Pondering Jake's sig line:
“The hair went from perm to growing out perm to really bad growing out perm to almost straight to good straight to long straight to beautiful straight to a lot of work straight back to the perm.”
I don't remember Stevie's hair going to beautiful straight until the early '90s maybe? (Even that could be debatable, depending on how you feel about split ends.) Were there "beautiful straight" periods in between the growing-out perms and perms? Seems like she went from curly to shag to curly to frizzy to curly to frizzy to curly to straight to slight waves to straight to slight waves.

Wasn't Stevie hair sort of straight in the Talk to Me & I Can't Wait videos? In one video clip she was wearing a red outfit in the video and her hair looked straight in the back. If I recall she had bangs/layers on top and the rest was straight.

I'm remembering I Can't Wait as the frizzy feathered look with bangs... I can't remember the Talk To Me video, hmm.

don't forget the AWFUL Stand Back and LAHGTP from Arsenio Hall. She was wearing a future version of her current hair, only it was "supposedly" a wig.

Oh, that's awful, yes! But wouldn't that have been 1991?

Ok so this is kind of off topic but what makes that performance so awful. I'm not trying to start an argument but she sounds ok to me here....her eyes look a little out of it. But she's in surprisingly good voice for this being the Klonopin years. Maybe I''m just not seeing something but this doesn't look that awful to me

Ok that's what I thought it might have been. I was looking really intensely at the video expecting something horrid to happen in the video

What was so awful about it had more to do with context. If you saw this performance when it was broadcast, as I did, and I VCR'd it watched over again, you were just bummed out because something was happening to Stevie Nicks and it was odd and uncomfortable.

I can understand that. I guess for me, since the videos I've seen of the Klono years have been a little later, I've seen much worse and so this performance was actually decent. But it is kind of an in between stage from being on Klonopin to being severely addicted to it.

You want to know something horrible? I was on an employee shuttle going to work I worked for an airline. I looked at this guy about 6 feet away and it looked like he shoe polished a receding hairline on his bald head...it was black and shiny and I didn't trust my eyes...especially without my contacts. So a couple of days later my friend and I were talking about it and he sat right across from us. Yeah, it was painted on his scalp. We felt really bad because it wasn't funny. You know, we wondered if he thought people didn't notice...why he did it...etc...
Back to Stevie...my favorite hair do was during the US festival period. So Bella Donna/Mirage/Wild Heart.

Maybe the "beautiful straight" she's referring to is the hair from the Street Angel cover and outtakes from around '93? I know she went back to a perm that didn't quite work out for the tour.

Stevie...this was like OMG. Cool Hair picture...cool everything.
When she played for the John Fogarty special concert....I saw this video. Stevie took the stage...a huge windstorm came up for Rhiannon...at the end of her set...the weather returned to calm.
Never seen anything like it they all said. But...we know better.

PS I photo enhanced the pic ONLY to put the Sun rays in. That's it. Dramatic to Dramatic-ier.
