:00 PM, ET; 1:00-2:00 PM, PT) on the CBS Television Network.
The announcement was made on-air on The Talk today and comes as a special surprise to host Sara Gilbert who is a longtime fan of Nicks, the Fleetwood Mac rock icon. Upon hearing the news from co-host Sharon Osbourne, Gilbert exclaimed, “Best gift ever! I’m almost speechless…I’m so excited, thank you so much!”
A Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Nicks released her first solo album in 10 years in May with “In Your Dreams.” Her extraordinary career as a solo artist, songwriter, live performer and member of Fleetwood Mac is legendary. Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" is one of the biggest selling albums of all time. Nicks penned such Mac classics as "Landslide," "Dreams," "Gold Dust Woman" and "Rhiannon." As a solo artist, beginning with the five-time platinum debut "Bella Donna," her solo hits include "Edge of Seventeen," "Leather and Lace" and "Stand Back."

I found this just now. I think....and I really don't know, but this might be real time here on the east coast. If so, then The Talk should be on here in just under a half hour. I went to the CBS-Harrisburg station on the Watch TV dropdown and once it launched, i looked at the listings and it shows The Talk coming up in 25 mins.

Julie said Sharon was the one who called her and asked her to come on the show. Also she mentioned that Ozzy was backstage so he must be a fan as well. Edge of Seventeen was really, really good.
I wonder if we are ever going to see Ghosts Are Gone on any of these shows.

Stevie Nicks Grateful For Boy Who Broke Her Heart
http://www.contactmusic.com/news/stevie-nicks-grateful-for-boy-who-broke-her-heart_1245110
Rocker Stevie Nicks owes her songwriting success to the boyfriend who broke her heart at the age of 15.
The Fleetwood Mac star reveals she was so devastated by the split, she was inspired to pick up her guitar and pen her very first tune.
Nicks recalls, "I have a lot of amazing memories, and I really do pull from my past (when songwriting)... (My first song) was about the first boy that I fell in love with, who was, like, the guy in 10th grade and I was so taken with him. We went out for, like, a month, and then he started going out with my best friend and that ended in two weeks.
"Then the summer happened and I picked up my guitar... and I wrote a song about him."
And Nicks confesses she still has feelings for man who started it all.
She continues, "I sometimes wonder had it not been for that experience... because even now I'm still really good friends with him. He lives in Michigan (and) he brings his wife and comes to the show. And even now, when he walks in the show, I have to say... my heart still skips a little bit of a beat. I was 15-and-a-half!
"But I wonder sometimes, had that not happened, would I have gone so fiercely into songwriting? I'm not sure."

Another Great Stevie Performance...God bless her...she is better than ever....she works non stop all the while maintaining her integrity (which is not easy when the spotlight is on you) and for all of us who have loved her for decades, we are watching her become a legend....she's moving past titles like Queen of Rock and Roll into something even greater...shes becoming a music legend and she's over seeing her legacy like an true artist...Now a days if you want to push a cd or get your name in the magazines all you have to do is wear a "meat" dress or not wear panties and flash a photographer....If Stevie had wanted to take the easy way out she could have checked herself into a drug rehab(faked it) right before the cd came out in May and been on the cover of all the magazines...Instead she's been working hard for the last 5 months...my hat is off to this lovely lady..

Remember a couple years ago when we were all like "wow, she is getting old"- like when Jimmy Fallon had to help her up on to the stage?! Well, I am not sure what happened, but she looks like she has more energy and youthfulness than ever right now. She seems really happy and there is definitely a spark in her performances... a freshness that has been lacking for a while. Especially in Rhiannon, she looks so young here! Yay! Loving all of this! Great show and happy it was dedicated to her. I still long for the return of wispier clothes and handkerchief skirts with the higher boots, but I think they're harder for her to perform in these days which is understandable. Us diehard boot watchers know when she's wearing the original mama's or not and what she's been wearing live is a bit shorter platform and heel. I think the last time I saw her in the knee high tall black ones was when she performed the Super Bowl. I love when she brings out the tall ones for us like this. :]

Sharon O was so genuinely excited about Stevie. You can tell she is a true fan. I thought Stevie did a wonderful job talking with the cast. She really has passed into the realm of legend as an artist, partly from her longevity and partly from her consistency. Having been a fan since 1976, it's been amazing to witness the ebbs and flows of her career, and to see where she is now, and seeing how lauded and respected she is within the entertainment community at this stage in her life.

