Does anybody plan on watching his new talk show? I haven't paid much attention to him in a long time, but I might see if I can catch it. Will he be the new Oprah? Will he finally come out of the closet (not that he's really in it anymore)?

To be honest, I think this show is going to a major flop. I think a primetime news magazine show is one thing (a no-brainer for AC, actually). But a daytime chat show for women? First of all, whether Anderson is out of the closet or not (and I am not saying or implying that he is gay :p ), he definitely needs to set the record straight (so-to-speak) right from the get-go. In daytime, viewers don't go for hard-hitting news and current events; they are interested in personalities and people who are open about relationships, intimacy issues, etc.; I don't think Anderson can do this kind of show unless he "keeps it honest" with his audience. For the world at large, Anderson is still a bit of an enigma- he comes across a bit stiff, but also betrays a kind of snarky wit that he keeps on a tight leash. It remains to be seen whether he will become more of a three-dimensional persona in daytime. The "silver fox" image can only take him so far...

Meh. It's not something I would watch even if I were home for daytime TV.

Naw. I'm not even remotely interested. He is sooooo boring, even if he did come out of the closet! As HejiraNYC pointed out he should stick to primetime news and play to his strengths. I would be surprised if his daytime show is successful. He's only faintly entertaining when he is playing off a female co-host, such Erica Hill, or the few times he filled in for Regis alongside Kelly, same with Kathy Griffin - who mostly teased him and made jokes at his expense, which was somewhat awkward to watch.

It seems like he's aware of that, and is evidently going to be more relaxed & open. The show certainly seems more Oprah-ish than AC 360 - the 1st show is evidently his interview with Amy Winehouse's family, and later in the week he's having the cast of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on. I don't necessarily give a sh!t about either topic, but the show certainly isn't shaping up to be hard news.
I dunno, I think he can be kind of funny - but I'm thinking about stuff like his appearances on Ellen where he goes on about his love for the Real Housewives, and getting drunk-dialed by NeNe Leakes. Oh, and that giggle fit he had recently (which was kind of silly).
Anyway, I like the guy (more or less) and will prob. watch at least once just to see what he's like on it.

I feel the same way. I watch AC 360 religiously, but I don't even plan on tuning into this. I think people will just to see what happens and because it's AC but I don't think it's gonna last.

Ugh, I want this show to be a hit so badly, but I just can't see it happening. I love Anderson. Intelligent, aware, subtly funny and gay? He's basically my dream man. But as much as a show where an intellectual gets to showcase all his guilty pleasures appeals to me, I feel like the day time audience needs a host who doesn't have any guilt about his love of the Housewives. I'll watch and love it for as long as it lasts, though.

Why do you think he's gay?

Glad to see one other person who's not an Anderson-hater.

Google "Ben Maisani." :)

Why do you think he's gay?
maybe it's because with the high rents in NYC he shares an apartment with Benjamin Maisani and he is the co-owner of gay bar Eastern Bloc

He's gay. He also has balls. I would not of swam with great white sharks without a cage. When I saw that show I thought he was crazy. He could of been easily killed.

He lives by me. I've seen him smooching his guy a few times.
....and it's sad he chooses his career and fame over being himself. Honestly, I have no respect for closet cases. Sure, it shouldn't be what you are totally about, but just say you are gay and move on.

How do you know he isn't being himself? What he does on his own private time or who he shares his bed with is absolutely nobody's business. If Anderson Cooper chooses to lead a discrete, private life, so be it. At least he is not going around town pretending to cavort with different women every night. The fact is, up to now, AC's sexual orientation and/or relationship status really has not been an issue, since all he had to do was report the news. However, now that he is in the daytime talk genre, where frank discussion of personal goings-on are daily fodder, it has to come up. I'm not saying he has to stand at a podium and make some grand declaration. Rather, it should be kind of tossed out there off-the-cuff within the context of conversation. It is no big deal and should be treated as such.
