hope so, it would make sense since it's a "single". although i wouldn't mind if it's TTWLG either.

Rock on TV Preview: Lindsey Buckingham Brings Virtuouso Guitar Chops to 'Conan'

SEPTEMBER 6, 2011 2:25 PM ET

Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham will make a rare late night television appearance tonight when he drops by the set of Conan to perform a number from his brand new solo album Seeds We Sow. The guitarist – who recorded, performed and released the new disc entirely on his own – will likely perform with a backing band, but will definitely showcase his talent for dazzling, high-speed finger-picked guitar melodies.

Lindsey Buckingham - Conan, TBS 11:00 p.m.

Jim Jones Revue - Late Show with David Letterman, CBS 11:35 p.m.

Roger Daltrey - Tonight Show with Jay Leno, NBC 11:35 p.m.

The Antlers - Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, NBC 12:35 a.m.

You know? I think it's possible that he recorded the acoustic version first and had to get the serious reflective feel of that song of his chest- as if he wanted to ridicule it a bit- and fooled around, got possessed and finished it as a fullblown funtrack.

acoustic version makes sense - with the way words and music fit together. electric version sounds like he just wanted to fool around. maybe he heard about all the hate for ta-ta-tas and decided to use the same singing, delete ta-ta-tas and make the arrangement ultra-happy (like a kid on sugar-rush, somebody commented on twitter)?! :p

that all said, i waaaaay prefer electric version to acoustic!

I prefer the electric version of SWS as well!!! It's the side of Lindsey that I always feel so proud to be a fan of- that quirky, singularly zany, mad-sceintist approach that some people just  over...frankly, I'm grateful that he gave us both sides of his personality in this song.

Oh, I can't choose. I like the acoustic a lot. Music an lyric are a perfect match there. I actually love the ta-ta-ta's. But the fun of the electric is so groovy and humourous...no comparison possible...

I think it's a win-win because the song is quite stunning one way and too much fun the other way. Sooo...which one do you think he'll play in concert?;)

acoustic. if he really does 8-9 new songs, at least 6 are full-band, so he'd need to balance that w/ some acoustic numbers.

Oh yes. I gave a class about creativity and widening your own perspective through relativizing ( using humour or deconstruction) today. I opened the lecture with both versions back to back. Hey, I can't help it that I have to work too this week; why not using his music in my work?

That is kind of brilliant. I'm sure your students will remember it. I recall in undergrad and grad school, my greatest highlights were when the professors used something stimulating-like a song or a video or a photo- to begin each lesson. It always sticks out.

Loved Lindsey. Hated the rest of the show. I don't understand why they can't even save enough time to give the musical guests one minute of conversation.
Also, was this just in NY (via voice over--I wasn't paying attention) or did they only mention the Town Hall show? If so, that was very odd. The guy is doing an entire tour.

Town Hall was it. I wonder why? I could understand if it was taped in NY, but it's taped in CA.

I KNOW!!! Most of the reason I watch any part of these shows any more is to see the musical guest. They deserve like a little 5 minute interview on stage, at least!! Great performance by Lindsey, I'm seriously considering spending money that I don't really have to go see him at his only show in Michigan.

Very frustrating experience. The show was awful- Conan was OK, his guests were abysmal. Lindsey did well enough, although I would have picked a different song like "Love Goes", I can't otherwise complain about his reasonably mainstream choice.

Overall, go Linds, but I can't imagine watching Conan's show again by my own volition.

I'm hoping (against hope, probably) that he'll be a musical guest on Saturday Night Live this season. It would be perfect timing with the tour. Plus they could do more with him in the "What's Up With That" sketch, as stupid as it is, since I think last season's appearance was a wated opportunity.

interesting. i used to prefer Ferguson over Conan most of the time when they were on the late late night, but i actually like him now on tbs - it's like he's been liberated after whole Leno debacle and now is much more relaxed and it reflects well on the whole show...