:blob1:I totally agree. I think during that time period the long Mac tours, some sort of hip/back injury took it toll on her for a while. 2010 really seems to have healed her mind, body, and the poetic soul we are so enchanted by. Why doesn't Stevie take advantage of these talk show appearances and promote more songs from In Your Dreams? She has a new album but continues to perform(for the most part) her signature songs instead of new songs that aren't well-known amongst the general public. (I was stunned when she appeared on Ellen earlier this year and performed Stand Back instead of Secret Love.) If anything, this should generate a renewed interest for Bella Donna and The Wild Heart but I don't think it's doing much for In Your Dreams.

Before this tour and this show, i thought Edge would eventually become 30 minutes, and that a future tour would be just Dreams, Stand Back, and Edge of 17, with an encore of Landslide.

She may not have been turned away, per se, but fulfilling Ellen's request was probably a goodwill gesture that helped insure that she'd be booked again just three months later when the album was released.

Other artists don't seem to have limited choices in performing new songs.
She's mentioned that all of the shows ask her to do "Landslide."
People need to be reminded that Stevie Nicks is a solo artist as well as a member of Fleetwood Mac. When she appeared on Oprah and sang Landslide instead of Secret Love, that was a missed opportunity for millions of people to hear the debut single from her new album. Once again, her solo career was compromised for Fleetwood Mac.

Stevie is one of the most well-respected artists in the industry, but producers are king and they have the final say in what an artist is able to perform on a given show. They care about ratings and interest in their own show, not about the artist selling X amount of copies of their album. Landslide will garner countless more viewers than Secret Love every day of the week, and Stevie knows this too.
Stevie is also pretty humble, and usually, when someone asks her to do something, she does it.

Sorry, I thought that was clear. The show only wanted her if she was going to perform a classic hit. She wanted to sing her new single, and they refused.
Oprah required the same thing--the episode featured artists singing their classics only. Not Stevie's choice. She only accepted for the honor of being on Oprah, I assume.

Oprah, perhaps the moment Stevie became a sellout.
No need for anyone to argue about publicity here. She just
deserved better than that. The other artists on that show

I disagree, actually. Pat Benatar and Joan Jett certainly qualify as rock godesses, and Stevie was given special honor--she was the only one to get a sit-down, and shot "Secret Love" for the web. And from the excitement we saw on Oprah Behind the Scenes and her declaration, "I've been waiting x years to sing this to you, Oprah," it meant a lot to her.
Yeah, she sang "Landslide," but I don't see that appearance as Stevie selling out. Mileage may vary.

We have always wanted so many things from her but sometimes the people in her camp aren't on board to make it happen or her management seeing it through from fans, so it's not always Stevie's fault.

I do (for more than a minute) think it was a sellout in this sense,
she sold herself short. She deserved more than what she
got. Imagine how much better it could have been with Stevie
getting the second half hour of the show. If Oprah or her people
wouldn't offer such, she or her handlers should have respectfully
turned it down.
She's near the end of her career and she needs to protect her legacy.
Being part of an Eighties has been show didn't do her any favors.

I think it was more a big deal for Stevie herself to have been on Oprah (finally) than Oprah having all of those women on herself. I got the feeling Oprah downplayed some people in favor of her personal diva favorites like Tina Turner and other gf's...

I do (for more than a minute) think it was a sellout in this sense,
she sold herself short. I think anyone who goes on Oprah is selling out something or other. That show has always been a superficial gab-hour for housewives & second-tier paparazzi. It's Entertainment Weekly for TV -- it's a supermarket checkout rag with the gloss of do-goodism. "We can change the world!" Yeah, right.
Look at Stevie Nicks in my signature photos. That person does NOT belong on daytime TV, playing to the housewives who, long ago, switched from watching Richard Simmons to watching Oprah.

All of them are sell-outs, I don't know what u are talking about. And Stevie has always wanted to sell records.

I think it's just an honor to be asked to be on Oprah, because she IS such an influential person in the industry. You can't deny that, regardless of how much you value her show/opinion or whatever.

Agreed! But that Stevie Nicks did not have to resort to daytime TV, much less network TV much at all, because cable outlets like HBO, MTV etc., & national radio did her bidding for her back in her heydaze. She was able to be Garbo, stay mysterious and mostly unattainable, other than the occasional magazine or radio interview. These days, everyone has to sell there wares on daytime TV, not just Stevie, but even the young current pop tarts like Lady Gaga & Katy Perry.

When I learned that Stevie was going to appear on Oprah, I was absolutely thrilled and assumed that she would have a sit-down interview for 45+ minutes followed by a performance of one of her new songs. Instead, I was disappointed that it was a rushed segment with other artists. It was nice to see Stevie appear on Oprah after all of these years but I thought she deserved to have had a full one-on-one interview. If I'm not mistaken, Stevie never had that kind of interview with Barbara Walters either.

Didn't Oprah say that, in retrospect, she realized she should have had just Stevie on the full hour?

Can someone upload the interview portion of the show as the clips her say private when you go tot view them. I have the performance clips but not the interview.
As for the comments about the Oprah show I was there and while I enjoyed it there were things that I didn't like.
1. The choice of guests were lousy because honestly Stevie is the only one still making new music and still for the most part being seen and heard. I can't remember the last time I heard Sister Sledge or Salt N Peppa on the radio. One of my coworkers remarked that she thought Oprah was playing the race card by having them on. I enjoyed Pat Benetar but she is essentially an 80's has been and she has no new music to promote. If it had been me I would have either Just Stevie for a full hour or if they wanted a few guests then why not Stevie Nicks, Pat Benetar and Heart. The could have each got 15 mins to talk and sing a song of their choosing.
2. The interview was OK but Oprah cut her off many times and was even very rude to her when she said the comments to her about making a conscious decision to not have kids. Stevie replied "I have a dog" and then Oprah said "I have 5". You could see the look on Stevie's face was like what should I say?". Plus the new CD was barely mentioned. I admit that when I saw the setup I thought they were doing Has Anyone Ever Written ... because of my letter and the fact that up to that point Allison the producer had not yet come to see me. My mind was thinking ok she will sing this song and then they might talk a bit about the song before asking where is Matt Denison I understand this is his favorite song and he wrote a letter to our show producers. When we had sdat down My sister asked me what song is she going to sing and I was thinking Stand Back but then with the candles and such I wondered if it would be Has Anyone Ever Written since that is the song I referenced in my letter as my favorite.
When she did she said it was the intention to bring the ultimate fans onstage but because of things that were happening which were not told about (The surprise guests) they couldn't do that so I was told I was going to go backstage after the show and meet Stevie.
My one regret for myself was that when we sat down in the Audience chairs I was feeling so sick to my stomach as my nerves were on overdrive thinking I may be called up on stage and also thinking what if I can't make it on stage without being sick to my stomach. I have a feeling that is why non e of my party was shown on TV being in the audience. According to my sister my face was turning green . I guess the excitement of this once in a lifetime moment really got to me .
During the show I was fine and even laughed sat some of the comments in the interviews. When I went backstage I was super calm but I couldn't think of anything to ask her like I had planned with Mick when I met him in 2009. If I meet her again I do plan to be more prepared with some good questions.

W ha-laa They were probably mine. Fixed .Heres the interview part that I have on my Youtube channel.Enjoy.
Wow you were at the taping. Thanks for sharing that.I agree on a full hour on Stevie.Oprah made up for it on the Master-Class show.
I like Sister Sledge music not Salt N Peppa's tunes.
Pat,Joan and Heart I like.
On listening to Joan Jett plus the Runaways more lately I started to enjoy them more. So I retract the comment that I posted earlier about Joan.