re IOOT vs TTWLG - TTWLG is more classical pop-rock and IOOT is rocking but much quirkier imo. so i think IOOT is perfect intro to LB to anybody who doesn't know his solo opus. i'm glad they did that one. it was not as perfect of a performance as in Saban, but it was not bad either. i had trouble hearing instruments / band well enough on Conan, and also LB's guitar was barely hear-able on Tavis. thought his Extra SWS mini-performance with regular acoustic guitar sounded much better/very pretty.

yes, that's what i've been hoping since his cameo in may! i disagree that his appearance last season was wasted opportunity, i think it was exactly like it should have been - short and sweet. but SNL gives artists huge exposure and their sales usually go through the roof right after SNL performances, so it would be perfect if he would be on it as a musical guest some time this fall.

Then he better let us choose what he should play, because I don't think he'll be banging out any roof-breaking tunes on his own, if he makes the selection himself.

No, I agree wholeheartedly. It surprised me too, because he did SUD on Conan before and I didn't think he would have the band. So, the most that I was hoping for was an acoustic End of Time. From the songs we've seen performed, I think Stars and IOOT come off the very best.

in the concert, TTWLG was my instant favorite, and that held on all this time since april (although IOOT and illumination were serious contenders!). but if i try to think a bit more objectively, i think IOOT is better song that TTWLG.

Hmmm...You wouldn't believe me if I told you I am being completely honest. I don't need LB's confirmation or love, I'm not as much a fangirl as I seem to you. I just happen to have found the performance great. Was it his best? No. But I adore the song and I loved the live feel of it. I have, in the past, bitched about LB-related things. I don't hold back. Right now he just happens to be offering me things I am ravenously adoring. I can't help that he is, it's just what it is. I'm being completely honest, iamnotafraid.

I think I was just more frustrated with the guests and the awful ads, TBH, elle. I found Conan more funny than i thought I might, and overall more funny than not. I was more bummed about LB's relegation to the last 5 mins of show. The performance was good enough, maybe a little too straightforward and not quirky enough to really attract people to him (not enough differentiation maybe?), but definitely good and a great song, with excellent lyrics.

Sort of like "Not Too Late" with a totally different underlying theme (and not as sad).

Anyway, hoping he performs some rockier ones live, at least.

Lindsey Buckingham
'In Our Own Time' on 'Conan'
SEPTEMBER 7, 2011 | By ERIC SUNDERMANN

Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham swung by Conan last night to deliver a beautiful performance of "In Our Own Time," a standout track from his new self-released solo album, Seeds We Sow. Buckingham shows that the years have treated him well, doing a bit more than just strumming a couple of chords on his acoustic guitar. With the rest of his band powering through the song behind him, he energetically plucked the strings, fingers dancing around the fretboard.

Lindsey Buckingham Does Conan

Sep 7th '11 by tom @ 10:55am4 Comments

Last night, Fleetwood Mac figurehead and general all-around smooth-rock king Lindsey Buckingham stopped by Conan to perform “In Our Time,” a song from his new album Seeds We Sow, and to do some serious acoustic shredding. Watch it below.

There’s also an “official” (live) music video at lindseybuckingham.com.

It’s going to be faintly weird every time Buckingham appears on a talk show now, isn’t it? Thanks, Kenan Thompson. Seeds We Sow is out now on Buckingham Records.

No offense taken. Glad you're able
to take a little ribbing. Some here
can't.

What's funny is, that years ago I
wouldn't have said that about his
playing (true or not). But we get
older I guess. Maybe he had mousse
on his fingers, and that's what caused
his off night of playing. Can't
blame him for that, that hair can't
stand up on it's own.

ah, i'm finally getting what is iamnotafraid talking about! i'm not a guitar expert by any strech of imagination but i listened to Conan performance several times and while it was not nearly as great as Saban (just check that newly released official OOTC video, perfection!) i didn't find any major flaws with his guitar playing on Conan. so i was puzzled what is he talking about. mylittledemon i think you hit the nail on the head - when i first heard those firetruck licks at Saban i also thought that something is off - before i realized that's how they are written and supposed to sound (fire still bruning - from the fire we will rise again - firetruck sounding licks - get it iamnotafraid? :p).
